There wasn't any time to eat. A couple bites in and he was already being pulled. Sounds of a struggle were heard off in the distance and eyes seemed to be peering at him during the transfer from his cell to the weapons room.
He picked the same weapons as before. The short sword, dagger, bow, and the quiver. Along with a stubbed pair of knuckles.
Grabbing the light armor, he also grabbed an extra pair of cloth and tied his long hair up. The giant had caught him off guard. Wonders of who was about to stand in front of him boggled his mind.
He got to the arena doors and took a deep breath. Going through the bright light, the crowd Rose from their seats. The man who just took down a giant not more than an hour ago stood tall and prepared.
"Coming from the North Doorway, we have the man who took down a giant, the mysterious, quick witted master of the sword, Meko!" the announcer shouted while the crowd showed in praise. Meko looked up to the crowd and took notice of the high end attire they wore.
The crowd died down. The sounds of chains came from the south side. "And approaching from the south, the man who talks to metal, with chains weighing a ton, Vincula Shackles!" The silence was thick. Chains scrapped across the ground with heavy footsteps.
A man wrapped in chains, dressed in black, stepped into the light. He had chains wrapped around him from head to toe. Two chains dragged behind him from his ankles and two drug from his arms. The chain from his left arm had a spiked ball and the one from his right separated into three ends.
He began twirling the left chain and started walking towards Meko. Meko slid the sword from his hilt. In a fast pace, Meko got closer to his enemy. When they were ten feet apart, and chain ball rushed out of the ground.
Meko's eyes widened as it crashed into his chest. The impact sent him flying into one of the trees behind him. With his sword tight in his hand, Meko picked himself up off the ground. His breathing was heavy and his legs shook.
He brought his sword up and began running toward Vincula. Both chains began spinning. Each time the right chains struck the ground, Sparks flew. He flung the left chain to Meko and caught his sword. As soon as it was wrapped around the blade, Vincula yanked the chain away and flung the sword out of Meko's hand.
Meko quickly grabbed his dagger, and ducked under the triple chains. They just barely grazed his hair, burning it. There chains smashed through several trees, causing them to singe.
The second Meko dodged the chains, he was gone into the woods. He was up in a tree, checking out his armor that was already cracked from getting hit in the chest earlier. His sword was gone now. Somewhere near Vincula.
He had the bow, but what good would that do when his enemy has chains wrapped around him. Then he had the knuckles. But once again, how was that supposed to do anything. All of his weapons were weak.
Only thing helping him in this fight were his wits. He had to think fast. Suddenly, the triple chains wrapped around Meko and pulled him from the branches. Slamming into the ground, Meko then picked himself up but was yanked into the air before he could recover.
While in the air, Meko turned his body to Vincula. He grabbed his bow and an arrow and started firing down. Vincula twirled the chain at the arrows and they bounced away. Meko landed on his feet and aimed another arrow.
Vincula Shackles was a man born with the ability to manipulate metal. Due to this, and constant slavery from his child hood, he learned to use his ability to use chains. Using them as almost a third limb, he was in a higher rank than Meko.
Meko had no ability and only experience on his side. With the odds pitted against him, he lowered his bow and sheathed his arrow. Fighting wasn't going to get him out of here very easily. Ranged and close combat was out of the question.
Meko bent down and picked up some sand. He took his dagger tight in his other hand and began charging at Vincula. The chains rushed at Meko, but staying focused, he weaved in and out of the barrage. The chains retracted back to Vincula in a matter of seconds.
Before they could be launched at Meko again, he was right in front of his opponent. The chains began snapping at Meko, but each was dodged with just moments to spare. Meko inched in closer with each attempted blow, when he was an arm's length away, he threw the sand into Vincula's eyes.
His enemy stumbled back, waving the chains around. One of them had struck Meko in the ribs and sent him crashing into the ground. He rolled to his feet, holding his side. If he had to guess at least two of his ribs were fractured, if not broken.
An injury so minor would not stop him. He charged at Vincula once more, moving out of the way of the random strikes of the chain. Once close enough, he put the dagger in between a row of the chains and into Vincula's side.
"Agh! You bastard!" Vincula grunted. He turned to Meko and threw a chain. It wrapped around Meko and began pulling him.
Vincula began spinning the chain with the spiked ball. Once it was no more than a circular blur, he threw the ball at Meko who was helpless but to stand there. The metal spiked ball hit Meko square in the chest just as the triple chains fell off him.
The air from his body exited all at one time. His body went ragdoll and was thrown through the trees. He finally crashed into the arena wall and fell to the ground. Blood fell from the side of his mouth. His breathing was in small bursts.
He grabbed the ground and tried pulling himself up. Once his arms were extended, the three chains whipped him in the back, causing burns on his armor. He fell back to the ground, face first in the dirt.
"Finish him! Finish him!" the crowd yelled. No one here cared about someone else's life if it were to hinder their own. "Finish him!" They all just wanted to see the population controlled through sheer bloodshed. "Finish him!"
Meko attempted to pick himself up. Vincular was right before him, holding up both of the chains connected to his arms. A psychotic grin showed under the chains wrapped around his face. Meko looked up and met his hollow eyes. This was the face of a true killer.
Meko took a breath. The dagger was still tight in his hand. Vincula took another step to Meko, his chains clanking together and against the ground. His focus was begining to blur. He felt his body getting heavy.
Another step the maniac took. Meko's gaze fell from his enemy's face and down to the ground. He realized something. Vincula didn't cover his feet. Meko's grip tightened. He launched himself towards Vincula and managed to put the blade right through his foot.
Wailing in pain, Vincula stepped back and as he did, Meko thrusted himself up and landed an upper cut with the studded knuckles. The bottom of his jaw was also unprotected. Feeling his body weakened, Meko stumbled for the short sword. It was only a couple dozen feet away.
If he could get to it before Vincula recovered from his attack, then maybe he might still have a chance. He forced his body to run as fast as it could. He slid on the ground to grab the blade and was headed right to Vincula again.
By this time, Vincula's eyes were red with rage. He began smashing his chains into the ground, causing tremors in the arena. With Meko being as injured as he was, the Earth shaking under him made him stagger like a drunk man.
With the blade still in his foot, Vincula kicked it away, sending into the crowd above them. His right side was slower now and not causing as much damage. That was the side Meko aimed for. The chains had finally stopped destroying the ground.
"You've caused me enough pain in this fight." Vincula said. His side continued to bleed over the chains and his foot had a dagger blade sized home in it.
"I can say..." Meko coughed and wiped the blood from his mouth, "...the same for you..." He took in a deep breath and yelled, "Are you ready to end this?!"
Vincula began spinning the chains and Meko took off in a dead Sprint. In spite of how his body ached and screamed at him, Meko pushed himself. Deflecting blow after blow from the lashing chains, his arms felt like they were pushing mountains.
A chain launched for his right side, so Meko stepped to the left and used the sword to redirect it upwards. Another chain flew towards him, so he jumped away, bouncing the chain upwards to follow the one before. Both of the chains landed behind Vincula.
Using every bit of the strength he had left, Meko sliced into Vincula's side, perfectly in between his chains. Eyes widened, Vincula let out one last grunt and fell limp. His chains no longer hitting against each other.
Meko held his stance as the body fell from his sword. The crowd was silent in anticipation. Was Vincula going to get up. Did they just see a six streak winner die before their eyes. Finally one of the spectators began clapping and cheering. Soon the whole arena chanted Meko's name.
None of that phased him. For as soon his blade pierced through and took a chunk of his enemy's side, his body stopped and stood frozen. He was passed out in the same stance.
