Chapter 2 - I am not naming anything

"This magic spell will allow us to peer beyond the Vail" excitedly said the being clad in a green robe.

I watch as my brother excitedly explains the intricate workings of his nearly created spell he refers to as cosmic projection. I've never understood magic, Hence the reason I'm the goddess of the harvest its a tiring job but fulfilling.

I've always wondered how I came to be, I mean I'm a goddess with unimaginable power. I'm as curious as the mortals.

As such my brother the god of magic is researching a way to find the answer. Oh he didn't create magic like so many mortals believe, he merely studies it and derives new spells and applications for magic.

There are many gods that came to the unveiling of his new spell. They're all excited. Anyone would be if they were about to uncover the secrets of existence.

That's what we all taught, unfortunately we uncovered something else. something evil and unfathomable. It was for a moment but the power its Intent radiated far surpassed any God I've ever met, Not even the old gods can compare.

I Trimble in fear, tears cascading down my godly face as I watch my brother being consumed by the darkness left by the intent. The other god and I try to dispel its corruption to no avail. The terror still lingers, fear overturn the god's curiosity. Many flee, once proud and Almighty gods reduced to what can only be describes as panicking chicken.

I stand alone with my ailing brother, my heart heavy. He turns to me with tear filled eyes, with a voice filled with sorrow he said "Dess..go..run...warn everyone...there something beyond the veil its..."

"no"I yelled with resolution burning in my heart. "I won't leave you regardless of my certain demise.

"GO he yelled back" heavy tones of impatience laced within his voice. " I am loosing control. whatever it is corrodes my will, it seeks to silence us all. " he pants soft whispers that were not his own could be heard with every breath, the crackle of bone shifting and breaking intensifying. water like fluid blacker than the blackest of inks pore from his darkened eyes, veins of darkness twines across his body. He struggles to continue his voice mixes with those not his own "Dess I.....I was wrong I was...to eager I didn't consider the consequences." The whispers become louder." It knows of us, and I fear we showed it a way to invade the realms. I'm sorry Dess Its all my fault"

"its not" I wailed. my tears flow like water as I escape. The guilt of abandonment threatens to destroy my heart. I know that I'm a coward for abandoning my only brother but I know he cannot be saved, I know that I must inform the old gods. This darkness whatever it is must not be allowed to corrupt the realms.

"Is this true" asked a goddess seated on side of the unam faction of the old council

"yes...my brother...he...he was corrupted by that ...THING" I answer, terror, hatred, remorse laced within my voice.

"FOOL" another god bellowed anger his apparent. "playing with forces they do not understand"

"calm yourself euthious. they do not know the truth of the veil much less what reside beyond it. it is no fault of theirs but ours for not informing them." interrupted a god on the Iuam faction of the old council. many of the gods gave him curious glances upon hearing his words.

"YOU KNEW" I angrily yell, the hatred I feel for the darkness slowly becoming inclusive of the gods that are seated above me.

His gaze falls upon me. A bit of fear swept across my heart.

He lets out a tried sigh. nodding his head he spoke."you're but a young god unaware of the details of events passed." he paused for a moment Indecision apparent on his face only to be replaced with conviction." even most of the older gods are unaware of hidden truths..." he once again paused his gaze sweeping the across the seated gods, few nods in response to his gaze."...we came to know of what resides beyond the veil during the war. At the time I was a young god barely five cycles old. The war against the other races put us gods on the brink of extinction. Thankfully the sacrifices made by the ancient gods and a lot of luck saved us from such a fate. It was during the battle between the ancient ones and the last of the titangiants that we got a glimpse beyond the veil. During the battle the titangiants with their strength accidentally tour a rift through space, time and causality, for a moment revealing what resided beyond, Its terrifyingly presence was felt by all the gods, power unfathomable even for us. Luckily the ancient once closed the rift in time." he pauses then continues "many of you weren't there to experience the events of the war first hand. great beings were destroyed, many races annihilated, universes turned to dust, dimensions destroyed, realms shattered. such chaos such madness for reasons I do not know. But what I am certain of is that what resides beyond that veil would bring far more chaos far more destruction."

The gods of the council sit unmoving disbelief and scepticism could be seen on all but few of their faces.

"If..if what you say is to be believed then what can be done." nervously said a god seeming new on the council.

"we prepare for the worst and hope for the best. I will inform the ancient ones about this hopefully they can find a solution to the corruption." he replied with worry slowly blossoming on his face.

Within an empty space devoid of the very concept of nothing, something suddenly appears. glowing symbols arranged in strange patters violate the emptiness.

Suddenly a voice could be heard accompanied by purple light its origin unknown "mmm.. a letter from our junior gods.."

"oh...they dare disturb our rest." another voice could be heard accompanied by red light.

"they would not disturb us without valid reason" a third voice could be heard accompanying it the color green.

"mmm....let's see what's so important that our intervention is n...e..d..ded" the voice begins to slow shock in its tone.

"we we need to inform the overgods....the void...it.....someone has been corrupted...they..they disturbed the void."fear lingers with every word spoken

"why are you afraid. you know the void cannot get past the veil." said the voice accompanied by red light.

"they created a spell.... the...a god was corrupted....the...the corrupted one has declared war...he spreads the darkness of the void... he...he...he says he will silence us all." fear grows ever stronger with each word uttered.

"oh....oh....shit" responds the voice that mingles with red.
