[Wall of Fire] (Lvl 2)
[Player Ashley MP: 69/80]
With that, Ashley cast her wall of fire spell right on top of where the spider queen was frozen in place.
[Player Ashley: Intelligence roll: 19. Flame barrier will last for 19 seconds]
[Player Ashley: Intelligence roll: 23. 23 Damage per second inside the fire]
The fire completely engulfed the giant abdomen of the spider queen, melting her in two.
In only a few seconds, the spider queen's entire body was completely cooked to a crisp. Before the spider queen died, she managed to chant off [Magical Defense Up!], however she died before the spell could even take effect. Only a horrifying stench remained, and the head of the spider queen fell down into the abyss below them, as the flames died down.
[Spider Queen is burning]
[HP: 37/60]
[HP: 14/60]
[HP: 0/60]
It was over in an instant.
Samantha quickly came to her senses, and held out her hand, which was still stuck to the cobwebs, towards Trevor.
[Heal!] [Heal!] [Heal!]
[Player Trevor HP: 35/35]
[Player Samantha MP: 35/50]
With that, the wounds that Trevor had suffered from the spider closed up in an instant. They did leave scar tissue where the stab marks were, but aside from that his body was as good as new.
"Who ever said anything about dying, woman? I thought you knew better than that... why do you think I went on and lectured you about being prepared in all situations?"
Samantha looked at Trevor holding back her emotions.
She was just happy that he was alive.
"You idiot!"
"Hah... even so... I had predicted that combination you would use, Ashley, but to think that such an overpowered set of skills exists..."
Trevor was of course referring to the combination of the paralysis spell and the wall of flame spell.
The wall of flame did damage per second in which the enemy was inside the fire, and as such it was difficult to deal a lot of damage with. Usually, it would be used as a deterrent to prevent enemies from entering a certain area, and even if they went through it they would only enter the flames for a second, thus only taking 1 round of damage.
However, the combination of this with the paralysis spell made this skill completely broken.
The spider would have been paralyzed during the entire 19 seconds which the flame wall was up.
19 seconds inside the wall, at 23 damage per second...
This would yield a total of 437 damage on a single opponent.
The greatest amount of health that an opponent had thus far was the spider queen, at 60. Even if she was only level 12, she seemed to be specialized in health over other things.
"Once again I didn't have any chance to attack, and our ghost here has taken the liberty of doing all the damage... sigh..."
Trevor seemed a little depressed at how right he had been.
He had predicted exactly that Ashley would be able to use the time he created by provoking the spider to attack her in the way she did, and fortunately Ashley had caught onto his plan.
If she did not, well...
Trevor would have died.
It was a gamble he made in the moment.
He could not risk telling Ashley his plan, lest the spider queen catch on.
However, the result was beyond a success.
No, it was an outstanding result. At only level 10, Ashley had abilities so great that he couldn't imagine her losing to anyone right now.
"You know... it feels quite good to burn the head off a bitch who was looking down on us...", Ashley snickered.
"Exactly so. The second she considered herself to be above us was the second she lost. And to think that I even went out of the way to explain to be prepared in any scenario... if she had stayed back perhaps she would have not been caught in such a trap.", Trevor explained.
"Not only that,", Garett continued. "She had that magical defense up skill. Had she not underestimated us and used that first, she would have been able to take some of our ghost's fireballs head on. If she recognized who the real threat was and charged right away, perhaps we wouldn't have stood a chance. This once more goes to show that being prepared is what defines victory... the outcome was already determined before the battle begun."
Garett looked somewhat disappointed as he made that last statement, however a predicament still remained.
"You... you..."
Samantha was now infuriated.
"WHY DO YOU HAVE TO SCARE ME LIKE THAT!!??"
"Would you stop yelling, woman?"
Samantha was enraged, and let out a rant on Trevor.
"Don't you ever do something so stupid like that again! If you're going to form some risky plan then you need to let me in on it as well! We're supposed to be a team here! How can you work as a team if you don;t communicate your intentions to each other, eh!!"
"I understand. I will be more careful next time. However, the fact still remains that this was an emergency scenario, and there was no opportunity to tell you my intentions here, lest the element of surprise be given away and the plan fail."
"Geh! Whatever!"
Samantha seemed to calm down after being refuted by Trevor, and Garett then brought up the problem that remained.
"Even so, we are still all stuck in this web. Do you have a solution for this?"
"Nope!"
Trevor said that so proudly that one would have thought he said 'of course!'
"But I'm sure Ashley can figure something out, right? See if you can burn these webs or something."
"If they break we will all just fall into the abyss", Garett reminded Trevor.
"That much is true, however which is better? Waiting here for nobody to come save us, or falling and hoping for another lucky roll?"
Garett grinned maliciously as he heard this.
"Heh heh... heh heh... it seems that we once more have to leave everything up to fate, eh?"
Ashley flicked her finger and a small fire was lit at its tip.
[Player Ashley MP: 64/80]
"WAIT!!! ARE YOU ALL NUTS!!! WHY DO YOU KEEP JUMPING INTO THESE THINGS!!!???"
Samantha yelled before anything happened.
"Do you have a better solution, Mrs. Idol?", Ashley asked sarcastically.
"Well... that's..."
"No? Then its time to fall."
And with that, the cobweb was slowly burned until a snapping sound was heard, and the entire web collapsed as the four fell once more.
