Rin and Joaquin were watching a woman working behind a bar. That was Touga Nagashima, a potential criminal they were investigating into. Rin had short, tomboyish hair dyed purple. She had olive skin and wore a jacket that had a patch labeled "Rin Bonacci," her full name. Her partner, Joaquin Lopez, was short and had black hair. He was growing a mustache above his lip and wore a dark green turtle neck. He turned to Rin.
"So that's Touga Nagashima," he said looking back. "She's just as attractive in person."
"I swear you and Eric are just the same, only interested in girls." Rin replied rolling her eyes.
"What, are you jealous?" Joaquin asked.
"Of you? No, I'm good. You seem like your always too distracted to be in only one relationship."
"I'm offended, but suit yourself. I'm gonna go talk to her."
"Good luck, I'll watch from here."
Joaquin Combes back his hair as he walked forward. "You do that," he said and pulled up a seat.
"What can I get for you?" Touga asked as she was cleaning a glass.
"Oh I can't drink," Joaquin said. "I'll take whatever's non-alcoholic."
Touga raised an eyebrow, "so hot chocolate sounds good?"
"Yeah, I'll have that." He leaned back in his chair putting his hands behind his head. She was silent as she made Joaquin's drink. He was starting to realize how bad he was at small talk. "So... do you come here often?" He asked, and Touga kind of just stared at him. He wondered why, and started sweating nervously. "What?"
"I work here," she said staring him in the eyes handing him a mug of hot chocolate.
"Oh, of course." He said fumbling with his wrist. "I guess I meant, are you new?"
"I am, and that's going to be $2.99." She left Joaquin to help someone by the other end of the bar.
Was Rin right? Am I really this bad? Joaquin thought. He came to the realization that investigations weren't really his strong suit. Being a detective would be hard without such a crucial skill. Although he was mostly upset he was bad at flirting.
Joaquin got a text from Rin. "Wow, you really do suck. I'll take care of this." Joaquin turned around to see her shaking her head. He left 4 dollars on the table and left, without his drink. Rin passed him on his way smirking.
"You do that," Rin whispered to herself. "What a moron."
Joaquin sat in a chair to watch Rin. After a bit, Touga went to where Rin was sitting. They started talking for a bit, and then Touga noticed Joaquin watching. He waved, and Rin turned to look at him to. Rin told her something about him, probably making fun, and Touga started laughing. They chatted for a while even after Rin had gotten her drink and paid. All of the sudden, Touga started writing on a paper and handed it to Rin. They hugged and waved goodbye as Rin walked towards Joaquin.
"Woah, what was that?"
"Magic," Rin said as she showed Joaquin the receipt Touga had written on which had her phone number and email. "She's not the criminal we're looking for, but we still gained two things from this."
"Besides a random random girl's phone number?"
"We know that she has faulty paper work since she's working but our records show she was unemployed. That and you have a date now."
I really do have a lot to learn Joaquin thought. "Wait, what?"
"Well, Kinda."
