Chapter 64 - The Potential Lesson

Seems like I surpass my own expectations. A month ago I got bashed but now i have a claw at his neck and a claw at his heart sporting a big grin on my face.

"You do,"

He said in a calm voice, I let him go but as soon as my arms were out of reach of his vital points he ran around with his robe in his wake and had me in his previous predicament.

"Not,"

He smiled but let me go.

That deceiving bastard of a teacher. I narrowed my eyes and threw a claw at his but he blocked it with his own.

He then walked to the edge of the throne room and there was an invisible door and a hidden room where all the equipment is kept. As he went to pull the doors I walked over to help him, a shadow guard swooped in to help as well.

With our combined strength we got what he wanted out of the store room. I was surprised to see that it was one of the old tools that we used during the first half of the last month when I learnt to summon my claws.

It was the trunk of an ancient oak that fell because of its age. According to Althgar it was the oldest one in the forest until it's spirit overpowered its physical body. At this point I think I'll believe anything. Even if he did tell me there is a spiritual forest surrounding the castle. It was about 2 metres in height and 1 metre in length. It was taller then me but my hands can reach above my head.

When we used this it was usually just hitting the wood so that dents would come out to improve my endurance of the claws. That's why there are wood bits all over and holes in the strong trunk.

"This time we will be using this for some martial art skills. Let's do set A D and C in that order in a loop with your claws instead of fists, enhancement 3 in your feet, instinct in conscious, and holding ethereal the entire time,"

I stared at him, well I guess this is the next level of our training. Just a bunch of simple steps put together into a big complex jumble. Yay...

"What are the sets?"

How can he expect me to do sets that he hasn't taught me yet?

"The ones you learnt from Raphael,"

He knows Rall? Then again it is a legendary art studio but what would he have to do with Mr King over here? Unless this guy has been orchestrating our lives to an extent. Considering he has the power of all three noble names in his hands to play with at a whim it's not completely out.

"Ok,"

I didn't ask, I didn't think I needed to because he wasn't going to answer anyways. Then again my grandpa once said, while reading his daily newspaper at the couch pretending like he never owned the biggest military business in the world, 'the smartest ones are the ones who ask question.' I shook my head slightly, not the time to think about that, focus on the present and leave the past behind but never forget.

I was sweating and panting, my energy quickly depleting by the 10th loop. I surprised myself, my spiritual control is better then I anticipated. As I finished my tenth set my instinct suddenly kicked my in the gut, literally, I bent down a lot at the sudden pain and on the top of my head I could feel the rock above my head just flying in a straight line and brushing my red tips. Boom! The rock hit the wall but it never fell to the floor because it created a hole with cracks surrounding it and it stayed nested there. I stared at the rock because my eyes widened and I looked at Althgar slightly alarmed.

"I told you to keep your instinct in conscience,"

I could've died old man!

"I believed in your strong instinct potential."

"And not in me?"

"Of course not,"

I let out a huff and continued my loops, when do I stop? He kept throwing rocks at me which all left holes in the wall. By the end of the third loop the trunk could take any more and fell. On an average human being proportionally it split at the stomach area and neck area. The trunk spotted deep claw marks as if made by an animal but to tell the truth I don't think a normal animal could make a mark in this thing, the magic on it was strong, stronger then last time I trained on it.

"That's enough, I believe Raphael has taught you to the point of completion. Few more sessions like this individually and you'll be fine in that area. You can come in on weekends to complete your new 2 hour per week in martial arts. Practice on the trunk like we did today, the door will unlock for you. Next, this we will do is potential control,"

Oh, god help me, when he said control I'm pretty sure he should be saying endurance, control practice is tiring to the point of fainting, which, I'll have you know I've done before.

"Carve out this shape on the bigger half of the trunk."

He gave a a picture of a milk jug, now he expects me to carve it out using my nails which barely managed to break the wood? There's only one way to do this I guess. Sigh I'm probably going to faint this time. I took the bigger half of the trunk and placed it vertically on the ground, I then sat down and took out my claws which I then enhanced with enhancement 5 which is the maximum I can do right now. I started to chip and carve away at the wood. I was feeling a bit woozy half way but I pushed on, I was determined to finished this but as time went on I was forming sweat beads and pain was hitting me in waves over and over again. As I got to the polishing stage I felt numb, my consciousness was starting to disappear. The lip was so close, there was just this little bit left. I let out a big breath as my body fell on its own from exhaustion and I passed out but just before that, on the floor out of sheer will power I opened my eyes which left like they weighted 10 tonnes. A cracked of light shower and I saw Althgar with a smile as he inspected my work. I got his approval for control work, finally. I smiled then dozed off into unconsciousness. That was how the lesson ended.
