"Liz, are you crying?"
"No."
"Then, why are your cheeks wet? You know that you are a bad liar when it comes to us. What happened?"
"Nothing. Just missing my mom. Is there no news yet?
"No." Jose said while lowering his head. His bro, Max came in and said, "Hey, why is it raining? Huh? The weather was perfect in the morning."
Lisa gave a stern look to which Max surrendered, "No more jokes. Ok? Serious...."
"Why have you called both of us? Is there any problem?", Max said seriously.
"Well, brothers, I have recently found out that someone is searching for information regarding my mom and me. There is something fishy. That person is trying to dig information like crazy.", Lisa informed them about the important matters.
"Through our networks, we too, got to know that a person is trying to find more about you and your mom.", Jose said while typing something on his tablet.
"Okay, you two may leave but keep a close eye on this matter."
Sophie leaned back onto her chair and closed her eyes. Nobody knows what she is thinking.
'This can't go on. I need to come back with my original identity but now is not the time yet. I can't risk it now. After all, there are many stakes involved. But why would someone crazily find me? Unless.....'
Sophie switched her attention to the open laptop on her desk. She was shocked at her discovery. 'It's him. I've been searching for him before and now he is trying to find more about me. But why? It is certainly not because I've caught his attention. Then why? And why is he doing this openly. As far as I remember, he has exceptional disguise skills. Then why isn't he hiding his tracks? What is going on through his mind?'
"Aaargh!!! Why is it him again? I've got zero self control in front of him. No. I must hide myself for now. I must not let him find me now. I have to clear all obstacles in my path to reach the pinnacle of the business world, make more money for myself and then only can I take my revenge. I have to wait to cast away the masks of those people. I have to wait till it is the perfect time to make them fall from the perch.", Sophie inwardly cursed.
Knock.. knock.... The knock on the door brought Sophie out of her reverie. She focused on the laptop again and said, "Come in."
"Mam, these are the files that require your signature. There is a weekly review meeting at 12 o' clock, and after that, you have a meeting and lunch with Mr. Saunders at Blue Moon Restaurant. Shall I make arrangements?"
"Uh? Huh, sure.", Sophie replied somewhat absentmindedly.
"Mam, are you okay?" The voice of Susan disturbed her string of thoughts.
"Yup, I'm fine. You may leave now."
"Have a good day Mam."
Sophie stared at the documents in front of her intently but made no move to sign them. She was lost in her own world again. Her gaze drifted to the floor to ceiling window as she was immersed in her thoughts.
Flashback of the thought:
"Soph, get over here now. How dare you put these dirty things on my hair?", the young boy said with mock anger.
"He he, I was dared to do so. It's just a game. Come on, don't be a spoilsport.", the girl giggled and pouted.
"Okay, that's enough of your games there. Come let's have breakfast. Auntie is calling us. Come on Soph, hurry."
"Coming. Such a bore. You are not gonna have a girlfriend if you keep on being boring like this.", the girl replied.
"Oh, I have you Soph. I don't need one.", the boy smirked, and the girl ran away blushing hard.
