Chapter 19 - Foundations

"But before we get into theory, let's take a quick look at the current state of affairs"

"It seems that 95% of students in this class have only scored the bare minimum to pass across the Political subjects and histories, so I will give a quick lesson now." Simon flipped through a large text book on his desk.

"Most of you all should know that Haven is an organisation created by the Grand Union for the purpose of raising youths into capable leaders that can bring the Union to new heights. For those of you that don't know, the Grand Union is made up of 5 countries. These countries are all of the same status and power, Vale, Bastion, Eastia, Newcourt, and Vulkaen. We are actually situated in the centre of the continent, the border between all 5 countries. As such, Haven has members as diverse as the land itself."

"Prof!" Liam shouted.

"What is it, Mr Chen?" Simon tiredly responded.

"How did the Union start? Isn't that important?"

"Ah, yes... the Grand Union came to be after the end of a bloody period of continuous warfare known as the Millennium War. 200 years ago, a conflict between all 5 countries came to an abrupt end when a man said to be he strongest in the continent emerged and took the seat of its ruler. This man would be known as the Grand Chancellor, the ruler of the Grand Union. It has been said that the Chancellor had ascended to grand visionary and is residing somewhere in the continent, waiting for his destined disciple, but such rumours should be disregarded. The is no point in chasing after something and forgetting about your life before you. Anyhow, there isn't actually any knowledge about how the Millennium War actually started, but one can guess when 5 superpowers all vie for control of vast expanses of land."

"But there is a much more simple and accurate explanation for the cause of the war: demons. Scholars of the past 2 centuries have commented that in the years of the Millennium War, no demons were found to be roaming the earth, seemingly hiding. Numerous theories suggest that the demons had infiltrated the human world and influenced the 5 countries to go to war, in the hope of gathering blood to feed themselves. There was no evidence for these theories until just a few decades ago, when a certain organisation called the Otherworldly Devils Cult emerged from the shadows." Simon took a deep breath before continuing, stopping to take a look at the now engaged class.

"The ODC as we now call it in the mainstream media, has proven one thing. With the power it possesses and the wide network it employs, the Union has concluded that even with a genius leader and master recruiters, it would have taken the cult at least a Millenia to dig their roots so deep that they could employ the use of numerous high level demons. In fact, the cult actually has been confirmed to have roots in classical texts from the times of the Millennium War! Mentions of demon summoners have shown up across numerous commentaries and official reports from centuries ago."

"But one thing is for sure, the ODC is the enemy of mankind. Each and everyone of its members are classified as deviants, known for merging their blood with that of demons. Their only goal is to become demons and to cull humanity. In fact, some of you may remember an incident from a couple of days-"

"Wait, didn't a student get kidnapped by a cultist in the gym a few days back?!" Someone shouted.

"Are you saying that such savage animals are in Haven?!"

"SHUT UP! This is why you need to learn things other than fighting. Otherwise you will be ignorant and innocent what really goes on in the world. Anyhow, that ends the history section, I may touch on politics a bit later into the session actually. For now, let's talk about forming a 3D shape." Simon quickly grabbed a simple wooden cube from under his desk and levitated it with his right index finger.

"Expert... 7th vision...?" The class was shocked, but tried to remain silent.

"A simple cube. You may ask, why you are being asked to create a cube with VP, but I can assure you of the long term benefits." Stretching out his left arm to the side, Simon concentrated and formed what seemed to be a glowing red cube. In truth, he had never actually done this before, but after doing this, he felt like he had gained a ton of insight. 'Wow! This exercise is great!'

"This exercise trains your concentration and your visualisation, being able to create a cube is he first step towards understanding my classes. The method is simple, map out a cube, its faces, its edges, its volume. Note that this technique requires VP to create the cube, and your first tries will not be anything short of terrible. Just remember that the corners are all 90 degrees!"
