Chapter 81 - Parting ways

A few weeks pass which gave us loads of time to bond with our babies, I smile softly as I watch Kirito hold both of them in his arms with a very gentle look. It was a beautiful image that would forever be engraved into my mind.

Once they were asleep he lays both of them down next to each other and then comes to lay down next to me.

"They are fast asleep, How do you feel today?"

I lean my head against his shoulder.

"I feel fine, but looking at them makes me feel guilty about what we are about to go do soon..."

Kirito takes my hand into his.

"They will be fine until we get back, Kana is a wonderful mother and will be the perfect aunt, and I am sure everyone will pitch in to help as well...Ash also said he would stay behind to watch over them."

I feel the sense of relief hit when I hear those words.

(I never realized this but...After years of unhappiness...I have finally found a sense of true peace, and it's something I would die to preserve.)

Ok, So when do you want to set out?"

He smiles in response to my question.

"Well, I was able to get in contact with my family, They have been building a resistance team and said they would like to meet up, That way we can all make a plan."

I nod

"I'm glad to hear that your family is ok, How is everyone?"

Kirito sighs before leaning back.

"Everyone's ok they just want the war to be over just as bad as we do, My mother however is said to be on her death bed."

I take a glance at him to see him looking at our children, I then take his hand and hold it tightly.

"Are you ok?"

He nods.

"It's to be expected, I haven't had any contact with them in the previous 4 and a half years and during that time she got sick, there is nothing we can do it's terminal."

I lean my head back onto his shoulders.

"Ok, Than let's leave tomorrow to go see them."

Kirito looks down at me oddly.

"I thought you were worried about Stella and Axle?"


I giggle and then look back up at him peering into the depth of his eyes.

"I am, But I have to trust our big family here to take care of them, Besides...We need to finish this war before it too consumes our children."

Kirito smiles.

"I don't know what I'd do without you Yuki."

I smile as well and lean in kissing him, When I pull away I climb into his arms to cuddle with him.

"I can say the same."

(The following day)

Once we packed up what was needed for our trip and the twins were fast asleep I sigh and sit back in the chair holding them one last time.

"You two are so cute, mommy and daddy will miss you so much so please be good for aunty Kana while we are away."

As if they could understand what I was saying they both smile in their deep sleep state and I smile back taking all the snuggles I could get before Kana and Kirito come in.

Kana smiles as she picks up the twins in both her arms.

"You two be careful and come back home safely."

Kirito and I both nod before kissing the twins goodbye, While heading out the door to meet the others we approach headmaster and Suzaku who are talking to Ash. Once noticed by them Ash throws his arms around Kirito and mine shoulders getting in between us.


"So, We got news that Rode and his men are still hiding in the capital, word has spread hes still recovering from his injuries, the healing process has slowed to months instead of weeks from using that alchemy on him."

I smirk.

"Good, Then this will be the best time to go meet up with the others, Then we can figure out the best move from their. I'm sure that everyone who lives in the capitol may know more about what's going on then we do."

I recall the last battle and how weak I was and smile with contentment.

(I'm stronger than before, I can maintain that power more than before so if it were to come to it again I'm sure I could use this 10 times more than last time...)

"The fact we are hearing of his delayed healing power makes this a big advantage for us, but to be sure I agree that this would be a great time to scout the area as well and collect even more intel while we meet up with the others we can all share and confirm."

Headmaster smirks while scratching his stubby beared.

"Looks like all of my training has paid off, ok well im sending a few others with you guys I have a secondary mission for them."

We nod and headmaster signals for someone to come on in.

Kadachi comes in looking sleepy.

"I'll be sending Kadachi, Ash and Suzaku closer to the capital to do some recon and set up a plan b in case something goes wrong, we will breech you more on it at a later date."

We both nod and I clutch my fist.

(This time, This time we have to make sure we do this right…)
