Voicemail: "Hello, this message is for Azell Harris. Ms. Harris we've tried reaching out to you last week and have not recieved any call backs or visits from you. It's been about a month since you spoke with Officer Hill on September sixth. We really need you and Mrs. Norris to come down and make those reports at your earliest convenience. Mrs. Norris's phone doesn't seem to be on so if you could please relate this message back to her. My extension is #302 under Detective Mallory. Thank you."
Azell threw her phone on to the bed. Her cheek had hued into an ugly yellow-green color. But it was looking much better. Her vacation from work starts tomorrow. She never even bothered taking off after the incident. Azell took Nate's advice and used as much make up on her face during the blueish-red stage of bruising. No one really suspected anything which was a relief. Or if they did they didn't care to ask or stare.
Azell thought about Carine. She didn't even get her number and Azell also wondered why Carine's phone wasn't on.
"Perhaps I can find her on social media." said Azell aloud as she opened her laptop.
Going to her Facebook search she typed in 'Carine Norris'. Scrolling past pages but no luck finding her. Azell picked up her laptop and moved to her small desk in the corner of the room and sat down.
"Okay well if that wasn't it then let's go for her maiden name." said Azell to herself
'Carine Jasper' she typed. Immediately she spotted her profile.
"Bingo!" chimed Azell twirling in her seat.
Clicking on her profile she noticed Carine's life was very posh. Her profile picture was nothing like the Carine she witnessed a month ago. This woman was beautiful as well as her friend beside her. Both had flawless make-up and nails. But their dresses and jewelry were no JCPenney find! No those were definitely top dollar in evert aspect.
Scrolling down Azell wondered who Carine had married. Clicking on the 'About Me' tab she only found 'Married' but nothing else about Carine's mystery husband. Scrolling back up, Azell hit the messenger button and started to type Carine.
"Hey! It's just me! You can tell from my profile pic lol π A detective called and couldnt reach you. He wants us both to come in for the reports. Do you want to meet up and go together? If you do then when will be good? I have vacay ππ starting tomorrow."
Azell pressed send and closed her laptop. Reaching for her phone she plopped herself on her bed. Today's Sunday. I have two weeks vacation. Turning to her side she reached for the t.v remote. These next few days are about relaxation. She settled for a showing of Kickboxer on HBO. Van Damme was so cool back then thought Azell.
Azell's phone and laptop both dinged with a message notification. Turning her phone over she realized Carine had written back.
"Creeper. Yes, I purposely gave the cop a non working number. I'm really not interested in making any statements. Thanks! Carine."
"What the hell is up her ass?" Azell yelled out. Typing she wrote back, "Just relating a message. Not being creepy! π I think we should go! It will help keep scream face in jail. We can meet up earlier or after and hang out. There's a coffee shop and bakery a block away from the police station."
Azell grunted and waited but no more messages arrived. Just as she was putting down her phone both dings sounded again.
"I don't want to go. But I will only because I feel I owe you π and feel sorry for your ass. We can go tomorrow after 10am. What's the coffee shop called and by the way who's scream face?" Wrote Carine
Azell stared at Carine's message with rising anger.
"She feels sorry for me? This bitch better watch herself!" Azell yelled at her phone
Not knowing if Azell could stop from writing how she really felt she simply wrote, "Leon's Bakery & Cafe. Google it. 10:15am!"
Azell then proceeded to turn off both her phone and laptop. She continued to watch her favorite star beat the crud out Tong Po.
"I really wish I could fight again." said Azell soberly.
Azell thought of Nate. She wondered why he hadnt burglarized her home yet after finding out where she lived. Laying down on her bed she wondered if Nate was actually a decent guy beyond his tough guy exterior. She wanted to find out.
