As her car left, Matthew hastily called his dad. "Hello, dad?"
"Hmm?"
"I am taking Nora out for lunch this Saturday." He informed.
"..." His dad forgot to say anything. The news was too big for him. It's been years since his son has been trying his way to that girl's heart and he genuinely supports that.
He and his wife want Nora to be a part of their family for a very long time. It has happened many times that Matthew has given up and went into some other relationship. But after playing for a few days within a month he would always ask for a breakup.
Matthew never compromised with anything but always compromised everything when it comes to Nora. And that's how Mr. Jonathan and his wife knew that Nora is the right one for their son.
After a second of grasping the realisation he almost shouted. "Really?"
"Yes. So do not give her any work or take her anywhere on Saturday." Matthew warned her dad.
"...First time ever you are useful to me." His dad emotionally commented.
Matthew got confused. He felt like being insulated but then also felt being complimented. "Is it an insult?"
"No, a clear cut compliment. Don't worry, I'll give her a holiday." Jonathan recommended his ideas.
"No. Don't do that or she will definitely not come. Moreover, if she stayed at home with the thought of enjoying a holiday with her brother, there would be unexpected plans for sure."
"Oh right!" His dad realised the fact too. That's the biggest disadvantage of Nora's. Her love for her brother. "Okay. I'll call her for work then won't give her any work."
"No you won't do that even."
"Okay then I'll tell you not to come just a day before that day."
"Dad! You don't have to tell her anything. She won't come if you don't ask. That's it."
"Ohh... Right."
"...Dad?"
"Yes."
"Please be natural. Don't bring me any trouble."
"You… What do you think of me! I am hanging up."
***
"Nora?"
"Yes, uncle?"
"Come to the drawing-room." He said as he walked out of the dining hall.
Nora and Krish who had just finished their dinner looked at each other with a questionable look. Knowing nothing, they both shrugged their shoulders and stood up to move on his orders.
Both Nora and Krish took their seat on a couch in front of Carter where he was having his herbal tea.
"What happened uncle?" She asked.
"I think I am ageing Girl." Carter said with a sad smile.
"... Aa?"
"Sorry?" Both Krish and Nora asked together.
Carter felt embarrassed but didn't back off and said those words again with little more explanation. "I am getting old day by day."
"..." Both were left speechless with confusion.
"Uncle?" Nora asked with a twitching lip.
"That's true Nora." Carter strongly said his point again.
"Ha ha ha…" Krish gave a dry laugh to his blatant words.
"No, you are not." Nora sneered with those ridiculous words. "What are you even thinking all day? Are you not going out to play golf or to your club?"
Carter's eyes started looking right and left to find his answer, however, all he could say was again something related to his age. "I am already 56."
"And you think that's the age you call yourself old?" Nora rolled her eyes. Unlike other Butlers, her uncle is very young and definitely not old to call himself in such a magnifying way.
"But he is definitely old." Krish uttered with pursed lips to stop himself from laughing.
"Krish." Nora reprimanded.
Krish instantly shut his mouth to her call.
Carter wanted to smack Krish's back head for calling him old, but in front of Nora, he plainly ignored him and started speaking again to Nora. "Your school is about to end. Isn't it?"
"Yes. But don't call me old for that."
"You won't be a school girl then."
"... What are you trying to say uncle?" She perplexedly looked at him.
"After that what? Gonna attend college here?" He asked with a deep voice.
With his one sentence, Nora knew where things were going. She clicked her tongue and shook her head with his childish behaviour.
"Uncle." She disappointedly calls him.
Carter didn't mind her depressed tone or her looks. Wasting no time he continued and added. "In a few months, you will apply for college too."
"Uncle, please. There's no use of it." Nora sighed and tried to end the topic again. She instantly wanted to leave but also didn't want to disrespect him.
Carter noticed her leg movement. Bending forward he clasped his hand with seriousness. He knows these few tricky words won't help him, so he finally came out.
"I just don't want you to give up on everything which is yours." He said earnestly.
"I don't need those things. Others can handle it however they want it." She unbrotherly answered.
"Nora, they are all yours to begin."
"And I had clearly said that I don't want it, number of times, Uncle." She said and looked to her right, where his brother was slouching carelessly.
As Krish has the same right as her overall, those assets she asked him to. "Krish, do you want it?"
"Want what?"
"Power and money or anything you desire?"
Krish hastily shook his hand in denial. "No. Never. All I want is you."
He cares nothing about those assets. As long as they have money to live comfortably, he cares nothing less about those properties and companies.
Nora calmly fling her hand as she spoke. "See problem solved. No one is unhappy here with any loss."
