Chapter 39 - Any pointers? (2)

Tiara Jewels

Ground Floor, The Reception

The female employee had her mouth hung open when she saw the handsome stranger enter. The handsome stranger was wearing a white shirt accompanied by a pair of black pants and a long overcoat. He had a head full of chestnut hair, a sharp and sexy jawline, and a scar on his forehead, that seemed to intensify his good looks. He was the cream of the crop. She straightened her back and fixed her shirt as well as the knee-length pencil skirt. She then flashed a bright smile on her face in hopes of catching the attention of the handsome stranger. But alas, instead of struggling at the desk and begging to let him in, the stranger walked with long strides towards the private elevator. Then, he inserted the keycard and boarded the elevator.

The female receptionist was shocked and sad at the same time with the futile turn of events. The other employees also sighed at the receptionist's haughty ignorance.

Sara was sitting in the conference room, impatiently checking on her watch and tapping her long, slender fingers on the cream-colored wooden tabletop. The white door suddenly opened and Sara straightened herself. Allen entered through the door. He had his hands tugged inside his coat pockets. He closed the door behind.

"Good morning", he greeted.

"Sit", Sara nodded an approval, "Any progress?"

"Progress, definitely", Allen pulled a tablet from the inner pocket of his coat, "I am not sure about how much it will help."

"Did you find out where they took Sam last night?"

"Intriguingly, yes", Allen nodded, "They took him to his family mansion."

"Family Mansion?" Sara raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, I had my drone go after them."

"Any updates on the repository?" Sara frowned.

"We stayed back last night. It seems they use the repository only when needed. Because they left in a huge ensemble of cars. They were heavily guarded and we could not follow them. I tried using drone footage but the car windows were thick enough to pry in."

"It seems like the other party has access to good technology and paraphernalia", Sara smirked.

"Indeed", Allen scowled, "That's a cause of concern."

"About the assault last night?" Sara tilted her head.

"Buried the three bodies. I must say you have not lost your excellent marksmanship. It is the same as ever. They were instant kills. And of course, they had something to do with the mastermind, without a doubt", Allen smirked.

"That's all?" Sara asked.

"Not at all. The interesting thing about those three men was that they were reported missing by their family members."

Sara raised an eyebrow before she squinted, "That's strange and thoroughly interesting."

"That's true. One of them has been missing for eight months, according to the family members, while the other two were reported missing for almost a year", Allen explained with a serious frown.

"That goes to show how adept they are and how they thwarted the police", Sara slammed her hands on the table.

"Indeed, that's not hard to miss. The way they created the replica of the Villa inside that tiny repository shows their wherewithal. They seem well prepared which means the mastermind is quite the genius."

"Try to find out who or how they got their hands on that piece of land in the middle of the jungle. I understand that they will never do such a mistake, but you have resources too", Sara voiced out her thoughts.

"Hmm", Allen nodded, "I will."

"Any updates on Sam?" Sara asked as she leaned back on the chair.

"I have insider news", Allen nodded with a smirk.

"What about it?" Sara sat up straighter and propped her chin on her intertwined palms.

"You won't believe it", Allen sat up straight too, "The employees have growing frightened of his extremely cool and light-hearted nature. They are used to the serious Sam Fritz who was known to be a workaholic."

"And?" Sara raised her brows with interest.

"He has reportedly been slacking off in his office. Moreover, in a recent meeting with the Board of Directors, he fainted from nervousness!"

"What… the… hell?" Sara tilted her head, "I always knew him to be quite confident."

"That's indeed strange. Moreover, he spotted flirting with female employees. They are really afraid of his strange attitude although they had once dreamt of holding the position by his side", Allen shrugged.

"Did they brainwash him or something?" Sara asked, "How can a person change so much? While Ruby had already told me about all these, I am still shocked."

"My question is", Allen leaned back in his chair, "Can indoctrination change someone's personality?"

"The hell?"

"Well, here's a gift for you", Allen waved a pen drive in his right hand.

Sara raised her eyebrows to a sharp angle and turned on the laptop placed on the table. Then, she reached out her right palm. Allen precisely released the pen drive on her palm. She felt the coolness seep in before she grasped it securely.

The system showed the notification of an external device is plugged in. She clicked the pop-up window and a folder opened showing various media files.

"What are these?" Sara asked without tearing her gaze from the laptop screen.

"A feast for your eyes", Allen spoke in an excited voice.

"Cut the crap, Allen", Sara spoke impatiently.

"See for yourself", Allen added grumpily, "I gave them for you to see."

Sara heaved a sigh and clicked on the files. The screen turned black before a video started playing, making Sara quirk an eyebrow.

The video was that of the conference room of the Fritz Groups. The Board members were seated around the table. Sara expected a serious-looking Sam heading the meeting. Though she could not hear what was being said, she could still see that Sam was being nervous. The video was taken from a side and it was lazy to look.

"How did you get your hands on such confidential things? It is risky as well as illegal", Sara said, shutting the video screen.

"As a matter of fact, I have my men watching over. Though it will not come in handy for now, we might need it later", Allen spoke with nonchalance.

Sara nodded at his words.
