Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Two Moons

[Lance POV]

Why is it always about foods when it comes to Chris? I also don't know! I like to eat a lot and Chris definitely knows it. That's why most of the chapters in this book are about teas, coffees, pink milk, and everything with cheese. A lot of our memories are associated with foods and drinks, we eat and drink when we're happy, we do it with family and friends, and we eat out to celebrate. That's why most of the time I always appreciate foods as it is both a blessing from above that sustains us all.

Meanwhile, I'm also good at controlling my diet so I don't gain weight, but if you will see my junior high self, I'm chubbier and fatter back then. But I do miss and like what I looked at back then except for the entire colony of pimples in my face, and the sun-burnt skin I used to have. That's why everyone was shocked when I emerged in our reunions. They didn't even recognize me. I really changed a lot.

I went with Chris to the assembly. There's a funny awkward atmosphere between us. I am stuttering when we talk. While Chris often would complete my sentences for me. He has been taking care of me for months now. He's kind and charming and very handsome. Don't tell him I said that.

How should I react when he said that he missed me? Shall I just say that I missed him too? No, that would just make things more awkward. I did not miss you, Chris. But I did miss him. When I'm with him I feel at ease and less lonely, I feel protected and cared for. I love his company. He's like my junior high school best friend. I relied on them so much, but I know that we have our limits and boundaries. There was a time when Joy and JC were dating, and I needed to give them all the time they need. They say that friendship breaks when love enters, I disagree. Friendship is love itself and it makes the bond stronger. Rather, the entrance of romance in the equation certainly has its repercussions but the friendship can remain strong as long as we know our boundaries and sacrifice a few things unconditionally for the people we care for.

It's nice having Chris around me. For once, it is just us. We completed each other, everything has been nice and fun. I go home happy, and I become braver and I can now ignore what everybody says about me. He teaches me by actions and I learn how to accept myself.

We went to the registration booth; our school is just one tall building, and the first floor leads to a very big hall usually used for welcoming assemblies and graduations. Chris holds both of my shoulders from the back and pushes me to the booth with one of the professors.

"Section five?" the professor asked.

"Ah, I think so," I replied.

I searched for my name and put my signature on it. As I was about to drag Chris away. He also signed on the paper. What? Whoa! What the heck?

As it turns out, we are classmates for the new semester. I don't know if I'm happy or sad about this. Why didn't he tell me? I'm now scared of whatever will happen this new semester. If Chris can do a lot of things when we are in different sections, I wonder what he will do now that we are in the same classes.

"Hey, why didn't you tell me!" I asked him, pretending to be annoyed.

"I wanted to surprise you," he replied.

"Wow, I'm so surprised!" I said sarcastically.

"Now I can be with you all the time." He spoke with that voice of his which makes you wonder if he's serious or just joking.

I was speechless.

[Chris POV]

I'm classmates with Lance! Yes! I actually pulled it off! Do you think it's meant to be?

No! I take charge of my own destiny! I went to the registrar and asked for reassignment. I said that there is an activity for me every Thursday and that the schedule of section 5 would greatly help.

The school registrar who's in her late twenties was hesitant at first, but she cannot resist my charms! I'm the campus moon and the star varsity player. Being popular surely has its own special perks.

Now I can be with him and watch his every move. No, I'm not creepy. I just want to see his cute smile every second, laugh as he acts funny and awkward. Oh! I just felt butterflies in my stomach just now.

It has been months since the whole school was talking about us. Some were jealous but we're not even together yet. There are other boys who always look at Lance! I hate it

Now everyone got used to it, to these two campus moons dating. I wish!

We were once representatives of our sections in a competition to search for the campus moons and stars. It is a pageant, of sorts, the boys for the moons and girls for the stars. Lance was the cutest among the boys who competed and managed to win the first runner-up. He was very cute back then. No! He was pretty! Beautiful. Really. He has this cute charm around him but is also very handsome and conventionally attractive. He has the perfect face but that's definitely not just the reason why I fell in love with him, he is more than his looks.

I can't even explain why, he has this gender-neutral charm that can make both boys and girls want to protect him. He's like a bunny that needs to be cared for. A very cute bunny. And he is the kindest and most caring person you'll know. He is very fun to be with and if you're thinking that he's weak and needs to be taken care of all the time. That's not exactly true. I think that he will do everything for you if it comes to be. He loves his friends unconditionally.

