Chereads / GOD OF THE SPIRAL Book 1 / Chapter 2 - The haunting reality. The Stranger.

Chapter 2 - The haunting reality. The Stranger.

Car's pass by on the street as the sun steadily climbs into the sky. Ryōshin's all dressed for school looking for master Rin around the house.

---------------------------Ryōshin's P.O.V------------------------------

"Old man..." I called after spotting Rin by the doorway basking in the morning sun sipping his tea.

"Hmm... " Rin hums looking over his shoulder to see me all dressed.

"You bastard! You're leaving for school! With whose permission?" He said and angrily rushes towards me while drawing his sword.

"Ehh! Oi! Oi! Hey!" I said stepping back from Rin's attack.

"Have you forgotten?" Rin flash stepped under me and placed his sword to the side of my neck.

"Practice!" I said as i look him dead in the eye. With no time to waste I umped back. Rin was seriously mad. I pushed my hoverboard aside and dropped my bag. "well, well old man! Do your worst." I smirked "That's if you catch me before I get you. Give me four minutes!." I said to Rin tauntingly.

"If you beat me, I'll let you change your shirt as honor." Rin said smiling as he struck a defensive pose.

"Shirt! Sounds like you underrated.....!" I gasped as I looked down at my shirt that had two slashes. My three piece uniform had two slashes through and through but my skin was still in tact. ("The hell!! I didn't even see that!") I thought to myself.

"Hey Master Rin... This is just practice right?.." I said making sure my voice gave off the worry I was feeling and now knowing damn well that Rin was gonna slap me around for being a smart ass earlier. I began putting on my fore arm guards since I'd be the one attacking this time. The guards fitted like gloves, they were equipped with Jade spiked essence to help me tackle and stop Rin's sword.

"Looks like you're having trouble keeping track." I asked trying to taunt Rin into letting his guard down as I zoomed around the room at high speed.

"You're quite talkative today aren't you?." said Rin standing like the untouchable with his eyes closed.

"Is that so?". I asked feeling the anger spark in me at his mocking tone. I jumped off the wall aiming for his left but changed position midair to a frontal assault. "SPEED PISTOL!!"

"You've gotten stronger, not bad" he said blocking my fist with his sword despite getting pushed back a little.

"But let's kick it up a notch." He took a stance I knew all too well. He raised his left hand in front his face while making a fist. Ill admit he was just standing there relaxed but he was on guard with his sword in his right hand.

He muttered a word and I could feel the surge of energy emanating from him. He was opening the first eye of his Agbara orii-son. "Shishen release!!"

"Since you asked for it." I said increasing my speed knowing Rin was gonna hit me as hard as he could.

"I can still see you!" Rin said with a sigh

"See this is why you should not skip practice! It's not even worth defenses! "

"Now let's try that new move!" I said picking up the pace.

"WIND Cyclone!" As the vortex began to form.

"Impressive, but you'll need more than speed to stop me." He said still standing there, and even tho I was the one up high it felt like I was being looked down at.

I took the opportunity to blitz into the vortex before it vanished planning a melee attack. "NOW GO DOWN AND STAY DOWN!!"

"Hey, hey, hey now, that's dangerous. Someone could get hurt " Rin said as he did a 90 degree turn coming face to face with me and smiling.

I honestly had never seen Rin move so fast, he then slammed his heel into my face sending me crashing into the wall opposite him.

I jumped up glaring at him "I thought you said this was a practice match! You almost broke my jaw!" I yelled ready for a confrontation.

Rin bore a surprised look and aiming for my face rushed over towards me as I stumbled backwards trying to avoid him. Instead he drove the sword through the wall barely missing my left ear "do you think the ones after your head will pity you? " he asked with a smile, "don't ever miss practice again."

"you old geezer! Fine I won't." I said pouting know he's right.

"I told you to stop calling me that" he said slapping me behind my head.

"Well then, you better get going or you'll be late." he said with a sigh of contentment as he sat back down to drink his tea.

"Yeah!" I said after realizing how late it is now.

Grabbing my bag and hover board I yell "See ya! Oh tell lady jade I said bye!"

He threw me back a warm smile and a nod as I left. "Your parents would be so proud of how much you've grown."

-------------------------------Third person's P.O.V--------------------------

Ryoshin glided along the side walk that was made specifically for hoverboards. The world had changed and advanced so much from what it use to be. It was a semi-mecha world. Tubes were used for short transportation, hover boards had their own glide-walk and so did the people who prefer walking. Cars no longer needed wheels but they glided too. The roads made loops in the sky and the town was floating.

He was thinking about some memories of his past, somethings just seemed out of place. Suddenly he heard a familiar voice.

"Hey~! Ryoshin! Good morning"

"Uh?" he looks over and sees blaze outside her house waving profusely. "Hey blaze! Come on lets go!"

"Wait up!" she calls as he's not stopping causing her to stumble down the steps.

He spins around a light pole nearby so she can catch up.

"Did you call Aoi?" she asked

"Shit I forgot! I had practice this morning and the stupid old guy almost killed me." he tapped the nuro connector on his right upper arm which brought up a transparent screen only he could see. "Call Aoi!"

Blaze laughs at him being grumpy about master Rin "that's why you need to get stronger, what are these noodle arms going to do?" She teases poking at his arm.

