Ken made his way to the schute, but as he approached he recognized security check-in. It hadn't been there before. He approached the check-in by the vehicle elevator. Luckily, the area wasn't as crowded as earlier, so he had no trouble with traffic slowing him down. As he drove nearer, the officer stopped Ken, putting his hand earlier.
"You using the elevator?" The man asked. "I'm gonna need to check your bags, and please put any other loose items in here."
Ken did as the man said and put everything in the bin the officer had pushed over.
"Why is there a security check-in by an elevator?"
"It's not normal, but there's been some trouble happening around here recently. Enough to install this."
The man started searching through Ken's bags and pulled out Fuyuji's spare mask. "What's this?" he asked.
"It's for a costume... It's kind of old."
"Just the mask? No suit or anything?"
"Yeah, it's just that."
"No problem with that. You can go through now."
Ken grabbed his bag and made his way to the elevator. It seemed as though Neo-Tokyo was going to be receiving a lot more attention from the police. Ken stared into the horizon as the sun rose above the bay. Ken liked seeing the sunrise. He knew it was cliche, but it was something he loved about Japan. It wasn't like America didn't have sunrise or anything, but in Tokyo it was different. Ken drove back across the Ishida bridge while lights turned on, stores open, and Japan began to wake up. It wasn't long until Ken arrived at his apartment, and as he parked his bike and walk up the stair, his phone started to vibrate in his pocket. It was Itsuki. Ken didn't know her to be awake so early in the morning, so he picked up.
"Hey, Itsuki. What's up?"
"' Morning Ken, sorry to call you so early. You're not busy today are you?"
"I'm free in the afternoon. Why did you want to meet up or something?"
"Yeah actually. I've got the day off and figured I should make use of it. How's 6:00 at the Ishida Cafe?"
"That's the place we went to yesterday, right?"
"Yeah."
"Alright, then I'll see you there."
"Okay, see ya'," Itsuki said as she hung up.
Ken put his bag in the closet but pulled out his mask. Ken decided it was safer to get rid of it than to keep it. If he was going to be hanging out with Itsuki and she found the mask, he might get into trouble. Although he would need to keep it if he ever went out as the angel again, so he decided against it. He took one last look at the mask as he put it in a loose board under a carpet. He jumped to his bed and fell asleep almost instantly. Ken would need the rest after such a long day.
