Brother Aaron had stepped outside and was already on the road. He had asked if anyone was going into the town so he could hopefully hitch a ride in but everyone that waswanting to do so had already left. Having already promised father Malik his options were to find someone to hitch a ride or make the arduous walk.
Looking around he noticed that a cart in the distance was slowly making its way down the road, Aaron waved to hail the cart to stop. It was a charity that everyone gave to the church and expected to give respect to them. Although it was a small chapel in the region, the people behind it were no small part responsible for the nation.
Brother Aaron could clearly see two people atop the cart as he waved to let them know he wanted a pickup. The dust being kicked up by the cart however caused him to drown, a furrow on his brow appeared. They don't look like they're slowing down. But Brother Aaron pushed the thought to the back of his head. No one would be daft enough to not recognise him and ignore the church. With a touch of reassurance he smiled as he waited while the cart got closer. In the next moment however he tried to keep his jaw from dropping as the cart sped past him. He stood still for a moment before chasing the cart for a pickup, his robes were already beginning to be dusty from all the dirt kicked up on the road.
Rin looked back at the pitful appearance of the young man in robes. If it wasn't for the chat they were having they might have not noticed him at all.
"Leon, do you think we should pick the man up?" Rin asked. Leon looked back at the young man that was slowly getting further away. With a shrug Leon pulled on the reins as the horse slowed down, the man finally being able to catch up.
The young man was heaving as he reached the cart. The sweat on his brow made it obvious he didn't go out much despite his thin appearance.
"I thank you for the pious charity" Brother Aaron said as he leaned on the cart to gather his breath.
"If you want a ride, get on sooner rather than later" Leon quipped while being in the driver's seat. Brother Aaron shot the man a look of surprise at his treatment. Even the town Lord gave them more respext than the present in front of him. However he pushed down the feeling of anger, charity was not always given with a joyous heart.
Brother Aaron pulled himself onto the cart facing opposite a woman that was sitting there casually. A number of crates caught his eye as they were filled to the brim with bottles.
"Are you making a wine delivery into the town?" Brother Aaron asked. Getting to know the people was on rod the first lessons in his teachings and to understand the complexities and depths of the human heart. Leon gave a huff and cracked the reins so the cart moved again. The cart almosted jolted under Brother Aaron's feet and he clutched onto the side to keep his balance while he went to sit.
"I haven't been the town lately so I was wondering if you could tell me if anything has been happening lately" Brother Aaron tried to start the conversation as the two companions he was with were steadfastly silent now. He was sure they laughing and chatting earlier, the operation of the disrespect caused his mouth to twitch.
"We don't much either. We live further out of the town so you would have to ask the folks there" Leon stated flatly. To Brother Aaron it seemed like he didn't want to let the young girl talk to him. Brother Aaron could only guess a few reasons why a man would refuse to let a girl next to him talk with another man. Truly jealously was an ugly sin if he ever saw one.
"I didn't mean to get in between you and your wife. The chapel is often behind closed doors so we like to keep abreast of the outside world when we have a chance." Brother Aaron said with a smile, not too many woman were immune to his smile he knew. If he had to he would be more than willing to use what he had to turn these stiff statues of people onto something at least a little animated. However the response was beyond what he had expected
"We're not married. Kept your assumptions to your self" Leon said, the irritation was quite obvious in his tone. Brother Aaron flet his patience was being eroded at an amazing rate while dealing with the two. He did notice however that the girl opposite him blushed a little, giving a little bit of his pride back. Although he did not pursue women in his vow chastity, it didn't mean he wouldn't feel good when being actively pursued.
"Brother Aaron" the young man said talking directly with Rin.
"Rin" Rin said, her blush had disappeared and talked to him matte of factly. He held his face droop a little. Wasn't she supposed to be putty in his hands. This woman was strange as they came. Slowly becoming bored from the lack of conversation he looked over the bottles that were in its crates, pulling one out to observe. If it was a good wine, it would be an excellent gift to the brothers in the chapel. Often they had to abide by a restriction of the common desires of people, often these were the gateways to leading a sinful life but everyone also knew that suppression of wants should be done in moderation. However the colour of the bottles was not a deep red but a strange green. Giving a quick sniff near the cork of the bottle a faint medicinal smell caused him to withdraw.
"What kind of wine is this?" Brother Aaron said in confusion. Rin reached over taking the bottle out of his hand and placing back into its crate.
"We never claimed it to be wine" Rin said, the man was certainly starting to annoy her now as well.
"Then what could you possibly be selling?" Brother Aaron asked, his looks and voice were regarding the two now with high suspicion.
"We're just delivering this, do you have to ask more questions than we do" Leon could already tell that Brother Aaron was going to be trouble at this rate. Rin seemed to have caught on and remained silent as well. Brother Aaron wasn't used to this attitude, especially since his suspicions weren't cleared at the behaviour of the two.
However if they were just the delivery people there wouldn't be much point prying into it so Brother Aaron left it alone for now. The mix of people in the cart stayed quiet as they entered into the town. What made Brother Aaron interested was the goodwill the guards had towards the two in the cart. It was certainly frustrating as often the brothers coming into the town often had trouble dealing with the guards individually and yet these two were waved through so easily.
The people all greeted each other and what surprised Brother Aaron the most was that everyone knew the two people on the cart. The last time he had seen this was when Father Malik had gone to the people and gave thanks for pious alms to the poor.
"Who are you guys?" Brother Aaron asked.
"Delivery people" Leon replied back as they made their way past the crowd. If everyone could become popular and well liked as a delivery driver than who needed to be in power Brother Aaron thought to himself as he scoffed.
