A week later***
"Ryan told me you caused a commotion in college." Carter angrily sounded from the other side of the call.
Nora's eyebrows frown with displeasure. "How did he know that?"
She precisely didn't want to tell Ryan so that Carter and Karan won't be affected by her first day drama. By now she already knows who Parth Maurya is and why people were so afraid of offending Parth above all of it. Knowing that Karan can also get involved in the mess, she especially didn't want him to know about this.
"Whole college knows that commotion. But Ryan said that the person you offended is not just anyone. You offended Maurya's only son."
This afternoon when Karan called him and told him about this, he didn't sound that concerned as much as Carter was.
In fact Ryan sounded more concerned than Karan, but, for different reasons. When Ryan got to know about what happened in the college and when he saw the video he knew at once that person is no one but their Nora. Then remembering Mike with Nora, strings attached too well. He was concerned for Nora personally, not because for NK enterprises.
On the other hand Carter had heard a lot about Mauryas for a very long time. Maurya's were at top for more than a couple of decades. Offending someone like them can never be a good thing to anyone.
Before coming here he read about big families too. And with that information he knew one thing about the Mauryas as an important fact that John Maurya and his father love their sole heir more than anything.
From the other side of the phone call, Nora could feel his worries easily. And knowing that because of her someone is tense and feared, she got annoyed.
"Uncle, as far as I remember I handle my own stuff. Please don't worry about my stuff."
Her intentions were pure, but being always aloof to everyone, she lacks in her language skills, and knows nothing about how to express her feelings to others.
"Nora! Do you know what kind of problem you might bring to your company? Mr. Maurya cares a lot about his son. If he tries to avenge his son then we will be so done." Carter couldn't hold his anger.
He wasn't angry at her insensitive words but was angry at her for taking things so lightly. If they were still abroad, he would care less because they had nothing to lose. However here they have the whole world to lose. And they definitely can't afford it.
Nora got silent for a few seconds. She didn't deny the fact that Maurya's are powerful. However...
"Are we that weak?"
Why does Carter sound so scared? All these years she might have no interest in her company or power, but she knows very well that NK is not something that can be messed up this easily. NK enterprises has made his place very strong in the business world too.
"Even if we're not, it brings us no good to fight against Maurya enterprises."
"We won't be. It's my problem, I'll handle it."
She has no plans on including her power into such small fights. Although she understands that her fight might be small but with the one she fought is no one common. She didn't want Karan to face or to get this much worry because of her wrongdoing.
Only she is guilty of Parth, but her family, and Karan isn't. If Parth tried to bring his family dominance in their fight, she wouldn't forgive him for that.
And above all Mike assured her that he won't get her life info to Parth. By that she believed that Parth won't bring her personal life into their fight.
"How will you? It's Parth Maurya. He will never listen to your explanation. And you can't let him hurt you. You know what, let's change college. I don't want you to go back to that college anymore." Carter gave up.
Facing off can't be an option and no man would forget his embarrassment with any apology. Moreover, a powerful person like him, in fact, might be planning to ruin Nora's future by now. The best he could think was to leave the arena when they still have time to leave.
"Uncle... I'll take care of my matters. Please enjoy your vacation only. And tell Mr. Gill and Ryan to not worry about this. I'll hang up first."