Before he could reply Aoi answers "Hey sleeping beauty we're passing by now. Get out here already!" Ryōshin hung up after that.

Aoi sprinted out the door two houses from them as his moms yelling at the doorway for him always eating on the run. "We're late so let go hyper speed." They change gears by tapping the nose of the board and the foot pad lights up, it allows them to increase the speed with the amount of pressure place on it then hitting the nose again turns off the foot pad.

They decide to race each other to school, blaze arrives first just as announcements start. For security purposes they got scanned and signed in via blood sample, a prick to the finger was good enough and their DNA was analyzed.

"Yes we made it! You guys are slow as always, well see you guys at lunch" she runs off to catch spirit training class.

In this era even the schools evolved. They had to match the beings who took over Evablu to an extent.

"Yeah!" replied ryoshin, "ok blaze!" yelled aoi

The two headed to their class aka sanction level 4, a higher grade than blaze. The school had one purpose only, providing that the students and family would live under the grace of the Bulwatians you'd become a faithful servant. Selected nobles taught at the school and the privilege was rather hard to resist. Some accepted freely others were forced however the situation was still a win win for both sides. After you graduated depending on your skill level you'd be place to work for the empire/nobles or to fight in their army conquering further land.

Those who didn't develop a skill ... well they served in helping the others train.

Aoi and Ryōshin continued walking and taking as they neared sanction room.

"Aoi I brought the paint capsule you asked for!" shouted Damani

"Yo Damani! Thanks! Hey Ryōshin! See you at lunch OK!"

"Yeah..." ryoshin slowly walks to his class, after Aoi's class.

They were at least 4 different sanctions room so Aoi and Ryōshin weren't in the same classes at all.

For the morning secession they reviewed Bulwatian history and learn of the 12 agbara orisons. A technique only known to bulwatians but humans are also being tested, more to say their being forced to evolve.

---------------------------------

The days Lunch was being announced as students left their classes for lunch break. Aoi, blaze and Ryōshin met up. After getting their meals they headed to the roof top to relax on the long cushioned benches overlooking the city.

"haaaa haaaa" blaze burst out laughing. "Now you're just lying!"

"No I'm serious." Said aoi

Ryōshin flops back on the bench gazing into the sky thinking about the memories that keep flashing in his mind. His father's voice telling him something important.

"Ryōshin... Ryōshin..." blaze called softly as she hung her face over his.

He was so startled he fell off the bench hitting his head. "Ow oww. What we're you doing so close up?!" he yelled franticly while blushing.

"Ohh." She smiled "well you weren't listening to us. So what were you thinking about?"

"Oh no... No... It was the clouds! Yeah. Cloud gazing again" he replied.

"The clouds?!" Aoi and blaze looks up only to see a dog shaped cloud, they started laughing.

"You're weird as ever you know!" she said

"Well at least he wasn't lying. Look there's a fish!" said Aoi who could tell ryō was lying but he didn't wanna worry blaze either.

Before they could indulge anymore in their cloud gazing activity announcements began ringing in on everyone's nuro connector informing them that lunch period was over.

It was back to classes and the afternoon sessions were filled with them sparing with each other and a Bulwatian.

------------------------

"Hey are you ready?" asked Aoi as they got ready to go home

"Um... I'm heading to the park. So you guys go home without me." Ryoshin blurted out.

"Oook! Come on blaze lets go." Aoi said excited that he'd be seeing blaze home by himself.

"Have fun OK." Blaze runs happily over and hugs Ryōshin with a smile.

"Ye... yeah" he said as his eyes shone with delight.

Blaze grabs her board gliding along to catch up to aoi who's at the gate. As they left Ryōshin headed to the park, he rubs the spot on his chest where blaze's head was. "Blaze... She hugged me..." he thought feeling all flustered.

"O! I gotta beat 5:00 or the hover park will close." Scratching his head hysterically as he realized he had only half an hour. "Hmm. The shortest route? Which road should I take?" he questioned the two hover sky-drop path across from the school before him. He decided to take the left sky-drop path, the Gideon.

He dropped his board and off he was, no time to waste. The path started with a suction tube taking the rider and board up then down a steep 10 ft. vertical drop and into one of the 5 different designated spiral tubes below you'd then exit into an elite training mine field. Having to traverse the plain without stopping while dodging/defending against whatever obstacles popped up was the usually training most soldiers were subjected to on the Gideon.

He exits the field and glides to a vertical tube within his sights, it was labelled park Neveha. Stepping under it he was sent up to the park floating above, it had a normal course for hover users nothing extreme but Ryōshin enjoyed the team vs. team matches. They got their fair share of wins and beatings from each other. After the match he sat under a tree and opened up a box of juice he bought at the café there.

"Javed my lord" something wet said licking his ear "I'm lonely without you" it said in a winning voice. He suddenly felt a strong grip on his shoulders.

"Uh?! Who..." he said turning to see a half-naked woman smiling devilishly at him.

"Prince Ryoshin Javed!" that face of yours, "Yes more! Show me your fears!"

"YOU!! He sent you didn't he!" He said backing away nervously and afraid.

"We meet again!" she said stroking his hair as he couldn't move out of fright.
