Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Well, if their story is true, that would explain the reason why William was allowed so much power he can gain, for entertainment or possibly to cull the number of those that caused problems in each god or goddess's little world.

This is just speculation on William's side, but that thought alone was still scary.

But now was an even bigger problem. If he was right, what are the chances of something trying to send him in a direction where he had to 'cull' the numbers?

But anyway, back to the situation at hand.

The two sisters were done telling their story. They were ready for the man to call them liars and such, but interestingly enough, not only did the strange man with them believe them, but he was also asking what they will do for the next few days!

Sheila and Rena weren't sure why but they felt at ease around him, while the older sister was ready to use her body to ensure their survival as a bargaining chip.

Such methods weren't needed as the man looked, but he wasn't taking any actions to molest them or anything like that, which was weird since human men tend to act lustfully when in a life or death situation!

Thus William, who had already had his fill of Sheila's breasts earlier while they were knocked out, had given them a positive impression~ thanks to the 'boon' the glowing man had given him.

But then the sound of an airplane starting up attracted their attention, correction, EVERYONE'S attention!

The sharp and loud sound caused the hundreds of zombies to make their way towards the noise as tens of soldiers parachuting down landed on one of the building's rooftops just opposite of the building William and the Greenwood sisters were in.

Seeing that these men were trained well and sticking together, William didn't want to let them continue with whatever they were doing, and he wanted the zombies for himself that were over 50,000 exp points!

For crying out loud, there was no way he was going to let them steal his kills!

Thus the zombified man turned to the sisters, he was about to tell them he was about to head out, but the peculiar gaze that Sheila had towards the newly arrived soldiers made him ask.

"What's wrong? Do you know them?"

She scowled before answering.

"Yes, unfortunately, they are the burning hyenas, typical mercs for hire. As long as the pay is right, they'll do anything other than killing themselves or their teammates."

William frowned as the woman's words were laced with disgust.

Since they were here, they should be here to help the people.

But thinking about what she said, he asked her a question to confirm his thoughts about these mercs.

"Since they are here, I am guessing the mercs were hired to eliminate, not rescue, right?"

She nodded solemnly while pulling her sister closer to her.

Sheila was afraid.

Her encounters with this group were always that of an enemy.

Just like the name of their group, they scavenge everything available and burn everything else. At the same time, they did take some tasks to rescue people in the past.

They mostly specialized in eliminating targets. So yes, Someone of great power hired these mercenaries this time.

Their task today was to eliminate every single human and zombie that was within this closed area!

There was a particular bonus should they eliminate the other 'player' aka William, as their client this time was someone similar to the gods that sent the former hitman here!

William had already sensed that something was wrong with this situation.

Thus he told the sisters to wait here for a bit while he cleared the area for them.

While Sheila wanted to come along and help, he persuaded her to stay with her sister before handing her gun back with the extra magazines he collected earlier.

The hitman was still wary of the woman, the situation was already getting out of hand with the newcomers and weaponry these mercs had.

The elder sister had a helpless look before asking.

"Can you show us your face?"

The Man, who was clueless of her intentions, resolutely rejected that, made the girls feel down before hearing his following words.

"Look, with the situation right now, I won't make any promises, nor should you! I don't want to deal with the cliche 'raising flags' bullcrap!"

This made the two girls chuckle at the silly nonsense he was spouting, but they agreed before the three of them said together.

"Stay safe."

William smirked under his mask before adding.

"Jinx, you owe me a soda~."

Both sisters were confused at first before realizing why he said that while they wanted to say something, the man already left, leaving the Greenwood sisters within the PBB as they barricaded it was the materials that he brought earlier.

----------

"Hey boss, is this mission really worth it?"

The question came from one of the Burning Hyenas.

The person asking this was a man of Spanish descent, with short yet curly brown hair, brown eyes, round nose, sharp and high cheekbones, thin lips, round chin, with the rest of his body covered in gear that doesn't match the timeline of this world.

The person he was talking to was a heavily scarred woman that, oddly enough, helped emphasized her beautiful looks.

She had short red hair tied in a ponytail, lazy-looking blue eyes, a pointed nose, full lips that held a cigar.

She, too, was wearing the same kind of gear as the man that questioned her choice of taking this job.

So the 'boss' asked her subordinate.

"Tell me, Jose, without this gear, do you think that our group will last against the iron lions or even the blood hawks?"

The two mentioned groups were long-lasting enemies they had to compete with on numerous occasions.

Every year, the two other mercenary organizations returned with better gear each time, making them suffer some hefty losses the past five years.

They were that desperate.

Imagine their numbers used to be in the thousands thanks to recruiting criminals and those that had no other choice but to take this route, now they were reduced to a mere few hundred, if this keeps up their group will disappear completely!

The question made 'Jose' bite his lower lip, it depressingly answered his question as the other two groups weren't going to let them leave unscathed, yes it was easy to join the industry, but it was EXTREMELY hard to leave it.

Once you try to leave, old enemies will hunt you down since you no longer have the 'pack' to help and protect you!

Yes, the survivors of the burning hyena all wanted to leave, but that was akin to suicide from the stunts they pulled and enemies they made.

The redhead patted Jose on the head as she assured him.

"With this gear, Not only will we finally be able to deal with our problems but also finally leave all this behind and settle down."

The amount of money that was offered to every single one of them was 1 trillion dollars, and they get to keep their weapons and armor that repaired itself if there was enough metal provided.

With such offers, It was no wonder why they accepted the deal, but at the same time, thanks to being part of this industry for so long, they had some idea of how difficult it will be, even with the futuristic gear that was given.

But they were already here, and there was no way of turning back.

The next thing that they heard, however, quickly made them believe that they were lambs to the slaughter.

A ghastly voice from somewhere above spoke these slow extended words laced with bloodlust that felt like they in the deepest part of hell!

"I.....SEE...YOU.....~!"

Then strange blue arrows struck every one of them, knocking them down to the ground as a blurry figure added.

"ONE!"

Before causing the head of the soldier that it was over to explode, then disappeared from sight!
