Chapter 106 - A Week of Hard Work

It's been a week since the start of school and I've got to say, it was worth it. Scurra is probably the best experience of school I've had in my life. Every day is new and refreshing, I know that yesterday today and tomorrow are all different days. It's surprising and sometimes exhilarating. I was sitting on the fence of the rooftop as I looked at the horizon and the school grounds.

I've been going up in rank for the past week and now I'm the year 9's eight of swords. The couple from year seven still haven't gotten together and I sometimes think back and feel like it was such a long time ago. I still sigh at Kyra's obliviousness, well I guess I should call her the 7's ace of cups now since she took my spot.

That girl with the curly black hair was furious when I left their class for the class of wands but she still waved goodbye. That was a fun time I had. Year 9 was in the inter section. It was weird but that's what they called it. It was junior, inter, senior.

I was on the top of the building and this one too had a shelter just like the other buildings. There was no one here to claim the shelter, just like the other buildings.

I was almost at my age groups thought I think I deserve a rest. I've been going non stop this week. I actually just got my new position yesterday.

I've been ranking up faster then I first anticipated, maybe a bit too fast because I might have built up a bit of a reputation. I don't know my name, yet to find out that. I just know about the reputation.

The bell rung its three and I hopped off the railing to go into class for middle period. The education period.

I swear every teacher in this school is related. They all look the same! Middle aged men that are going bald and all need jackets.

I sat in class going to sleep as I needed to conserve energy for the next fight. I was the only one doing it and by doing so it was an act against the head. Then again they can't complain because I'm topping all the exams and it's not like the teacher ever complained.

Going out for lunch I went scouting for a senior so that I could hurry up and move up to where I'm suppose to be. Year 10.

"Bro, what's your status?"

I went up to a random guy and asked. His eyebrows lifted.

"So your the ace of the golden eye everyone's been talking about,"

He seemed like an ok guy and now I know my name. Ace of the Golden Eye.

"I'm the 10's page of pentacles. "

He said.

"Good enough for ya?"

He was year ten, even a page, but why did he have to be in pentacles. That's the lowest class. I was hoping for swords or higher.

"Do you happen to know where the court for the cups are? Or wands? "

I asked him, he was a nice guy so why not just ask him some things.

"Aiming high are you golden eye? Even got a scar to show for it. Alright, the wands are in that building on the third floor fifth corridor, look for the open door. The cups are on the first floor last corridor next to the toilets."

He said. I thanked him and waved goodbye.

Why not complete your goal with flying colours. That's right, I'm as arrogant as to just straight up challenge the 10's ace of wands.

I walked along the corridor I reached the fifth corridor, I looked along and there was only one door open, just like the page of pentacles said, I smiled and walked on quicker.

I pushed the door open and made a slam on the wall.

"I'm here to challenge your ace."

A big entrance is a good entrance. The room was a complete mess I've got to say, the tables were all in a balance pile and the chairs were all at the bottom or balancing the pile.

The whole pile spread across the room and the one at the apex is either the king or the ace.

"Kyle, looks like golden eye has come for you next. "

A young man said to Kyle who was sat at the top. I guess I know where my ace is now.

A smirk appeared on his face and he hopped down from his spot at the top.

"I've been thinking about our fight gold eye and I've got to say I'm getting excited. "

I see. People at this stage have accepted where they are because you can't go to any class above your age unless you plan to challenge the royal court. But the majority are in year 12 so no one would like to challenge them.

This Joker definitely knows how to lead.

The Ace of wands stalked me like a cat would do to its prey, a look of hunger in his eyes shone like a bonfire at night. He was smiling and that in turn made me smile.

Suddenly he pounced. I dodged to the side in a quick slide then he landed in a crouched position before his body reached my range then spun on his feet quick and pounced again. I dodged then he landed and this time repositioned himself in a split second and set a roundhouse my way. I blocked with a wrist not having enough time to grab his leg. Then he pounced again but this time with a fury of punches. I blocked a few but then dropped and sent a sweep at his legs. He lost his footing but then dropped to his advantage to do something. I noticed and jumped. I then landed on his hands but he withdrew and we both stood up.

This guy can beat up martial artists!

He sent a punch at my face which I dodge but then he launched himself behind and shot his hand out for my neck.

I went down even further and then grabbed his hand then threw his over my shoulder.

While doing that he grabbed my wrist and as soon as he landed he yanked. I stepped on his shoulder to steady myself and he let out a shout of pain.

Quickly we both recovered.

'What do you think?'

I asked Osric who I could tell watched the fight with interest.

'He's good, but why don't you just go all out on him and end this?'

'I'm not using my potentials'

'No not that, I'm inside of you, I know that your holding back.'

'Heh, oh course you'd notice that,'

I did as he asked. I mean come on guys. Multiple years training at the best dojo and I can't beat a high school delinquent. That would just disappoint the old man.

He then pounced as he used my silence as recovery time. My muscles tensed and everything seemed to go in slow motion.

He landed in front of me and prepare to send another flurry of punches.

I ducked and sent my two hands around to strike the two squishy weak spots at the waist. Then I stepped two and pivoted to strike at his back which he then arched his back.

I grabbed his neck and slammed him on the floor.

I got up and watched for the recovery.

"Ok, you win. "

Kyle said as he got up and sat down cross legged, rubbing the back of his neck then chin.

"Welcome to the court house for the 10's ace of wands."

He stood up and shook hands with me. He accept the lose like he expected it. I wonder why?
