I watch as a goat, (at least I think that's what its called) wanders through the cosmos its black fur glistens in the starlight. white curved horns taint its glorious dark visage, golden rectangular eyes cannot help but shine illuminating the darkness of the grassy field, tendril-like hair sway on their own. It knows I stalk it throughout its journies. It ignores me. well, I've never tried to speak to it before and neither has it to I. It wanders aimelessly as I watch. Oh, it's able to notice me because it is not a mortal being nor is it a being of any race. well it is just a lone cosmic being wandering aimlessly, tho it has parents, I think, perhaps it is a member of a race.
As I've been stalking...no watching this creature I've come to enjoy observing it's slow and aimless jaunt. I grow ever more curious as to why it wanders. The desire to ask strengthens. Yet I am a bit reluctant to communicate due to the events involving those beings that are called gods, tho I am unaware of the final outcome, I lost interest.
Well, it doesn't matter, it'll be interesting regardless of the outcome.
And so. Utilizing the method of intent projection I modified to use darkness. I attempted to communicate.
"Why do you wonder," I ask
"because there is much to see" the creature
"what do you wish to see" I once again ask
"everything" the creature responds, with a momentary pause it asked a question of it's own "why do you stalk me"
"because I am curious" I respond
"why are you curious," the creature asked
"Because I do not understand" I once again replied
"what do you not understand," the creature asked, its tone seemed to have changed
"Why do you wonder " I respond with what I think is a question.
"... because there is much to see" the creature responds
"what do you wish to see," I asked
"what are you" the creature responds with a question.
"mmm...I do not know" I replied, curious of myself
"...all I sense is darkness and the longing for silence" the creature responds, its steps halted.
"silence lost is peace forgotten"I speak"the light brings noise, destroyer of peace"
"....you're a realm...I see " the creature continued "you must be a dark realm"
confused I respond" a realm...."
"yes. as far as i can tell" the creature answered my confused babble.
It continued "well your different from what I can tell" it pauses"more akin to oblivion, the abyss or perhaps the aether."
My confusion grows, I reply" I only know of another like I, it spreads light, it gives light, it is light I abhor the light"
It was the creature's turn to receive confusion's torment, thus it spoke: "you do not know of the abyss nor oblivion...there's a realm of light?" the creature suddenly enquired.
I respond"well yes you do not know of it? it is all around you, it caresses your face when the darkness fades, it gives you sight to see beyond yourselves, it loves you as it bathes you in its embrace."
the creature's face changed its eyelids droop in suspicion" ahh..so there's a realm of light, unknown to us beings...I see" it said.
"tell me of those similar to I" I enquired.
The creature sat on the luscious grass caressed by the night of the endless field "father once told me that the realms we live in are entities onto themselves. They have been long before existence itself and will be long after. " the creature sighed, I sensed a hint of something called emotion with.
"you have a progenitor," I asked
"....yes. tho I do not know of my fathers nor my mothers" It answered.
continuing its earlier explanation it spoke, "not all realms have wills of their own, thus most of existence resides within." the creature leid down. its two front legs crossed cushioning its head." it is said that the demons entered a pact with the abyss." its eyelids drooped "and the heighest order imperials sealed the aether" its eyelids drooped further "as for oblivion. none dare to seek it. "the creature's eyelids completely closed, its movement halted.
I watch as it leid there, the light once again came to caress its glistening black fur. Unable to tolerate the presence of the light I shrink behind the blades of grasses.
Once the light left, darkness once again covered what the creatures of this realm call the sky.
The creature eyelids parted, revealing its rectangular pupils contained by a golden glow. it stands, continuing its aimeless wandering.
"How are you capable of comprehending my intent," I asked curious of the different outcome compared to those called gods.
"I do not know, perhaps its because I'm a cosmic being" the creature replied.
"do you intend to continue your stalking," the creature asked
"yes" I respond.
The creature sighed disappointment within, at least I think its disappointment.
"if its to be so... then you may call me ram" the creature said. it continued "others call me the black goat."
I remain silent for a moment "very well you may call me ...." I sank into silence "darkness." the customs of these beings using what they call names seems odd to me.
"then darkness is what I will call you," the creature said.
We once again fall into silence. As it continues to wonder I continue to watch.
One day the goat halted. A cavern seemingly bottomless and infinitely wide rested in its path.
I gaze upon a glistening black goat, its curved white horns the only blemish on its visage, its size large as what the beings called dwarves refer to as a mountain. It stands at the edge of a cavern even larger.
"Why do you stop," I enquired. Never before has the goat faltered before an obstacle.
"This cavern, its bottom I cannot see, its width I cannot leap, its vastness I cannot comprehend. it is the first obstacle I've ever known." said ram, its fur dances with the wind.
"Will your journey end here" I asked.
"no" the goat shaked its head. "I will continue. regardless of my uncertainty"
I inquired no further, resuming my passive state of observation.
Walking on the groundless space the cavern consisted of. The goat continued its journey.
Once again I continue to watch. The goat is unable to sleep as it walked on emptiness.
I retreat to the darkness of the cavern whenever the light returns.
"darkness. how long have I been walking?" Ram asked.
"long?...."I asked back, confused.
"Are you unaware of the passing of time" Ram enquired
"I am somewhat familiar with what you beings call time" I answer.
"yet you do not understand what is the length of time" Ram once again enquired
"beings such as yourself perceive what you refer to as time differently than I," I answer
"I see...then how many times has the light shown." Ram continued enquired
"three hundred thousand and seven times" I replied
The goat sighs, exhaustion crept across its face.
Deep within the depts of the cavern something moves, its size as large as the cavern itself.
Suddenly an eye which size seems to be infinitely large appeared at the bottom of the cavern. peering up from the depts it sees a wandering goat threading over the emptiness of the cavern, It staired for a while.
Eventually, its pupil slightly shrank.
