Tomorrow is the day we go take the journey to Liverpool. Through all these days i have earned 4.32 pounds which at first didn't seem like a lot to me. However once I did the calculation of inflation I guesstimated that this would be around 500 pounds! This Charles Ogle isn't your everyday farmer, that's for sure.
Walking down the stairs Nora got the courage to ask Charles if he knew the language that was in the book. Down stairs the smell of Supper was better than ever. Baked pork, Mashed potatoes, green beans, and many more filled the air with a fragrance that was divine.
Charles and Liz were sitting at the table waiting for Nora. "took you long enough Nora" Liz taunted.
"Yeah sorry" Nora said apologetically
Nora sat at the table and started to eat. "Umm Charles I had a question for a while. I was wondering if you knew the language of this book."
Putting down his silverware he responded with a nod. Nora handed him the book and stared at his expressions. First expression was surprised then confusion, then understanding, after that was an expression that implied he didn't know.
"I do not know."
He handed the book back to Nora. After the expressions that Charles made she was sure there was something that he wasn't telling her, and maybe even Liz didn't know.
"Ok, thanks for looking anyways"
After dinner Charles told Liz and Nora to quickly head off to bed because we were waking up early tomorrow.
This morning was special, this was the morning Nora was going to finally go to Liverpool. The feeling of adventure and something new filled Nora's being. It only took Nora 15 minutes to get ready and be downstairs waiting for everyone else. 30 minutes passed before sound was made from Charles or Liz. the stairs began to creak just like they always did. A bubbly sensation came from Nora's stomach, she was experiencing the butterflies for the very first time in the past.
Liz came down first, after that came down Charles. "Liz, Nora are you ready?" Nora and Liz said yes in unison. Nora Liz and Charles walked outside
"Wait here I'll go get the carriage."
Charles walked away.
"You excited for this Nora?"
"I have waited for this for more than a month. Even though i'm excited for this, i do not know if i'm ready for it." Nora said as she nervously laughed.
"Do not be so nervous you will be with us, Father has been to Liverpool numerous times."
"Oh, does he have some sort of business in Liverpool?"
Liz's face turned to a puzzled look.
"I do not know, he never tells me. All he does is tell me he is leaving and reminds me that I still need to work on the farm."
Ok so he isn't telling her why he is going to Liverpool so much, very susp… the sound of horses and wheels clattering interrupted Nora's thoughts.
"Ok put your bags in the carriage and we will begin the ride to Liverpool."
Nora put her satchel in the carriage which contained the only belongings she had. Surprisingly, the ride was not as bad as Nora would have thought. It was bumpy but with the hay cushions it softens the ride. Every once in a while they would stop at a river or waterfall. The views they experienced was breathtaking.
Wow, the raw nature in the 1900s is beyond belief. Nothing had been taken down for concrete roads yet. The air was fresh, and the forest was quiet.
The sun had almost set when Nora spotted it, a river of bricks and stone. It was a city.
