Chapter 50 - The First Guest

We've all excepted it and came to a joined conclusion. What he said was true and with these new lenses we will control ourselves before attempting to fix some issues we have also discussed. Enough of my personal thoughts for now. The playful banter was over and the aura turned hard. The cold wind that blew across our faces indicated the start of dark and the castle in front of us is where an organised storm lay. Ready to tear you to shreds at the first sign of weakness.

So this is what they call the calm before the storm. I guess the excessive laughter was just a bodily function to make up for the exhaustion of keeping my guard up during the ball.

My white blond hair was nearly brush back for the first time but with no trace of gel, I've always hated that stuff, it makes you feel like your so... fake?

Not sure how to put it but that's the closest word I could find. We walked in through the front gates of the castle, no cars in sight and it looked quite ordinary to be honest. The atmosphere didn't say a ball was going to be held here. It said it's a normal night outside an old castle.

Went inside and upstairs via the left set, we were then lead straight for about 5 metre before turning left, then we went straight for about 10metres before heading down a set of marble stairs which lead to a giant lobby you could call it. It was just a room with seats and looked a lot more modern then the front of the castle. Then turning right we arrived at a big set of doors. They were tinted and were made out of glass, though not as big as the door up from it was still about 2 and a half metres high and 1 metre wide. Embellished with fang handles and wood carvings along the frame it was designed in a very modern style. Mr Hu took our keys from his pocket and opened the door, it revealed a stereotypical ballroom. A giant chandelier in the centre with smaller ones surround it in a tasteful manner. With a simple click coming from Mr Hu flicking the light switch the room was illuminated in a warm yellow light. The ballroom floor was marble with a red carpet about 2 metres wide which lead to the other end of the hall where their was another door, at the centre of the ballroom the red carpet leads to a big circle about the size of the chandelier hanging above it before continuing its party as the red carpet. The room itself was an oval shape and grand pillars on the edges of the room with two sets of stairs on the side that lead to a gallery.

"Now, you 5 are going to greet the guests that are going to come since this will be the first ball you will host as a group. As well as greeting the guests you will also be required to make a speech when you desire. Now this applies or each one of you. The first guests will be arriving in approximately 10 minutes,"

And with that, he left us to our own accords. Ugh troublesome. Hosting a ball takes too much energy. It's a rule that the host has to greet everyone of his guests, make and speech, remain nice the entire time, see each one of the guests out personally and congratulate new marriages, engagements, upcoming birthdays, pregnancy ect. It's a huge waste of time. I went upstairs as I didn't have anything better to do. I looked out the window that was positioned there as I reached the top of the staircase. Huh, it's a full moon tonight. I wonder, if we exist, do werewolves exist too?

"Little colt, they do exist, but they have become nothing but a dog through breeding with humanity. Now the dormant werewolf spirit has degraded to a dormant dog spirit. "

Althgar stood behind me and out a hand on my shoulder as he answered my inner question. I looked back at him as he stared at the moon as I was doing a minute ago.

"Isn't the moon bright tonight?"

He asked in a nostalgic voice, it was a strange manner of tone but natural at the same time.

"Yes, and the stars shine at their fullest with no other source of light blocking its path."

"Life is short, live it with yourself, do not be a star in the city but in the lost forest, where all things wild and free roam."

My eyes widened at that statement. I've seen it somewhere, or heard it. Before I could question his choice of words and timing he spoke first.

"The first guests will be arriving soon, you better get going."

He looked down at me and lifted his hand off my shoulder as he said that. I headed to the staircase to go back down but I looked back. I saw his inhumanly white flowing hair, i swear, it sparkled in the moonlight but that was all I saw as he disappeared behind the corner.

I headed down the stairs.

"Back already from admiring the stars?"

Dominic said, he seemed bored enough to be able to talk to me. But he didn't make eye contact as he spoke. So I went back to my position and answered him in the same manner.

"Yep,"

The first guests arrived with an air of arrogant gusto, a young man in first with the two parents at the back. He walked in with his head head high and his parents behind him, looking at him as though he were a precious child. First impression, spoilt heir with doting parents. Whoever he is I don't want to be aquatinted with him anytime soon. The most worrying this is that I recognise him from somewhere.

"What a lovely night for a ball I have to say, greetings, I am Christopher Zane Moless, heir of the Moless family, it tis a pleasure to be personally greeted by the noble heirs themselves,"
