Chapter 16 - The Photoshoot

The events of yesterday night were immediately thrown at the back of Ding Jia's mind. As if all that she had seen was an illusion and insignificant in her eyes.

Rather than pondering over what truly happened, Ding Jia does not really have the luxury of time at the moment. After her short closed audition yesterday, she had multiple schedules to attend from that day onwards.

It proved to be that her comatose couldn't make her schedules disappear. Her brief recovery period didn't last long and now all the deferred works exploded in her face continuously.

Her comeback project is surely the film, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have to take other gigs. Ding Jia had to meet with her sponsors, renew the contracts, and scheduled more meetings to discuss future promotions. Interviews were postponed by Lin Lin, commenting that it wasn't ripe yet to give interviews.

She agreed to her suggestion and watched her decline all the magazine interview offers in a blink of an eye. Even the variety shows were put into the Declined Pile to avoid further interaction.

But having the sponsorships schedule alone made her so busy, along with the table script reading and costume fittings.

Mr.Shen Ru--ah, Mr. Luo Yang, didn't appear again and the two of them hadn't interacted after that night. He even declined attendance in the table script reading, showing no interest in whether all of the casts will do well or not during that time.

At this time around, Ding Jia finally met her co-stars for this film and a handful of them were actors and actresses she'd already worked with once and had a positive impression on their performances.

She thought with great interest, it seems Mr.Luo Yang's weight in this film is big ah. The majority of the casts have great up to decent acting skills even those with minor roles.

Looks like she won't have to face too much problems for multiple NGs in the future.

Ding Jia kept her opinions to herself and immediately switched to her work mode. Her acting prowess didn't decrease at all despite being in a coma for months, and she found herself even more excited for the upcoming start of filming.

After the bloody woman incident, Ding Jia didn't experience any more.... strange, is what she would put it.

Weeks passed by fast as usual. Ding Jia was in the middle of her shooting with a clothing brand, along with another actress that she didn't know the name of, her assistant commented that she was a B-line actress.

They are currently in the middle of a desert and since they will need to switch locations more often, the two actresses shared one tent. Ding Jia doesn't really mind sharing a tent with an actress even from before so she was fine with their decision.

She was playing with her mobile phone while her make-up artist was fixing her make-up when she heard the sound of a camera shutter.

Ding Jia paid no heed about it naturally. A lot of the staff usually takes pictures most of the time in their line of work so she ignored it.

"Is this shade enough?" Her make-up artist pointed at her blush. Yu Xia stood behind her and looked at her reflection in the mirror before commenting.

"Maybe a bit—shutter—more brown and orange? The sun will be too bright for the—shutter—lighting so we definitely need heavier—shutter—shade to contrast with the dress."

Ding Jia examined herself in the mirror. "Which dress?—shutter"

"The indigo one."

"Mm, what about—shutter—that off-shoulder type?—shutter—I think that would fit better with the background than the indigo—shutter."

Ding Jia and Yu Xia continued exchanging their suggestions for her whole look. But Ding Jia slowly got annoyed with the continuous camera shutters that didn't seem to cease.

She looked behind her through the reflection on the mirror. She could see the other actress and her team on the other side of the reflection but it seems like no one was using their phones nor taking any pictures at the moment.

Was it the photographer outside?

Her voice subconsciously raised in irritation when she called out her assistant.

"Jie, do you need water?" Xiao Chan showed hee a water bottle with a straw. She shook her head and pushed away from the bottle in her hand and urged her to move closer.

"Is the photographer practicing the shots outside?"

"Eh?" Xiao Chan looked at her in confusion.

"Are they taking some practice photos outside? I keep hearing the camera shutters and it's growing increasingly annoying for the ears." She showed her irritation on her face.

Her assistant stared at her face for a few seconds to make sure that Ding Jia wasn't just rambling something out of the blue. Then Xiao Chan exchanged glances with Yu Xiao and the make-up artist, and both females shrugged their shoulders expressing that they didn't know what she was talking about.

Xiao Chan carefully worded her answer seeing Ding Jia was a bit in a bad mood right now, "....Jie."

"Why?"

"....The staff are still unpacking and setting up outside."

"And?"

".....Not even the photographer is taking any pictures yet because they're still setting it up on the monitor."

"..."

"We didn't hear any camera shutters, ah."

"....." Fudge cakes.

Ding Jia's face froze and through the mirror, she saw how all the staff in her team looked at her with strange looks. She didn't know what's going on in their minds, but she was pretty sure it wasn't something she'll be happy to hear about.

Xiao Chan saw how her boss' facial expression stiffened so subtly(praises for being together with her this long), and immediately started to appease her else she starts the entire shoot with a sour mood.

"Uh,Jie. Maybe someone from the other team is taking the photos ah." She looked over her shoulder and saw that there was none.

Ding Jia and Xiao Chan turned and looked at each other.

"....."

".....Maybe they're done."

....—shutter.

Ding Jia finally realized that something was off.
