Chapter 1 - His Hatred

The branches are cutting to her skin but she doesn't mind, all she could think of is to run. Gasping for air, not for the first time, she tried to jump from one tree to another, missing her wings not for the first time either. He's near, she can feel it to her bones. The danger and darkness he brings with him is like a cloak spreading through the forest. When she stepped on the wrong branch, gravity took hold of her body, slamming it onto the uneven land, stones and roots jabbing her skin. One sharp stone sliced her shoulder. Yet she welcomed the pain, it means that she's alive, that she can still run.

Pushing her heavy body up, she tried to stand only to discover that she twisted her ankle once again. It would be broken soon, if she let this happen for one more time. Her speed would not help her now, she body is too battered to carry her across the forest and into her hideaway. He would follow her tracks and that will be the end of it. She closed her eyes and scan her memory for the layout of the forest, she almost have roamed through half of it for months. If she could just remember another way, a temporary place where she could hide.

"Yes. The cave."

She immediately pushed her body against the tree, trying to get the boost she needs to stand up and run again but her ankle only permitted her to skip. Sitting down again, she tore the side of her shirt and made a temporary bandage to support her ankle. This should hold it until later.

Once again, she used the trees to haul herself up and pushed against it to run. She couldn't tell how long she has been running, but she finally heard the angry sound of the water. She looked up to see it fall into the deep big lake in front of her. But the crashing sound of the fall masked the danger until it grasped her neck.

His smile like a spark in the darkness and she could only stare at his eyes burning with hatred.

"This is your end, angel" He squeezed hard, choking her. "Finally I will get my revenge."

Maybe this is really the end. She stopped her hand from clawing his away and let it rest beside her tattered body. Finally.

"I've dreamed of seeing your eyes filled with despair." He gritted his teeth and squeezed harder. And pulled a dagger from his side. With one hand holding her neck, he started to push the dagger into her chest with another.

She could feel her hands getting cold. Hear herself grasp for air. As she stared at his face, the face of her death - it looks so beautiful, she could only try to smile. Finally.

Finally, this is the end.

A tear ran down her face as she smiled.
