I was sitting in my library recording everything in this world. Few years ago I created birds with my blood and spread them all around the world. I really miss the time I was connected with the World tree as that time I could observe over everything. Mana was created by the World Tree and World Tree was created by my blood. Even when mana left the Tree I could still feel it. Even when Mana entered other people's body I still felt it. That's when my perfect memory and analysis abilities shined. As everything in this world was made of mana and it fueled everything. I created a mind map of the whole earth. But after I disconnected with the World tree I couldn't follow up. That's why I created birds. They would travel the world and record everything for me. Wars between mammals or the priceless mana treasures. All of them were recorded in my library.
When I was immersed in writing I felt someone coming towards me. I looked back and saw a teenager with handsome features and long ears walking towards me. He was smiling but I could see he was uneasy. I stood up and brewed a tea using the tea leaves I found around the World Tree. After that I went towards him and asked, "Ethan you came back? How was your adventure?"
Ethan was the oldest elf born from the World Tree and he was also my First disciple. He looked at me and said, "I traveled around the whole continent and saw many different plants!" After that he took out a book and gave it to me, "This is my records and even thought it's not as detailed as yours I hope my notes could help you write your book in the future!"
I took the book and opened the first page. It talked about a magical plant that grows on a volcano. After reading it for few minutes I put it down and asked Ethan, "Why do you look so sad? I know you from the time you were born and I could feel when you're hiding something from me!"
He was quiet for few minutes but then asked, "Who are we to you master? Even thought we may look the same from the time I knew myself I knew we were different. Our only difference is the length of our ears but I could feel that it's more complicated than that. You're very familiar but also quite different from us! Who are we to you master!"
I smiled and said, "That's a stupid question! You're all my children!"
He was happy to hear it but then he became gloomier and said, "During my adventures I met a great ape tribe. It was big and they were quite powerful. When I neared their caves I saw a weird creatures. They had less fur than apes but more fur than us and you. But I could feel that they were far similar to you than all of us combined! You always taught us to search the truth! I want to know the truth who are they and who are we! What is our purpose!"
I smiled again and said, "They are race of humans they evolved from apes and I once was part of that race. Your race is called Elves and you all were born from the World Tree..."
Without letting me finish he asked, "Then why don't you help those humans. I was there and saw how harshly they were treated. Why didn't you save your own race. If someday we too were enslaved would you leave us too? If you left your own race, you wouldn't even think twice before abandoning us?"
I patted him on his head and said, "Yes they're humans but for me they're just strangers. The only family I have is you all. You're my children and I could even kill every human in this world to save just one of you. And don't worry humans are like cockroaches. They may be enslaved or treated harshly. But they will never go extinct. Even if the whole world was destroyed I'm sure one of them will still survive."
Hearing my words he started crying. I smiled and said, "Please don't cry. You're already sixteen years old. What would your brothers think if their older brother cried like a baby!" Even after my teasing he didn't stop crying.
I went back towards my place and started to continue my writing. But for some reason I couldn't continue. I looked at my hands. They were made of flesh and skin. What am I? I looked human but also felt like I was different than before.
All night long I couldn't sleep. And the next morning I didn't even wanted to leave my bed. Ethans words still in my head. Right now I'm saying that I wouldn't leave them but what if I one day did? I may say that I would protect them but am I really sincere in my words?
To achieve my goals I betrayed many people. I killed my brothers and poisoned my friends. I destroyed the life of many innocent people and worked with the most vile people! What if someday I would betray the Elves. I looked at my hands they were clean and looked wonderful yesterday. But today for some reason they looked really dirty and ugly.
