Chapter 14 - Chapter 4: The Encounter

Xavier Marchand's POV

I woke up super early as I heard that my mother was busy in the kitchen. My father, God rest his soul, was dead last month as he was being a traitor to the Alpha and the new Luna decided that he should be dead.

I think that was the wisest choice ever.

My mother, who has been beaten up by my father since I was a child, was happy and she was sighing in relief when I told the news. I asked her why before she said that she was arranged to marry him. They were never true mates and it did not bother her that she was dead.

I mean, it should but I guess their relationship was for the public anyway.

I walked past my sister's room. I know she was not there anymore as she had been married and live happily with her true mate. I always thought that she would marry Caleb but they both find their mates and I was happy.

Until it was my turn.

I was a Beta to Caleb and I know that even though he did not mention it, Caleb was hoping that I will found my true mate as he did. I mean, Marina Kasun was the granddaughter of the old man that responsible for his father's injury but the past was in the past.

I think they had even the score with Caleb killed him.

Marina did not like it at first and she was about to call off the wedding but they made up and I think that was why they were expecting so soon. They just can't keep their hands off each other.

"Xavier, what are you doing in front of your sister's room?" My mum asked me in French, her mother tongue. Yes, I know what you guys were thinking. Why do we speak French instead of Greek or Turkish? It was because my mother was a Frenchwoman and she wanted us to know the language of hers as well as our father.

"Nothing, I just remembered her. I wished she was still here," I said as I turned to look at my mother. Her eyes softened as she sighed.

"I know, dear, but she was not going anywhere. She was right 50 meters away from us," my mother laughed as I was scowling at her. Since I was the Beta of the pack, I have to live near the packhouse as well as the Omega, Delta and Ultima. The Ultima was the special one since they have the right to turn humans into werewolves with their bite.

They never turned anyone as far as I'm concerned.

There has never been an outsider that resided in our pack that was not a werewolf. The new Luna was apparently from the Old Council that her grandfather was in and she was a werewolf by blood. So, no need for Ultima there.

I sighed as I went to the bathroom. My mother has her bathroom in the master bedroom but for the kids, we still using the separated bathroom and since my sister was not here anymore, I used that all by myself.

"So, will you into town today?" My mother asked as I was passing the kitchen to get to the bathroom. It was located in the kitchen and I think it was not convenient at all. What if someone was to barge into the house? I would be humiliated.

"Yes, we have another delivery to be made. Our lumber was the one that carpenters sought out these days, I said as I was yawning again.

"Well, that's good news. More money for the community,"

"I hope so. But we have to limit them. It can damage the forest," I added.

"Well, I'm sure Alpha Caleb knows what to do with it when our supplies were about to die out," my mum said as she patted my cheek. I went inside the bathroom without any delay before my mother asked more questions.

After I took my quick shower, I went to the bedroom and put on my usual attire; black button-down and jeans with combat boots. I will be carrying a lot of woods so better get moving.

"See you later, mum," I said as I went to take a French toast and a cup of coffee.

"Be careful," my mum said as I went to kiss her cheeks. She was smiling at me as I went out of the kitchen into the forest before I saw some of my boys were going to the lumbers that we stacked last night.

"Are you ready, boys?" I asked as I was drinking some of my coffee before I crumbled the paper cup and threw it away.

Whenever you are, boss," Zack said as he was nodding at me.

"Well, let's get to it," I said as I instructed two people for one lumber. We put it on the truck that we have before we went to the town. It will be suspicious if only two men were carrying one big ass lumber so I make four people carried the lumber when we were at the carpenter's shop.

"Thank you so much, Xavier. It has been helping the export of our country," the old man said as I was smiling at him.

"No problem, Mr. Papadaupoulus," I said as I was looking at him. He gave the money for the lumber before we moved out to the next shop that requested our lumber. It was a busy day but I was happy to get out in the morning air before heading back home and maybe do some of my woodworking as well.

As we finished delivering the lumber to the last shop that was beside the popular cafe among tourists, I smelled that familiar scent again. I was looking around as I know most of the people and some of the tourists were not here yet. I can see there were 4 or 5 people that I don't know about.

Then I saw her.

She was wearing a sundress with the sandal as her blonde hair was cascading on her back before she froze as the car was fast approaching her. Why the dumb woman did not move?

"Look out!" I shouted before I was running toward her as fast as I could. I don't think anyone can see me as I was moving with supernatural speed. I jumped on her as we were on the sidewalk again. She groaned before I growled at her and that stupid car. Then I looked at her.

The eyes that were the greenest I ever saw in my life.

The slim face that I never saw and the nose that was straight that I can kiss right now.

And her mouth, it was pink and plush as it was opened a bit.

She was surprised to see me on top of her as she was assessing me as well. The wolf in me purred at her sight as it was calming down.

'Mine,' it purred before I shook my head. I snarled at her as her eyes were wide.

"Are you fucking out of your mind?" I said and I just realized it was the dumbest opening line I ever said to anyone.

"Excuse me?" She asked in English as she was blinking at me. She was a tourist so she did not understand English at all. I cleared my throat as I got off from her as well as pulling her up to her own feet.

"Are you alright, miss?" I asked as I switched my tongue to English. Good thing I went to the University that used English as its medium of teaching.

"Yes, I think I survive for the week," she said as she was looking for any injuries. There was none, thank goodness or I might lose my shit.
