Chapter 5 - Red Tooth Mercenaries

-IronShell: Rear Docks District

At the rear end of IronShell is the docks district. The place looks like any old docks you would find in a town. Ports for stationed vessels, bars to get hammered in and plenty of workers loading and unloading goods to and from warehouses.

As orfal is walking down the docks district he notices one perticular warehouse has a viscious blue diamond crust crab being brought in by a hunting party. The crab was about 18 feet tall and 12 feet wide, and thats with its legs restricted by adamantine cables.

Up close the crab had jagged spikes protruding from its top shell and its hammer like claws looked capable enough to cut a whale in half with one snap.

"I wouldn't want be caught facing one of those out at sea." Says Orfal as the crew halling the beast finally passes by.

"If ye think that is scary wait till you see what a fully grown one looks like". Speaks a voice behind Orfal.

"How big does a full grown one-Whoa what in Sindri's forge happened to you!" cries out Orfal in shock.

Oral turns around to see an old white haired dwarf with a prostetic crab hook for a left hand and a chitin peg for a right leg.

"What's with the fright lad, ain't never seen a dwarf with a hook before?" Replies the old dwarf while giving a big smile. To add more to Orfals shock the dwarf's mouth has a pair of silver dentures filled with rows of tiny shark teeth.

Shivers runs down Orfal's back as he senses a strong danger coming from those teeth but he he returns a nervous smile back to the old dwarf.

"Haha I'm only messing with you lad the names Huldir." Speaks Huldir as he holds his right arm over his chest in a traditional dwarven greeting.

Orfal returns the arm greeting and says, "Orfal is this ones name and I dare not mean offense for my rude outburst. I am honored to meet such a dignified senior."

Huldir beams with delight at the praise and assures Orfal there is no hard feelings. After breaking the ice between Orfal and Huldir the two get along quite well.

Huldir notices the boarding pass in Orfal's hand and offers for them to head over to the Red Tooth docks together. Since Huldri was already on his way there himself it was a pleasent coincidence.

The duo arrives to the Red Tooth Co. docks and is met by a bustling bunch of sailor dressed dwarfs who are busy loading anything from sacks of potatoes to large carts of coal to very large ammunition shells onto the vessle.

One of the foreman dwarfs sees the pair of dwarfs arriving and blows his whistle at the sailors while shouting, "Attention you scally wags the captian is now here. Make way for his excellency."

Orfal quickly steps to the side to make way for the captain but is puzzeled when he finds there is no one behind him. Once we looks back at the foreman he notices that Huldir gives a solute to the sailors before saying at easy to the bunch.

'Well thats a huge coincidence.' Orfal thinks to himself.

Huldir notices Orfals initial confusion but just laughs as he introduces him to the foreman, allowing his foreman to handle Orfal's boarding pass and placement.

Orfal expresses his appreciation to the captian and eagerly hands over his boarding pass to the foreman while the captian boards the ship.

"Well what do we have here then, ahh a contract boarding pass for a months worth of coal shoveling labor on the hunting expedition crew ship. Please go ahead and board the vessel behind me. Follow the saliors carrying the coal to the engine room and the oversheer will give further instructions from there." Says the foreman as he looks through his manifest.

Orfal's face becomes stiff as he doesn't believe what he just heard. His doubts cause him to ask, "Foreman sir I believe there has been some mistake this boarding pass is for the week long recreation expedition trip not the month long hunting expedition."

The foreman gives a serious glare at Orfal causing him to flinch back from the foreman. The foreman then laughs and says, "Haha good one Mr. Cavetoe, I can see why the Captain likes you, joking to ride on one of our famous relax and recreation vessels when its you who defaulted on a year long loan and is now indentured to shovel coal for our very... dangerous... hunting vessel. Now carry on I got more work to do."

Orfal's mind has shut down at this point but his body seems to have taken over control and walks itself behind the saliors carrying coal. One of the sailors thrusts a shivel into Orfal's hands and thats when his brain starts back up again.

'Dundrid Cavetoe, I swear by Sindri's hammer you will pay. For if my name is not Orfal Brownfury the bringer of fear, trasher of steel, deliverier of-'

"Hey coal serf move it! We don't got all day this vessel needs to depart within the hour." Yells a salior behind Orfal as the sailor starts to push him along.

After the vessel is loaded a few horn blasts are sounded and the vessel starts to descend underwater. It then heads towards a massive circular doorway that has runes all around it glowing red. As the vessel approach within 20 feet of the door the runes slowly light up yellow one at a time until the red glow is gone. At this point the runes all flash green and the door opens up allowing the vessel to pass.

The other side of the door is a large tunnel with different exit and entrances that have runes above them denoting the speed of water flow that a vessel will enter or leave in.

This tunnel makes up the large tail of thr IronShell submarine fortress and will help propel a vessel outward if exiting through the part closest to the shell.

Captain Huldir checks his propulsion systems one final time then he sails the vessel out the closest exit of the Shell, torpedoing outwards at 300 knots into the dark undersea world.
