A month has past but nothings really changed other then all of us having extreme exhaustion and homework suffercation. Now that I'm thinking back that pile of essays we had to do about the ear was nothing compared to a whole 150 paged book on the circulation of spirit blood. But I do admit I've learnt a lot. The last lesson of the day, potential with Althgar is always done separately. Everyone has a private scheduled lesson either before class, in break or after class. I have mine everyday after class at 5pm so there is a bit of waiting time which is what I'm doing now but it's also a good time just to relax and not do anything.
With the newly installed fancy clock on the wall we really have no excuse to be late. Trust me I've tried, he's just thrown back every excuse I've tried and deemed it unimportant.
The clock told 5 minutes till 5 so I started to get up from my laid down position and made my way to the castle. I could sense the shadow guards at my back now so it's not as creepy and my use of the eyes now grants me the speed to actually see them appear. So while I walk to the throne room I'll explain each of my potentials since we have some time.
My eyes are as you all know red, I still don't know why but I do know what they do and I can do it to a decent extent. They help me see the magic of the world. Sounds cringey I know but it's the best way to explain it. Magic is how I define it because it has no logic behind it. Sure it has a rule but logic of this world is none existent hence magic. This is why no one asked about fox's wings, because I was the only one who could see them. I was also the only one who could see the collection of air around the areas which have an awakened potential. My eyes are also sharper then those of a human, I can track faster things and my vision is as clear as crystal. That's about it for the eyes, next I'll explain the hair. The red tipped white hair and the pale skin, that's apparently what my myth looks like, it's white and has red. Together they grant me two things, the first one is the creature's instinct. The instinct that I was given from a lucky pick in the gene pool is a dulled version of the original, obviously. It's still pretty powerful. It helps me fight, it helps my senses heighten to another level and it just helps me survive. The second thing that it grants me is Ethereal. Ethereal is a magic potential that lets you be scarce and ghost like I guess. It would be a major advantage in assassinations and spying also in fights if combined with speed it's lethal. That's what Althgar did on the day of the first spar.
A white light shone from inside the room and it leaked through the gaps of the doors. Even with the interference of the door it was still blinding to the eye but I kept my eyes open and normal as my red eyes came into play.
"Ok then,"
I muttered under my breath after pausing a bit at the sudden light. I opened the familiar black and gold doors to see the face of my teacher, Althgar Daemon. He made eye contact with me before his attention went back to Eleanor.
"My little Cherubim Angel, you have progressed so much, keep up the good work and you might even best your great grandma."
He dismissed her and Eleanor smiled at me briefly before going through the opened doors of the throne room. I went the opposite way and walked towards Althgar while the shadow guards closed the doors and stood there with guards up.
"How has practice been?"
He said while he got the things out for training.
"Fine,"
Was my simple answer, too much information is boring and bad for both sides, short answers are better in a passing question.
"Good, then let's start with a spar,"
He got into a defensive position about 3 metres away from me. This surprised me a bit. It was the first spar he's done since the potential testing with the seeker. Well now at least I get to prove myself. Who knows maybe I'll get an early graduation ceremony.
I leapt and at the same time my ethereal hid me from view but that wasn't enough for Althgar, his eyes were glowing but they weren't red, he tracked me down and throw a few blows at me. I managed to dodge then when my passive abilities, instinct kicked in and allowed me to sense. I ran circles around the old man who seemed like he was taking a nap. He closed his eyes and was breathing evenly as if he was breathing in the morning air. I gritted my teeth at the obvious provocation but continued to run. My arms by my side as they felt the passing wind. I straightened my fingers and put them together then the sensation of cracking knuckles was on my hands. Without looking I knew that my harmless nails were now deadly claws.
My first attempt at a slash was at the back but he seemed to just shift forward at inhuman speeds. I pursued my lips at the fail concluded that it wouldn't work on him. I stopped behind him and ran straight towards him slightly panting. When I got in range I slashed at his back but he turned and grabbed my wrist so I took advantage of that and pulled him forward with the momentum of the grab. When I was behind him I shook his hand off as it loosened from the sudden pull and the stood on my toes. I quickly wrapped my right hand around his upper body and positioned it over the heart and with my other one I held the claws at the neck.
"Do I win?"
