The clops of the horses hooves filled the ears of Nora. For the past three hours the bumps on the road were all that Nora felt. After a while Nora was just numb everywhere...
The sight of a concrete sea gave Nora the chills of excitement. As the horse trotted to Liverpool Nora spotted two armed guards observing something that was in someones hand.
Well this is odd. Never history class did they say that there were guards looking for people's IDs to enter a town.
The carriage stopped at the guards. The guards wore cloth clothes with chain mail underneath. Charles handed the guards something Nora didn't recognized. The guard inspected the item. A shocked expression went a cross his face, he bowed and motioned for Charles to go ahead. Charles accepting back what he handed to the guard and went through the gate.
The wheels then began to make the clopping sound as Nora realized that the road was now cobblestone. Saying this city was populated would be an understatement. People were everywhere. There was barely enough room for the carriage to move.
As Nora Liz and Charles rolled away from the gate they happened to stumble upon a market. The market was colorful. Everystand had a different color theme. Some were red, some blue and some even pink, and of course there were many many more.
It was a noisy place, all the shopkeepers were shouting or talking. Liz had the most exciting look on her face. She was experiencing in pure joy.
"Dad um, could we go shopping later, it looks... exciting." Liz asked with anticipation and joy.
"We will see Elizabeth, we should get settled before it becomes dark." Charles responded
Moving forward after a little while a brobdingnagian house came into view. It had an old Victorian vibe. With two massive towers on ends of the house and four stories and a basement. The main hall housed a grand staircase with a red carpet on it. A chandelier and many paintings. It also had some maids in it as well.
These line of maids took Nora aback Charles didn't seem like the type to have a lot of money. He would go hunting for food, and he had a garden in the back. He lived a simple life in his little cottage with Liz.
"You know I don't like you to greet me with everyone it's so… formally." Charles grumbled
"You know i have to sire." James explained.
"Yes yes…" Charles accepted.
"And who are these lovely ladies sire?" James questioned.
"Oh, I forgot you never saw Elizabeth yet have you. Well this is Elizabeth and this is her friend Nora." Charles said as he pointed to Nora and Elizabeth. Nora and Elizabeth greeted James with bows.
"Oh no you do not have to be so formal with me ladies."
Charles motioned us to get Nora's and Liz's stuff into their rooms. The rooms were extravagant. They looked like a room for a princess. Chandelier, fireplace, big bed, just amazing… After helping Liz set her stuff up it was beginning to become dark.
Nora headed to bed. Getting into the bed was as soothing as the ocean waves. Closing her eyes the days fatigue began to creep on her.
CRASH
The sound of glass breaking startled her awake...
