Chapter 1 - What Hurts the Most

Mo Changying wasn't the most ambitious person in the world. In fact, if one were to ask her parents and close relatives, she was really quite lazy. She didn't go to school and studied at home, rarely left her room, and spent more time huddled in her bed reading Transmigration novels on her phone than she did doing anything else!

Pei! But of course her parents couldn't let her sit in her room her whole life, so they dragged her all the way from the house to the largest beach in F Country!

"Ying'er, please! You can't stay in the house all day! Besides, the beach is a great place to open up!" Father Mo declared proudly, from where he was setting up their chairs and umbrella.

Changying had already been forced into a swimsuit before they left the house, a white one-piece suit with an open back.

"Ying'er, go swim while father and mother finish setting up!" Mother Mo said, taking a blanket from the bag she's brought and doing her best to set it down despite the wind.

Changying nearly dared to argue, but when shot a look, she reluctantly left to get into the water.

The moment she got into the water at chest level, she felt her whole body relax. The water was cool today, and she could tell her muscles really appreciated the treatment.

The waves were strong and by she noticed she was drifting, her feet could no longer touch the floor and the water was up to her neck.

In the far distance she could see her parents, their arms waving at her to tell her to come back, so she swam forward. Unfortunately, due to her weak body from a lack of exercise, her form was terrible. Each time she would be able to go forward, a pull from the ocean would yank her back a bit further than her original spot.

Her legs and arms started to feel heavy, and she had nothing to grasp onto to stay afloat. As the waves pulled her further and further from shore, she could see her parent's faces turn pale with worry as they started to panic.

Unable to keep moving even if she wanted to, Changying began to panic as well as she struggled to keep herself afloat. The more wildly she moved and flapped her arms around, the more tired she became and her movements became stiff. Really? Is this the way she was meant to die?

Her movements grew weaker before they stopped altogether. Before she began to sink, she held her breath, trying to think about anything else she could do to stay afloat.

The water went over her head and she was pulled down deeper.

Her vision began to darken.

Her lungs burned so horribly, as if they were being squeezed with a brute force.

It hurt. It hurt so bad!

She instinctually opened her mouth to breathe and coughed, the cough pulling more water into her lungs until they were entirely filled with salt water.

'This sucks. I should have just stayed in bed, who said the ocean wasn't dangerous?! Come out, I promise not to beat you!' Her mind was able to string together some thought, before all thoughts were erased along with her life.

Such a shame it was when she woke up again.
