We entered a room another room along this corridor, I'm starting to feel like this house is another space defying house. Wait, I was in the same room with him so why can't I just ask now that I'm in his side.
"Is my sense of spacial awareness messed up or are you messing with me?"
I asked him in a friendly manner, don't want him to put his guard back up on me.
"So you have noticed,"
He didn't say anything else.
"An answer would be appreciated,"
He looked at me and smiled at my stubbornness.
"It's because of the demons, their guards of the king's door, they have some tricks up their sleeves."
While I was asking him these questions he was at one of the shelves in the room, rummaging for a certain book out of the many that were stacked on their.
"I knew I should of put them in chronological order,"
He muttered to himself. I stood at the entrance of the room watching him on the ladder, searching.
"Found it."
He said as he stood up on the rung. He came down hastily while then walking to the table to get a piece of what looked like chalk and then another book that was also on the table. This one was a lot thinner but the one he got from the shelf was be as thick as the length of my thumb.
"I'm ready, let's go,"
He said, he was really enthusiastic about this wasn't he. Still the same, when excited his maturity level plummets and he starts acting like a kid on a birthday.
We went outside to meet a cloudy day and as the sun peaked through the clouds to see what we were doing I shut the door to the house. We were in the backyard of the house and thankfully no one could see us.
"Depending on the amount of spiritual power you have, the rank of demon you summon will reflect on that. "
I nodded subconsciously not really taking in what he meant as I was just looking at him doing his work.
With the two books he returned from the library he laid them both out on the side and open to a specific page. Then with with the chalk he started drawing.
"Master, you really are confident in your skills, summoning a demon with a free hand drawn summoning circle,"
This came from Lucius who stood at the doorway with Alister behind him.
"You Palisade brother better go inside or your going to find your guts all over the floor."
Me brother said while drawing, the tone of his voice did not match the sentence at all.
A few minute later he stood up and there on the ground was a circle filled with more circles and quite a lot of intricate detailing.
"Ok, I'll instruct you as you do it, remember it's important that you listen to me and do exactly as I tell you,"
He told me strictly with a serious face.
I nodded at his words. Not exactly giving me much of a choice in the matter but oh well.
"Pick up the thick book and make sure you hold it at the page it's at,"
"Good, now stand in front of the circle with about half a metre gap between you and it. "
Stepping back I kept looking at him waiting for the next instruction.
"Read out the paragraph of gibberish on the top of the left page. Read it out loud as if it were Latin,"
Since we learnt Latin in school I knew what he meant, but since when did he learn Latin?
"Puligren yuli he juaked tuse gere burawaq ilo tok joileg ed tinigant. Juiki lert mercijk uispetual reget took moket tess lenker. "
I read it out as a bunch of gibberish and the paragraph was only 2 lines so a fairly short thing to read.
"Take a large step back and pour your energy into the circle via visualisation, "
In my head I was imagining strings of tightly wound energy and I would just transfer it outside of the body.
"Stay until you have emptied your supply,"
He said as he then sat down cross legged, maybe expected it too take a long while.
(5 minutes later)
I've been trying to quicken the pace at which the energy flows at but it didn't work, if anything I think it was more inefficient and painful. It was an endurance test to see how much energy I had.
(10 minutes later)
Now I was feeling a bit nauseous and it was hard to keep a constant stream, I could feel my energy storage going down.
(5 minutes later)
Now I could feel my self getting lower and lower but I couldn't seem to stand up and properly, it was like my body was giving up.
(3 minutes later)
I was on the floor panting like crazy and felt all the energy depleted from me, I didn't know that the spiritual energy would affect my physical body. Beads of sweat were running down my forehead and a layer of heat covered my body.
"You good?"
Elijah said as he reached out a hand to me.
"It's tiring, I know the feeling,"
He said with a sympathetic smile. I just nodded because I was finding it hard to use my voice as my parched throat was taking its toll.
"Come on, one last step, you can do it,"
He said as he went to the group of things he brought with him. There were a lot more things there then last time so he might of left and come back when I wasn't watching. He then suddenly paused and came back over empty handed.
"Oops, forgot I didn't have it."
He chuckled as he scratched the back of his head.
"Alister, "
He said in a normal speaking voice. Then I saw the spindly man walk out of the courtyard door to where we were. Bowing to Elijah he looked up and said.
"What do you need master,"
He seemed tired while saying that, bored.
"He knows, you don't need to waste time by doing that, I need to use Hidrith,"
Who was hidrith? It seems like a weird name and the way he said it, wasn't it a name? The thing was, Alister took out the knife that he tried to kill me with and Elijah accepted it. Apparently they give knives names as well.
"This is Hidrith, he's a demon knife and the knife that your going to use to complete the summoning. "
I looked at the what was thought to be simple knife. I didn't have a good look at it at first because it was trying to kill me. The dark brown, almost chocolate coloured handle was shaped in a curve that looked fancy but comfy and the patterns engraved looked to complicated to do by hand, if I wasn't told it was a demon blade I'd of thought it was done by a laser. The blade itself also had some engravings, and it didn't stop at that, there were bits of sharp edged curving out, it made the knife like a beautiful artwork but at the same time, deadly. I picked up the knife and it fit right in my hand, as if it was made for my hand. I turned to the circle which was glowing a dark purple and the circles inside it were spinning against each other.
"Cut, then drip three,"
Elijah said. I held the knife at my palm and slashed it gentle with one of the curved bits of blade that came out. My reflection showed me how calm I looked during this process and to be honest it scared me a little.
I could feel the blood collecting on my palm as the vermillion drops dripped down.

And the circle stopped spinning.
