It was another peaceful day in the past.
"Nisan! Nisan! Wait for me! Don't go, don't leave me!" A girl kept calling out, running after her elder twin brother into the dark forest.
Panting, she kept running until she accidentally tripped on a pointy rock and fell. She closed her eyes on fright, but she didn't feel any pain so she opened her eyes again.
"That's why I told you not to follow me. Look at you, you almost hurt yourself."
Looking up, she found once again the worried look in the face of her brother that looked exactly like her.
"I got you! I got you!"
"Eh! Kira..."
Ignoring his worry and restlessness, the girl smiled at him cheerfully and hugged him delight as she chuckled. "I got you now so nisan, you're not going anywhere without me!"
"But I--"
"I'm going with you!" she persisted
The boy stared at her fixedly. "But it's dangerous and there's a lot of scary stuff and..." He tried to convince her to not to come along but she didn't waver.
The girl moved her face closer to him and smiled. "But you'll protect me, right?"
"Why do you want to tag along?" He asked, staring at her unyielding look.
She pressed her index finger on her chin and tilted her head slightly as she pondered. "hmm...why?" she then held his hand tightly and answered. "I want to be with you anywhere and always. Don't leave me alone, I don't like it when I 'am. But don't worry, I won't get hurt 'cause you'll be protecting me, right?"
He looked at her and sighed. "Fine..."
"Yay!"
"But hold my hand okay. And don't get lost." He warned her.
The two of them then ventured the forest, up the mountain, across rives and down the hills.
They had always been together. Even as they go on adventures in their world within the place's territories, they walk side by side together with hands interlocked.
In the deep forest, there hides a beautiful waterfall surrounded with tall bushes and lovely flowers. They like spending their day there and when they wanted to run away from their studies and etiquettes.
The nature and the creatures of the forest loved them. Every time they went outside, they were always followed by colorful butterflies and other insects as well as pretty birds and small animals.
The shallow river glimmered under the sunlight as it reflects light, making the pebbles around it sparkle like gems.
The beautiful sound as the waterfalls is very soothing. The place is also surrounded by a magical barrier, making the place difficult to be found and protecting it from everything that goes on outside.
"Look Kira, the stone made it to the other side. Isn't that great?!"
The girl smile and applauded cheerfully. "Yes, brother is really great!"
But them suddenly, the smile on her face faded and she suddenly ran through the bushes.
"Err! Kira!"
Her brother ran after her but she continued to run despite tripping a couple of times, she did not stop.
Not long, they spotted a clearing and there they found a weak spirit being cornered by a big and evil spirit.
After a second of catching her breath, the girl suddenly dashed between the spirits and attempted to protect the weaker spirit.
Unfazed by her presence, the evil spirit lunged at her but then suddenly disappeared, showering the place with glimmering purple dust.
The boy grinned as he sighed. "That was dangerous..." the conjured sword he used to kill the spirit suddenly disappeared, melting onto thin air.
He then looked at her. She was now slowly approaching the frightened spirit. It was shaking terribly and was slowly taking a step back as she approaches.
"Come here little one, don't be scared." She said.
The spirit suddenly made a run for it and she ran after it. "Wait! I don't mean to hurt you--AHH!"
"Kira!"
She tripped again and fell of the ground. The boy quickly approached her and checked if she's okay.
Bending slightly with his hands on his knees, he asked her, "Are you okay?"
"Owiie..." It seemed that she sprained her ankle. Although she was hurt, she smiled and showed her brother what she got. "Look nisan! I got her!"
The boy stared at the spirit. The spirit has a slightly translucent form and is still shaking from fright. It looked like a little fox cub that is white in color. "A four-tailed white fox huh? You got a rare one."
"Yup!" the girl nodded enthusiastically. "Nisan, what should I name her?"
"You want to make it your familiar?" the girl nodded. "How can you be so sure it's a girl though?"
"I just knew." She answered.
"O-okay...she's cute so maybe something cute...let's see...."
"Fuffy!" the girl suddenly shouted.
He looked at her then smiled. "Okay, but she's only a weak spirit, are you okay with that?"
she nodded in response.
The two of them went home then. He carried her in his back while the spirit hovered closely behind them.
As she warped her arms on his shoulders, she spoke. "Nisan, were gonna get scolded."
"And whose fault do you think that is?"
"I'm sorry." She said sheepishly.
He sighed once again and said, "It's fine. I don't mind being scolded but you got yourself hurt."
"It's alright. It's just a minor injury."
"No, it's not alright! Whether or not it's a small injury you're still hurt. That won't be okay! Ever!"
She smiled and warped her arms tighter as she leaned her head closer to his. "Nisan...You worry too much."
"How could I not when you can't even take care of yourself properly." He said poutingly. "At this rate, I really can't leave you alone."
The girl giggled and replied. "But you will never leave me, right? Nisan will stay by my side forever and ever, right?"
"You silly sister..."
The girl smiled again and gave him a kiss in the cheek as she hugged him so tightly.
"Nisan, you smell nice."
"Do I?"
"Yup! And you're really warm too!"
"Of course, Kira, I'm alive."
"That's not what I mean."
"I know."
"Eh!! Nisan, stop teasing me!"
"Whoa! Don't move around too much you'll fall!"
"I'll tell Sychi you're being mean to me again!"
"You're the one being unfair here, not me!"
"Jerk!"
"Kira...!"
The two of them got scolded afterward yet it didn't matter. The two of them had a lot of fun together and they found another friend.
That day was at mid-autumn and the leaves were all yellow orange and red.
No matter what the season is, they always had fun.
They grew up knowing only to play, to eat, to sleep, to study and read, and they learned how to be elegant and to dance. They did not know any hardship.
Their loneliness and lack of love could always be filled by the other's existence. They did not know what real pain is. They were happy and contented just to have each other. They were only innocent children back then. Little do they know that a tragedy will occur in the time they least expect.