At that competition, I won the title, but I fell. I fell for the first runner-up. All the stars in the sky lost their beauty when the other moon came up. Everyone was looking at him and his gentle smile.

I will willingly give up my crown for him. Can you imagine how he looked at that time?

He was standing beside me. He was wearing a silver laurel crown which fits him perfectly and makes him look like a prince from a fairy tale. And beside him, the King, or Prince, or Knight in Shining Armor with a golden crown who just wanted to marry this beautiful prince.

I sometimes feel like I'm weird but hey we all have our own fantasies!

"Ouch!"

Lance was poking his finger on the sensitive part of my back. It tickles. Then he gave a chuckle that made me weak.

I touched and pulled his cheeks apart.

One of the professors went to us.

"Mr. Reyes…" she was talking to me. "Your partner emcee, Ms. Sales wasn't able to attend. She said she's sick. Can you find someone who can do it? Can Mr. Alvarez do it? He's the second campus moon, and the other campus star isn't here yet and we need to prepare?" she asked.

"Of course, Ms. Wendy he can do it, I'll guide him," I said.

Lance was clearly shocked.

"Okay, thanks. The program will start in 30 minutes," Ms. Wendy ended.

Lance gave me a piercing but confused look.

"It's easy. I'll give you the script," I said.

"But... but...," he stuttered.

"But what?" I asked.

"The people, they will do that thing again!"

"Why, don't you like it?"

He was speechless.

He turned his back on me. What! Is he mad?

So, I ran to him and hugged him in the back. He smells so nice like flowers and oranges. Oops! I shouldn't have done that. He hit me softly on the shoulder.

"Don't do that!" he said.

"Okay, okay but we need to prepare now," I told him.

"Fine, give me the script." He obliged.

What I liked about this boy is that he can do everything. There's nothing he can't pull off. He will be hesitant and shy at first but in the end, he will make everything work. He's so skilled, intelligent, and talented. He acts timid sometimes but when he is in charge, he gains all the confidence in the world, that is one reason why he became the second campus moon.

The program went really well. We were definitely made for each other, a match made in heaven. We complement each other. The people cheered! They liked it.

[Lance POV]

I don't know what this boy is thinking. Volunteering me! He did not even tell me that he's hosting.

"Welcome to our most beautiful and handsome students. Especially to the one beside me. Hi Lance, did you miss me?" Chris announced to the whole school.

The people, oh no! They had those nonstop cheering again. They were taking photos of us every time, every single time, every second, and constantly uploading them. My God! We already had a fandom! And it has a name! Why are they shipping us?

The hosting of the opening ceremony went well. I was finally able to breathe. I just can't believe how brave Chris is. Imagine flirting on stage.

Miss Wendy thanked us for hosting the event. She gave me snacks saying that I deserve it for doing well even with very short notice.

Chris drove me to my apartment.

"You did great back there, Lance," he said.

"Thanks, it helps that you're there," I said.

"Really?"

"Yeah, I feel comfortable when you're beside me."

"You make me blush," Chris added.

Again, I was not able to answer him. He stopped the car and glanced at me. He smiled.

I lied on my sofa thinking of the long day. The vacation air is still fresh, but my classes will start in a few days. It's nice being back to school. I wonder how my friends are doing right now. We've never caught up again after our last trip. All of us seemed busy with our own affairs.

I opened my phone and checked Twitter. A hashtag was trending.

"The way Chris Reyes looks at Lance Alvarez is goals! And the ways Lance gets embarrassed is the cutest thing on Earth! #Chrisance"

"CHRISANCE FOREVER"

"Chris Reyes and Lance Garcia as hosts for today's event. What are the odds? I love our campus moons. They give me hope!!!"

"I live for Chrisance. Join our fandom now!!!"

"Two moons gracing the heavens. #Chrisance"

"Last year the campus star and campus moon dated. This year both of the campus moons dated. It's 2018 ya folkssss. I live for it."

"What they're dating…? I DONT HAVE A CHANCE ANYMORE!!!! But fine I support them, fite me!"

What the hell is Chrisance! Good Lord, these people have read too much fan fiction.

This is all his fault. We're trending again. And this time, I think everyone thinks that we're dating.
