Even if she said one silver Coin he didn't know how much yen it was or how many dollars would it make. He then asked carefully,
"How much of a real money is equivalent to one silver coin?"
"Eh...Real money? Sir, if you are talking about the currency from two years ago then we don't take it anymore. Seriously sir, at which time are you living in? One silver coin is equivalent to only 100 copper coins. It's not much to be cautious about, one quest and your loan will be paid in full." The female said.
One quest and the debt will be over? The phrase caught his attention. He immediately said,
"OK, I'll take the loan."
The female then took back her hands and took out one silver coin from her pocket and put it in the drawer.
"OK sir, now that the fee has been paid, I'll hand over your badge and encyclopedia to you."
She then handed over the so called encyclopedia which was more like a smart phone and a badge which unexpectedly had his be written on it and what caught his attention wasn't his name written on it but its colour.
The color if the badge was that of a copper and was made up of copper. Only a glance was needed to determine his rank. A copper rank adventurer and one without experience at that.
The female then pointed at the encyclopedia and said,
"If you come across a monster you don't know of, you can just scan it using the camera at its back and it'll provide information regarding the monster."
So, it worked basically like a pokédex. The word monster didn't catch him off guard as well as the whole adventure thing. Because when he first arrived at this unknown place, he saw many monsters he was unfamiliar with and people here were raising them as pets.
Then he placed his hand on the desk and said,
"Can I get some information?"
"Of course! Sir, if the information is not related to the confidential matters regarding guild, I can easily share some information." The female said with a smile.
"What?" Ryuga exclaimed in surprise, "I didn't need to join the guild nor become an adventurer to get some information if it wasn't related to guild? Why didn't you say it sooner?"
If she had told him beforehand he wouldn't have risked becoming an adventurer.
The female sighed and said, "Sir, it was you who directly told me you wanted to join the guild and the matter regarding information wasn't brought up, if you had asked me about it sooner I would have definitely help."
He was at fault this time so he didn't persue the matter any further. At least he had a job now even though it was full of risks. He then asked her,
"Can you then provide any information regarding Japan's incident and the current world?'
She replied, " Of course, it isn't something new. From what we know it started two years ago when temperature all around the planet rose abruptly and a few days after that monsters were seen all over the world. Magic too was found at the same time but after two whole weeks of scorching heat, the temperature returned to normal. Everybody was overjoyed by the fact that they didn't have to bear the hotness anymore when the ground started shaking violently. "
"The volcanoes in slumber erupted, the bars were breached and water flooded the lands and many lives were lost in an instant. But something different happened to Japan. It disappeared in thin air when others were traumatized by the disaster. The authorities didn't persue the matter any further and did their best to calm people who survived. I mean half of world's population died in an instant."
"Many people died and Japan disappeared in thin air?" He was shocked.
The female nodded and replied,
"Yes and after many meetings the authorities finally made an decision. That decision came to the world as a shock. They decided to merge several countries as one to tackle together. The previous known continents were made countries. After that the largest country came into existence which got named 'Albania' which was new name of continent 'Asia' as a country."
It was difficult for him to process all the information at once. Seven continents became seven countries, magic and monsters came into existence, and what pained him the most was his homeland in which he was laughing and sleeping just yesterday had disappeared two years ago.
Although Mr. Park had said it to him before he thought they were playing but now she said same thing as Mr. Park. Had Japan really disappeared? He felt like crying but no tears fell from his eyes. He just silently went towards the quest board to complete some quest. No, he just wanted to forget about the Japan for now and survive in this unknown place to unravel matters regarding Japan. So, to survive first thing one had to do was work hard and earn money.
He just had to finish a quest and get the pressure of debt off his head and then go on adventures. When he saw quests on the quest board his face stiffened.
'That witch tricked me!'
Although there were quests that offered silver coins, they were all for Bronze rank adventurers and others higher ranks.
As for the copper rank adventurers the quests only offered four to five copper coins per quest.
He then turned his head and glared at female receptionist but she said nothing and only smiled at him.
