Chapter 29 - Chapter 7: The Escape

Diana Marchand's POV

I was getting out of the shower and I was happy to know that I will be eating my favorite food that was prepared by my mother. I was happy while I was sitting at the table with my father at the end and my mother at the other. Xavier and I faced each other.

"So, Xavier, how was the experience to be Beta for a while?" My father asked him as I was looking at the food, trying not to jump in on the talk.

"It was good. We found someone that was being attacked by the rogue," he said as I turned to look at him.

"Oh my. I hope the wolf was doing okay?" My mother asked as Xavier was nodding at her.

"Yeah, he is. He was Arthur's younger brother," he said as I stopped in my track. Does Arthur have a younger brother?

"Diana, are you alright? You look a little pale," my father started as I turned to look at him. I smiled.

"Yes, it must be the heat from the training that I had," I said as I was fanning myself. I was looking at the food again before father has a say in that.

"I have trained you guys in the Ancient way. Why would they wanted you guys to fight in the other was beyond my understanding," he said as I was looking at the food, trying not to speak up.

How wrong I was?

"What do you mean by that? By your view, maybe the Old way was good but we have to adapt to the New way, dad. We don't know the enemy of the New World. Maybe it's time to think about it, don't you think?" I said as I turned to look at my father. I can see that he was trying to control his anger before he took a deep breath.

"Well, as for you, Diana, you don't have to worry about yourself. You're the future Luna, of course, you don't have to fight in every way," he said as I was trying to get frustrated. Was that I ever mattered to my father.

Future Luna?!

"I think I have lost my appetite. Thank you for the food, mother. It was delicious. Too bad I cannot say for the company," I said as I stood up before I carried my plate and went into the kitchen. I can sense that my father was gripping the utensils too tightly.

Good.

I was putting the plate into the dishwasher before I went outside. I don't know where I was going but I know that my heart yearned only one thing.

Arthur.

I let my feet carried me into the woods. It was night time before I was looking around and I did not care. It was in the territory pack and I know that I was safe, since Arthur was the head of the security.

"Fancy seeing you around here, princess," Arthur's voice was filling out the area. I tried to hide my smile as I turned to look at him. He was leaning against the tree, with only black pants. He was like a Greek God under the moonlight that was shining on his toned muscles.

"I thought you were going for your rounds, Gamma?" I asked as I was looking around and there was no one here. He smirked before he was looking at me, up and down.

"And I thought that I told you to stay put at home. Was that so hard to follow a simple instruction?" He asked before I turned to look away, trying to control the anger in myself.

"I don't want to be home right now. The company…is not pleasant at the moment," I said as I started to walk along the trail. I know that Arthur would follow me, to make sure that I will be safe and sound in one piece.

"The rogue has not been sighted. I think you might want to step into the packhouse or anywhere that might…"

"Listen, Gamma. I know that you're worried and all but I don't need you to pester me around when all I ask was a time to think for myself, okay? I know that the rogue was around but I can take care of myself and if it pleases you, your scent was so overwhelming that I think he was afraid to come at me right now!" I shouted at him as I was trying to control my anger right now. But I was aroused as well when Arthur was in that half-naked stated right now.

He blinked at my outburst before he was assessing me. I hoped that he did not sense that I was aroused cause that would be awful and here it was, my mate, standing in front of me not doing anything that would ease the arousal in me.

"Or she. You know, we can never think that rogue was a male. It can be a she-wolf," he replied after some time.

"Urgh!" I exclaimed before I went out of his way so that I can control the urge to throttle his throat or bite it. I don't know which one I wanted to do right now.

"Diana, you have to go home. It's not safe," he shouted as he was running toward me. I don't care. I want to be out of here but I don't want to be out of his presence. His cinnamon scent calmed me and my wolf. She purred at him.

'Kiss him,'

'Take him,'

'Claim him,'

It has always been that chants that made me wanted to go up on Arthur right now. In the middle of the woods and the middle of the night. Just like how we were right now.

"Diana, please. Just go home," he said before I turned to look at him. He stopped a few feet from me before I was walking toward him. He was standing still before he was arching his eyebrow.

"Let me ask you one thing, Gamma," I said as I was looking at him. He arched his eyebrows now.

"Is it true that the rogue has attacked your brother?" I asked as I was looking at him. His face turned grim. He nodded.

"I'm sorry," I said as I was looking at the ground. He sighed.

"What's happened has happened. I cannot protect him but from now on, I can do whatever I can to see him settle here," he said as he was looking around, maybe trying to here the danger that might be lurking around.

"So, if I was to ask you a favor, would you do it?" I asked him before his green eyes were staring at me.

"What?" He asked as he was looking at me, intensely might I add. I sighed.

"Look, we both know that we're true mates but I was still bound to wed the Alpha. I don't know how to call off the engagement…"

"Don't worry, I already have a plan," he said confidently.

"You do?" I was taken back a little as I was blinking at him. I don't know that he was having some escape plan for me to get out of the unwanted wedding.

"I will be talking with him in the morning and perhaps by then, we can truly be together after all," he said as he was looking at him. I scoffed before I crossed my arms at him.

"If you think I will be with you, mister, maybe you should think…"

"If I don't claim you, you will go crazy. I will go crazy. We don't want that now, do we? Even you know that we have to mate somehow and maybe later married and settle down," he said as he was taking a step further toward me. I cannot turn away from him as I was looking into his gleaming green orbs.

"If I was to kiss you now, you would let it happen. You know it. Just let it happen, Diana,"
