Chapter 147 - Chapter 146 Life magic

The youngest boys, after having breakfast strode down the hall to their classroom. They were the last to arrive yet before they could even push the door and fully enter, Kin's voice rang in their ears.

"See it?! This is gold, and this is yellow! There is a huge difference alright, a HUGE difference!! Don't you guys ever mistake gold for yellow!!"

Coming in, they saw Kin standing at the middle of the room, pressing Aspen and Lux over a trivial matter. The room is also silent except for his voice which was unusual for them.

Seeing the youngest boys arrive, like a flash of lightning, Kin grabbed Rex and pulled him in the front of the crowd.

"This, guys...is yellow." He said while grabbing a bundle of Rex dandelion colored hair. "Don't ever mistake it for my beautiful gold! Unlike yellow, gold shines more beautifully and far more dashing than lame yellow..."

Having enough with his nonsense, Rex pushed him away with brute force and bellowed. "What the hell was wrong with you!? Did you hit your head or something this morning?"

"Eh! What are you talking about? Of course, nothing is wrong with me. I'm just trying to make the difference between yellow and gold clear." Kin said haughtily with his arms crossed.

Hearing his words, Rex brows twitched. Everyone, along with those who just arrived were also looking at him as if he was an idiot. They just can't understand what made him act this way as if he lost his sanity in the first thing in the morning.

"Are you stupid?"

Taken aback, Kin quickly retorted. "Shut up! What rights does an idiot like you have to call someone as great as me stupid?!"

"He lost it, didn't he?" Rex said pointing a finger at him, looking at Lune, Airi, and the others.

"What happened to you exactly?" Lux asked him with suspicions gaze as though thinking his best friend had been possessed.

Kin flushed red and seemed reluctant to answer. Seeing his silence and unwillingness to admit his deed, Sugar spoke with her eyes and tone full of disdain.

"Tut-tut! You guys wanna know why? You won't believe it." She said.

"A girl from 1-A confessed to him and presented him a canary saying that it looks like him. And guess what he did. Tut! He snatched the canary from the girl, plucked out all its feathers then threw the poor thing away half-dead. His actions of bullying that poor canary sent the girl crying. Tut-tut!" Sugar spat angrily.

She showed her classmates the canary she rescued. It looks really fat and fluffy -- well, if the feathers weren't gone -- and its head was dangling weakly, seemly just suffered from torment and met an unforgettable trauma.

Brushing her cheeks lovingly in the poor thing, she said with voice full of relief and grievance. "Oh, you lovely poor thing, it's really fortunate that I happened to pass by and saw everything. If not, I can't bear to imagine what might happen."

As everyone looked at the featherless chubby bird, and as the listened to Sugar's enticing sweet voice, they soon turned to look at Kin with faces full of disgust.

"So that's what it is. Kin you're really mean."

"Kin you just bullied a poor creature. That's against the laws. Didn't you consider what the canary guardians would do?"

Each of the animals, have their guardians. These guardians power also relied on the existence of the creature they were supposed to protect. Just like how there is a butterfly clan which protects the existence of the butterflies, canaries also used to have its guardians. Unfortunately, the Canary clan are one of those ancient and forgotten families that had gone extinct after the ancient wars.

"I don't care. Canaries don't have guardians! And besides, even if there is, I Kin, the child of gold, am the heir to the throne of the next emperor of the great empire of Elements. Who dares go against my words when my words were the law itself!"

As if tired of his nonsense, Yin yawned and told him as a matter-of-factly. "You're just a prince who barely have any authority, Isn't that right, Yang?"

"And also, the Sacred realm is just recovering. What if you are?" Myth added.

"Yeah...and you're getting left out too. Kishi, Kira and even Livi were younger than you by three years yet they were already powerful and have lots of authority over the palace. Not to mention Airi who's only in the lower realm and a half-blood. Comparing them to you, you're beyond pitiful."

Hearing these harsh words from the mouth of Asa whom he calls his friend, his heart greatly ached. Agitated by the matter, his angry and embarrassed face turned red as he glared at the canary with murderous eyes causing it to shudder from fright.

"Doesn't matter!! Give me that disgraceful thing!!" He hastily tried to grab the shuddering bird from Sugar's hands.

"NO!" The girl dodge causing him to fall on is face.

"You!" He was really angry. He hated that ugly and fat canary to his heart. Dashing forward once again, he was sent flying when Sugar kicked him without holding back.

From the side lines, Mythica sighed. Yin, Yang, and Rex were also with her. The four of them sighed helplessly as they watched the ex-siblings fight against each other just because of a single bird.

Sigh... "The two of them were getting along pretty well, aren't they?"

Sighing, Yin replied. "Yeah...they really do. Right, Yang?"

...

That same day, everyone was at the library as always. It was already afternoon and the classes were already over so they decided to spend their free time studying.

Livi was sitting on a bean bag and Kishi was sitting on the carpet beside him. The two of them were immersed in their studies, ignoring Airi and Rex who kept asking them questions about higher Sacred magic.

After a while, Livi was unable to put up with it any longer. "What do you offer me in exchange?"

Airi pondered about it for a while. Rex was the first one who could come up with an idea without considering the consequences deeply, causing the others to glare at him.

"Oh! I know! What about if each of us will do one thing you can think of."

"Idiot!"

"Stupid!"

"What!? Why?"

"Fine then, I'll show you guys just once, but Kishi, you'll have to do me one favor as well."

Kishi just looked at him with a blank expression. Inwardly, he refused, but his curiosity of Life magic overwhelms him even more. If it is as the legends says it is then, could it be true that it could resurrect a dead person?

Accepting his silence as a yes, Livi then began. "You see, Life magic as it the name says it is, is a magic that could manipulate life. As Life palace's chosen prince, I could bring judgement on who lives and who dies. I could kill anything within the Life palace's territory which is one fifth of the whole world. That is to say, I could kill every single living existence within my range now if I please in an instant with just a snap of my finger. But of course, why would I do that." Livi titled his head with his playful smile breaking the tense atmosphere.

"Since you can kill, you can bring back the dead too, right?" Lune asked curiously.

"Yes, but there are limits. It's easier to destroy than too repair so I can't do it in an instant and has many conditions. The first is, it needs a lot of magical energy to perform. For living creatures higher than plants and trees, like animals and similar, I cannot resurrect it one hour after it died. I also cannot resurrect it if died in a disease as it's forbidden by Clover. Living creatures included in the ten races can't also be resurrected unless I killed them myself. But with my current strength, I can't resurrect them even if I want to so I never tried. But even if I could, I would probably be unconscious for several months in the least because magical deficiency."

Everyone who could hear what he said remained silent. Kishi was the one who broke the silence. Sighing he muttered.

"So it's impossible huh?...."

"Not necessarily." Livi said.

"What do you mean?" Airi questioned.

"It could be resurrected even after one hour or even if it's from the ten races that I did not kill myself. It would be possible if one offered a sacrifice. However, it's not just any sacrifice. The sacrifice must be of the same value of the dead or it cannot be possible."

"Of the same value? What do you mean?" Airi asked again. "Could there be anything on par with the value as life?"

"Of the same value, what I mean is, the same value in the person's heart who wanted that creature alive again."
