The next day, as the sun began to cast its gentle morning light, Zan awoke and left his room. He made his way to the living room in their house, where he found his older brother sound asleep on the table. Zan paused for a moment, taking in the scene.
His brother, Emero Zum, bore a striking resemblance to him. From their eyes, noses, to the natural dark blue hair covering their heads, it wasn't dyed or anything like that.
"Why is he sleeping there?" Zan wondered. He was puzzled by the sight of his brother lying there. Perhaps his brother couldn't be bothered to go to his bed upstairs.
"I better wake him up," thought Zan as he approached his slumbering brother.
"Hey, wake up, Bro! It's morning," he said.
"Huh!"
Zum awoke, hearing his younger brother's voice, and sat up at the table with still half-closed eyes. He seemed reluctant to open them.
Unlike his younger brother, Zum was incredibly lazy, yet he possessed great strength. Zan had no idea where that strength came from. Day by day, Zum would lie around, rarely venturing outside, except for when he worked on his fields. Nevertheless, he was Zan's older brother. Their naturally dark blue hair covered half of their faces, hiding one of Zum's solid blue eyes.
Zum opened his blue eyes, the same shade as Zan's. With a still sleepy-looking face, he asked Zan.
"By the way, why was I asleep on the table?" Zum asked, rubbing his face.
For a moment, Zan narrowed his eyes and felt slightly annoyed by his brother's lazy nature. "Shouldn't it be me asking that?" Zan thought.
"Oh well, I want to sleep more," said Zum, leaning back on the table.
"Hey, at least sleep in your room!" Zan yelled to shoo his brother, who was still above him.
Crash...
Zum fell off the table in surprise.
"Ouch! Alright, I'll move to my room," Zum replied with a hint of pain.
Zum walked upstairs to his room. When he was almost upstairs, he stopped for a moment, as if he had something to say.
"Oh, Zan! Can you prepare breakfast today?" Zum ordered, turning around and looking down at his younger brother.
"Isn't it always me who makes breakfast every day?" Zan thought.
Hah...
Zan sighed and scrunched up his face.
"Alright," Zan said, turning around and heading towards the kitchen, not far from where he was standing. "What should I cook today?" Zan wondered, seemingly a little unsure about what to prepare.
Creak...
Zan looked up, raised both of his hands, and opened the cupboard above his head. Inside the cupboard, there were some eggs and seasonings. He grabbed a few eggs and decided to make an omelet.
Zan lit the stove in the kitchen and fried the eggs until they were done.
----
Zan sat down and prepared to enjoy his meal, which was an omelet.
"Bro, I've prepared your breakfast on the dining table; eat it after you wake up!" Zan yelled so his brother could hear from upstairs.
"Yes, yes! But I'm already awake," Zum replied, his voice startling Zan while he was enjoying his meal. Unlike usual, Zum woke up to have breakfast with his brother. Typically, Zum was still asleep when Zan cooked breakfast, even when Zan went to practice with Glen, Zum didn't show himself. But this time was different; Zum was active, and he walked toward his younger brother.
"What did you cook today, Zan?" Zum asked as he walked over and slid a chair to sit.
"Well, today I made an omelet," Zan replied after swallowing his food.
"I think it's quite delicious. You should try it, Bro!" Zan glanced at his brother, who was now focused on a plate of omelet on the dining table.
Zum took a bite. "Hmm, yeah, it's pretty good, Zan."
"Exactly."
The two of them continued breakfast in peace.
---
"All right, I need to go to work now," Zum said after finishing his meal.
"Emm, okay," Zan replied briefly while looking at his brother getting up from his seat.
Upon hearing his younger brother's response, Zum walked out of the house. Honestly, Zan wasn't too sure if his brother would work diligently, given how lazy he seemed.
"Perhaps he'll fall asleep while working," Zan thought as he stood up and headed to the front door.
"Now it's time for me to train!" Zan said enthusiastically.
---
Zum left the house and made his way to his field, which wasn't too far, about 300 meters away.
He passed by several fields, observing the villagers hard at work. However, Zum averted his gaze and yawned a few times.
"Finally, I've reached the field," Zum thought when he saw the field in front of him.
He looked at the wheat he had planted three months ago. The wheat was now starting to dry, looking ready for harvesting.
"It seems the wheat is ready for harvesting. But I'll wait for another week; I feel lazy right now," Zum thought as he lay down in a small shed he'd built near the field.
Zzz... zzz...
Some time passed, and Zum was seen sleeping again.
