Chapter 67 - Examination Day

Half the year has past already and all my mental planning has yet to pay itself. I'm hoping it will but it can only go into action once all of this is done. The thing is that there will only be a very short time frame before Elijah orders for my execution so that I'm not a hindrance.

Today apparently we have a half yearly exam? I was never told about this! Each teacher will pick the type of exam and how they want to do it during the time that they have. I think I already know.

As explained by Althgar yesterday, the whole of today will be put aside for exams, so no class but some breaks. I woke up earlier then the timer that Anastasia set for us daily because of the stress of image. We didn't have any assessments, just homework and class work. No big things no anything so this is the first test we are doing. Also Althgar mentioned yesterday that our marks are combined with the marking of our homework and performance. So if we get a perfect score in the test but didn't do well in class then we'd only get have our marks. Since we are doing our tests with everyone else, potential included, all the practical tests will be done in front of the others. I don't know why I'm suddenly caring about my personal image or worrying. It doesn't make sense.

The alarm sounded, clear and sudden in the surrounding air of quite and one by one, people started to get up from their sleep.

I got up with the rest and prepared for the exam day with everyone else.

"What's an exam like?"

"Is it like one of those tests that are suppose to test our abilities?"

The tigers came up to me and asked. Then I remembered that only me and Dominic actually did schooling at a school. The rest of these people were all homeschooled and only did tests so that their parents could see that they were actually studying.

"Yeah it's basically that,"

I told them. It's better they don't know the stress behind doing testing in a group. Everyone is always competitive and the person with the lowest score is also known as dumb. The person with the highest score has bragging rights unless they are known as the nerd. That explanation only scratches the surface of all the social stress. I've never had that though, so why today?

We made our way to the castle with 10 minutes until start with the shadow guards on our tail.

Everyone else was talking as if this was a normal day but I was stressed as hell. Walking along the grass, my heart was pounding and everything in my body was just saying no. I wanted to turn back and just skip today and attend the normal school day tomorrow.

The shadow guards showed themselves and said nothing, one of them handed us a sheet then they just went back to their lookouts again. It was like this castle was just designed so that these people could tail us while also in hidings. All the crevices they hide in we're human sized but only just, you'd need to be very skilled to jump from one to another without falling missing or not crouching in time. It all comes down to precision and that's what they had. The only question is, who are they?

We looked at the sheet and all it had were our classes handwritten in fancy calligraphy.

History of the world

Combat

Break

Potential

Break

Manipulation

That was the order they were written in. This was probably the order of the exams that we'd be taking and I'd bet the first one would be a written exam.

I looked at the exam set up desks with pieces of paper and pencils laying there ready for us. I was right, unfortunately but at the same time fortunately. This was because for written we couldn't see what everyone else was writing so there would be nothing to worry about until the results. Ms Hu then stood up from her seat at the teachers table and began her speech.

"Welcome to your first exam my students, remember, if you did well under my guidance then this test should be a piece of cake. Do not embarrass me."

Wow that was a starter. You must of been acknowledged a lot to have this much confidence in your teaching.

"Sit at a desk, the rules are standard and simple.

You are not allowed to talk, whisper or make a sound. Do not look at another's words and do not attempt to cheat. There is no physical answer sheet so don't bother searching for one. You know how skilled the shadow guards are so if they catch you cheating you get a zero. Last but not least, when time is up, all pencils go down and you aren't allowed to write. "

By this time we are already seated at our desks, we were seated in alphabetical order and the tests had our names already written on there. We were all listening and half not listening after she said the words standard rules. As if we'd cheat! We don't need shadow guards to watch, if we do attempt to cheat everyone else in the room will notice and call that person out on it because we are all competitive rich brats who like to be the best at everything.

"You can start,"

And with that, all heads were immediately down and pens started to scratch the paper. That was the only sound heard as we all started to do this test which she claims to be a piece of cake.
