"Run!"
He didn't have to shout that command to me as I am already trying to ran away from the hulking troll that is swaying his club towards us.
Unfortunately, we forgot about the chain. I was yanked towards him and slammed against his body, pinning him on the ground, beneath me.
"Stupid angel." he pushed me away as the club swung down nearly squashing us. "Just hide"
"Give me a sword." I asked
"Not on your life." he moved towards the left side of the troll, but the troll swiped his club through the ground hitting him hard and throwing him to the other far side, yanking me once again towards his body. I slammed against him as he tried to stand up.
"Stupid vamphyre." I muttered as I pushed away from him.
"Quickly get off." I might have been too slow, for he pushed me away and held the club between his hands as it came towards him. The strength of the ogre pushing him into the hillside, creating a dent in his shape.
I spotted his sword a few feet away. I grabbed it and ran behind the troll as far away and fast as I can, waited for the enchanted yank to happen. When it did, I pointed the sword forward and the power of the yank embedded the sword through his skull and out the center of the middle of his forehead. I felt the squished insides of his head as I was slammed beside the dent on the hill.
With the death of the troll, he was finally release from the push of the club.
He glared at the hole on the head of the troll. Then turned his glare at me, with his hands outstretched towards the sword in my hand.
"Thank you." I sarcastically murmured as I placed the sword into his hand.
"I could have killed him, if it weren't for your stupidity." he checked the blade and sighed, "Now we have to visit a blacksmith soon or the blade would wear down and become blunt."
Still no expression of gratitude. What did I expect?
When I walked beside the troll, I saw something glint near his belt - a saber.
"Don't even think about it." he was observing me on top of the troll's body. "Move."
The distance to the village was longer than we have calculated, the moon was rising when we reached the blacksmith located outside the village area. He looked at us strangely. The enchanted chain cannot be seen by the naked eye, but for creatures like us, those powerful enough - they would see the glimmer. So I guess, it's my clothing or lack thereof that made him curious but it seem to be of no import to the vamphyre who just stared back at the blacksmith.
"I would need a day to finish this, and it is already meal time." he placed the sword near the furnace, "I might have to put it off until tomorrow."
The vamphyre approached the wall lined with weapons and picked claymore from it.
"Then I would borrow this," he placed a bag of coins on the table, "make haste to finish it tomorrow before the sunsets."
I swiped a dagger from the table as I walked past it, hiding it in my pants, when I followed him out.
I thought that we were going back to the forest but he walked towards the village proper instead and went inside one of the tavern.
We were greeted with a boisterous atmosphere - men drinking, a lady or two dancing at the sides, several serving drinks and meal. Almost half of the tables were occupied with rowdy men and women shrieking or giggling.
"A room." he placed a few coins on the counter, "and hot water for a bath." he looked at me and my annoyed face as I thought of sharing a room with him. "New clothes for the lady and me as well" He added a few more coins on it.
His actions drew a few eyes towards us but it was as quickly returned to the activity in their table and we were ignored.
The man across the counter took the coins and counted. After writing something on his log, he asked. "Name?"
"Nathaniel Winters. Lord of Irendale."
Irendale? I felt the cold engulf my entire body. No!
When he turned towards me and saw my pale face, he snide and put his lips near my ear.
"Surprised, aren't we?" he whispered, "And more to come."
He followed the man towards the stairs, when he saw that I have not moved, he went back and held my hand tightly, nearly crushing the bones.
"Don't make me drag you."
I followed numbly, his hand still tightly holding mine.
The room is adequate yet not as large as the room given to me at Irendale.
My private prison. A gilded cage of silver and silks.
"Take the first bath. Make it quick and make sure to leave the water still warm." Lord Winters ordered as soon as the guy left us. He walked to the door and closed it, placing the chair against it.
"Or do you want us to go together?" he asked when he saw that I remain rooted on the spot
I immediately moved towards the tub with steaming water, thankfully it was behind the screen. I removed my clothing and hid the dagger and gems between them. But my gratitude was short lived as he took a seat on the bed, right across the tub and he watched me as I stepped naked into it.
"They have provide some scented lye and cloth for you to rub the dirt from your body." I looked at the things he mentioned placed on top of the table that was beside the tub. "Use it sparingly."
He leaned against the headboard, placing his feet on the bed, and stared at me as I reached for the cloth and lye. I felt conscious of my nakedness somehow. Even after everything else, why does his stare embarrasses me?
When I got out with water dripping from my naked body, he threw a cloth towards me.
"Dry yourself and get dress." He pointed to the clothes on top of the bed beside his new set of clothing as well. He walked behind the screen, giving me momentarily privacy, "I'll give you ten counts before I moved back to get to the tub, move fast."
I had to secure the gems and dagger first, so when he walked back I had the shirt around my head, showing my naked breast and waist. I could feel heat going up towards my chest area, neck and face.
He snided and moved behind me, pulled the shirt down to cover me. And pushed me towards the bed.
"Stay there where I can see you."
I sat on top of it. Facing the side. I could hear him remove his clothing and put several things aside. From the corner of my eyes, I saw pale flesh and a naked behind before he soaked his body into the water.
