Chereads / The Unwilling Heir / Chapter 94 - Coming to an Agreement

Chapter 94 - Coming to an Agreement

I looked back at my brother with furrowed brows. Did I do something wrong? Why did it stop? He just gave me a smirk. I looked back at the circle and the glow was slowly coming back.

"This is it brother,"

Elijah told me as he went inside.

"No wait, where are you going?!"

I was worried because I've never met one of these things before, how was I suppose to know what to do when a demon is standing in front of me!

"I'm going to to let you and your new friend get to know each other,"

He said and with a final wave, the door to the courtyard was closed and I was alone in front of a glowing circle. Not good, I'm not meeting a new friend I'm meeting a new species! Why did I agree to this?

A figure started to materialise in the circle as the glow got so bright that I had to change eyes. My red eyes stared into the light to see what was happening. The outline of a tall man with a long trench coat on and a hat was visible. After the glow resided I could see his features clearly. With his black hair, darker then ink out of his face and neatly trimmed at the back. His black trench coat was billowing and flying around him making his arrogant air shine through. With his hands in the pockets of the trench coat you could see the black undershirt and his black jeans. With a black hat to top everything off. His blue eyes were light, almost grey, and stood out in his black attire, his skin was pale, like how my skin is when my potentials are active. His indifferent but confused look felt almost unnatural for his face which had a shaven beard around his mouth and around to his ears. His face was very angular and it was like you could see all the bones in his face.

He looked around, then at me. His jaw tightened and his eyes narrowed.

"What am I doing here?"

He said in a low baritone voice. He continued to look at his surroundings taking everything in.

"So you can make a deal with me,"

I said back in the same serious tone. While looking at his eyes which weren't focused on me. I knew that he knew I was looking at me because he then looked me back.

"Send me back this instant I have important matters to attend to,"

He said as he resumed his neutral stance and looked at me expectantly with cold eyes.

"What if I say you don't have a choice in the matter?"

He glared at me.

"What if I say that you don't have a choice in my matter?"

His voice was more menacing as he replied to my hidden threat.

"Then I'd say you can go back once you've eaten my soul,"

His eyebrows lifted as if he was telling me, are you serious? A moment of silence between the both of us as he was assessing me.

"Your serious aren't you?"

"Very,"

The man let out a sigh.

"Alright, what's the deal?"

I smiled at him but he seemed to think it was a bit childish.

"Tsk,"

He then turned his head away, loosing interest I announced my deal to him in hopes of getting his approval.

"If you help me rebuilt this world my way then I will let you eat my soul and return you home,"

I said, it was a deal that came straight out of the inner most parts of my heart and brain and I felt like a weight was lifted off my. I heard chuckling, then it turned into full blown laughter.

"You want to rebuild this world? "

"Yes,"

I told him seriously.

"That's too ambitious, your aiming too high little man, maybe do that when your older. Now send me back,"

I glared at him for thinking my proposal was stupid and not thought through, for your information demon I've thought this through a thousand times over.

"I've thought this through a thousand times, let me explain my plan after just accept the terms. You can't go back, there isn't a choice,"

I told him with a forceful tone.

"Kid, a world, any world, isn't the least bit simple. They are complex chains and groups of people who are connected in all ways imaginable and unimaginable. A confusing line drawing that goes all over the place yet has order. It's too difficult for a kid like you to understand, let alone change."

He gave me a short lecture, it was an insightful one, and one that I really regret not paying the utmost attention to.

"I know, that's why I want to improve it, but by bit,"

The man shook his head and looked at me.

"Look, kid, your taking this too lightly,"

He tried to reason with me but my mind was set, and being the stubborn person I am I never did listen properly.

"Just help me, please."

"Send me back,"

He said again. What was so urgent? Or did he just not like it here.

"There's something I want to ask you first, why can't you transport yourself back, and why didn't you kill me? Don't you have some sort of ability?"

Ha looked annoyed at my questioning and did a slight sneer, even then I still persisted.

"I can't use any magic in the human world without residential permission, meaning a contract which is what your proposing. "

If he's a demon and lived in a different world all his life. Then how does he know this is the human world?

"How did you know this was the human world

I asked him.

"I've been here before, I'm not giving you anything else,"

I just nodded.

"Just agree to the terms."

He let out another sigh and look away.

"You still don't get it do you? I'm not going to because it's not worth it. Send me back."

His last sentence was said looking me straight in the eye, warning that I I'd better obey.

"No, just accept, if I do fail then I'll let you do what ever you want with earth. "

His lips tightened slightly and he was in thought. Hook.

"No, I don't have any business with this realm."

He said as he made up his mind.

"You get to eat me and have the ability to travel between worlds. Come on, it's a good deal"

I said with a voice that persuaded agreement.

"Trial period,"

I then said to the silence that answered my last question.

"What's that?"

I blinked a few times at him, how does he not know what a trial period was?! Then I remembered he was from another world so then I was good. Judging by the clothing he wore his world must still be pretty advanced, they resembled clothing of this world but still different.

"It's a period where you try things out, if it doesn't work your can back out."

He thought about it. Line

"Fine,"

And Sinker
