Chereads / The Unwilling Heir / Chapter 107 - Going Home

Chapter 107 - Going Home

This is it. I can't move up anymore. I'm at my age group and I don't think I'll be bothering the royal court any time soon because apparently each time someone joins the royal court it's published somewhere. No thank you.

I was walking home with Osric as my pick up. At the end of the day we'd go on the rooftop and seperate then he'd disappear and pick me up from the front gate.

"Do you like the school so far?"

He thought for a moment before answering.

"It makes you happy so I'm content with it. It also resembles how Regalia works very well."

Regalia is the state in which his family lives in, the states are named by the last name of the owner of the land. He is also a lot nicer these days, he's warming up to me quicker then I first thought. When I first summoned him what are some words to describe... stubborn, demanding, arrogant, unsocial, rude, I think you get the point. It's improved a lot.

"What about other lands?"

He thought about it again.

"I know of the noble lands but not the peasant lands, I'd say they are quite similar though,"

We talked for a while before reaching the house. There wasn't any homework given out, probably because the teachers thought them actually willing to be taught was good enough.

I went upstairs to put my bag in my plain room. I looked at the size and colour scheme in satisfaction. No father to come home and change it all, no one to criticise. Osric's room was the same but the formatting was a bit different. Still, none of us changed our room other then putting our things in the right places.

I went downstairs and Osric was at the cupboard looking for something.

"What do you want for dinner?"

He said to me while looking.

"I'll cook today,"

I said to him.

"What do you want for dinner?"

He asked again ignoring my statement. Ok then.

"Whatever is easier to cook,"

I said. He got out a packet of pasta and then went to the fridge for something else. Then I remembered that we didn't have any pasta sauce. Might as well wait for him to ask me to get some.

Sitting on the sofa i was bored so I got up and put on an apron.

"I'll be your sous chef, "

He looked at me as I pulled the knot tight on my back. He let me come into his space. Yay.

We cooked silently communicating little, the little communication we did was through the mind.

10 minutes later there was two bowls of pasta on the table. We sat down and ate talking about how school went and battle strategies for the future.

"Hey, can we spar afterwards,"

Silence before he spoke.

"Good chance for me to gauge your abilities personally."

He said with a nod.

...

(Osric)

This boy is my heir, I know it. I've seen him fight, I've seen his analytical skills I've seen his leadership skills and I've seen his control. This will be the last test then I will tell him what I want of him, not his soul, that would be a waste. I stood up to put my dish in the sink and then sat down to wait for him to finish. I then got his empty bowl and put it in the sink with mine. Am I spoiling him too much? No, he's going to be a noble. Soon he will have demons at his beck and call as the head of regalia. Now my brothers can't complain about me not having an heir. We went to the backyard of the house and I created a barrier, pulling from Michael's power bank as mine is sealed off in the human world.

We stood facing each other and his face was ice cold as he analysed and predicted. He was serious about this fight. We both knew the rules, physical only, no potentials as he likes to call them.

I stood side on, unguarded, but with my muscles tense up, it was a trap for the opponent. The trap was half fallen for, he stepped and kicked but with caution, he knew I was up to something. I blocked with an arm, matching his speed and momentum. He switched between different combinations, all as deadly as the last. All these movements, they are familiar, but in what way? My brows furrowed slightly as I was blocking his barrage of attacks, one after the other, these are going to leave some bruises later.

He we getting faster as a reaction to my continuous blocking, he has amazing stamina. Good, very good. I was pleased with my chosen heir.

A gap in his attacks as I immobilised his leg for a second. Weak balance is the price for all kicks though do much damage then a fist with a wider attack range and less stamina is consumed.

I sent attacks starting slow but getting faster, seeing how much he could take. When it got to the point where half of my attacks were meeting their target I nodded to myself. He's very competent in the physical aspect and could well beat above average demon soldiers.

I noticed with his movements that he saw what I was going to do but his physical body couldn't catch up. His mind is extraordinary, I'd better keep him away from the Wangliang.

When I thought it was enough I grabbed then pinned him on his knees with his arms behind his back.

"Damn it, you were toying with me,"

He said as he looked at me with annoyance.

"It's your fault for being weak,"

Like they say, motivation comes in the form of realisation. Even if it's fake.

He was grumbling at his utter defeat as we went back inside.

"Where did you learn to fight?"

I asked him, remembering the familiarity of the sets he threw at me.

"At my master's dojo."

What?

"What's a dojo?"

I asked.

"A training place for the martial arts,"

He said with a sour expression. He sulks hard. What a baby.

"I'm not a baby! I'm almost an adult!"

Whoops. Too loud, accidentally said it through the mind link. Now the next problem is how to take him back to Regalia.
