After what Airi told him, although reluctant, Kishi finally released Kira from his embrace but he still tightly held her hand, looking at her worriedly.
The ladies smiled at his actions, and Airi sighed in relief.
To Apollo, it will be much more convenient if everyone else could leave including Kishi, but right now, they were already fortunate enough so he couldn't really complain.
As he touched Kira's pale cheek though, it was really cold. And the fact that her breathing is unstable and Kishi was so reluctant to let her go, even for just a second, told him that she was feeling a lot of pain and her condition was really bad he doesn't know when she'll awake.
The child was traumatized at what happened almost five years ago that she became mute for months even after she was rescued from the hands of the Dark lords.
When Kishi brought her back to the palace, her health was so bad she suffered a lot because of the intense magical energy from the palace that if it wasn't for Kishi, her situation could have gotten more worse.
Although he did not say anything about it, Apollo knew that for four whole years, the Dark lords had been extracting magical energy from the child, torturing her until she passes out and a lot of more cruel things.
They'd been using her power to create a powerful weapon that no one will be able to defend against.
It was also surprising that she's still alive and only suffered some few consequences that was easily dealt with Kishi's power. She should have died from magic depletion or will be rendered unable to wield magic anymore, but none of those happened.
Knowing that, he should be happy but Apollo wasn't. It's because of another secret that they'd been hiding from the children and from the world. And other than their cruel faith, their curses, it is also one more thing that the world should not know.
It was a secret that will endanger their lives and is a powerful weapon that the world will either want, or destroy.
Despite them not knowing that, he had a rough idea that Kishi already know some things. And as for Kira, she is as weak as ever. Her sufferings that she experienced from those evil people seemed to be coming back to her once again.
He can tell that she was having some nightmares about the past and was so scared that even Kishi could feel it.
Things just calmed down for a moment but it seems that another storm will arrive sooner or later.
From what he already knew, Apollo can predict what's going to happen next, and what the children's move will be. For now, he'll just wait till something happens, but whatever the outcome of this incident is, he would not do anything about it, and will just go with the flow. Perhaps that would be the best.
The ladies, as well as Airi sat on the sofa near the fire place as they chatted and drunk some tea.
Airi was reading a book as he ate some ice cream and some cookies. Apparently, his time spending with the twins had influenced his habits and behavior.
Sychi was sitting on his shoulder as she took a bite on her cookie. After swallowing, she spoke.
"Airi, it seems they trust you a lot. I didn't expect you to be able to persuade Kishi, in fact I didn't expect you to get close as to touch Kira at all."
Airi gazed at her confusedly. Kail smiled and placed down her tea cup and she told him soothing about the past.
"Indeed. Kishi is really stubborn and cold unlike Kira. When she got abducted four...no, five years ago, Kishi locked himself up is room and closed his heart from everyone. Not even Meijin could get close to him. In fact, he even attacked him subconsciously."
"Really?" Airi sounded amused and curious. "Why?"
"Because he's human." Sychi answered. "technically he isn't but no one could really get close to him and Meijin's the one who forced his way in."
"Ohh...I also heard that Kishi and Kira suffer from Anthropophobia, but I thought that it was only a rumor." said Galen. "So, it was really true? What caused it."
"Probably that incident." Amili proclaimed. "They might have been raised by fairies and doesn't know the human world at all, but they still knew that the ones who kidnapped Kira were humans."
"Kishi hated the humans who took his dear sister who is everything to him away, while Kira suffered in humans' hands." Sychi added. "It wasn't really that surprising. I mean, can you blame them, they're only children yet they went through so much pain."
"But can you say they're recovering? They spend a lot of times with humans now, Airi was even able to convince little Kishi." Said Galen.
Everyone fell silent as they pondered about. Kail was the first one to speak before Sychi.
"I don't believe it."
"Me neither." Sychi sighed. "Airi, they trust you so much you should be careful not to betray their trust. They might be very naïve and tolerates things so much, but they are not so trusting. The only one they truly trust is each other. But if you betray their trust, I don't think that even I could protect you from their wrath."
Airi did not say anything and Sychi continued. "They are very kind, but they don't want anyone who stabs them at the back. If you would ever cause them harm, I 'am afraid that you will be lucky if they take only your life." She said. "but I trust that you wouldn't do that, would you?"
Airi looked at her for a moment then he shook his head. "Why would I do that?"
"Who knows?" She shrugged.
"Speaking of humans..." Airi spoke as he realized something. "why did you ask me to try and convince him when you know well that they are afraid of humans."
"Well, you're not human." Amili spoke as-a-matter-of-factly. "Maybe then, but not now. You're no longer human, are you? You're an immortal."
"Does that even make a difference." Airi mumbled but they all ignored him.
As he looked around, he noticed that none of the are human at all. Apollo was a true fairy, as well as Kail as she was a fairy princess. Sychi is a high raked fairy, Amili on the other hand was a princess from the spirit fairies, guardians and rulers of the spirit race. And Galen is a half elf and human. As for him, they were right, he was an immortal and he's no longer human. So much for a simple and peaceful life.
Kail's voice was what brought him back to reality.
"And besides, Airi, you're their elder brother, right? We thought they would listen to you. But most of all, unlike any of us here, you accepted them for who they are for the very first time you've met and have also spent a lot of time with them, you probably know them a lot by now."
"The princess is right." Sychi nodded. "you have the right to earn that much trust from them, and they'll sure listen to you. That's why, I Sychi asked you to take good care of them."
She hovered in front of him and curtsied. From the side, Airi can see that Kai wore this smile that shows all her agreement. Amili and Galen remained silent as they did not wish to interrupt.
Airi opened his mouth to say something, but no words came out. He was totally dumbfounded he was not prepared for any of this.
Fortunately for him, Apollo walked over to them and spoke.
"The two of them were as sleep. It would be best if we could bring them home. The sooner the better."
"Already?" Galen asked. "But their vacation just started and they're already going home...what a bummer."
"It's for the best. They aren't really fit to stay here. Whether all this happened or not the outcome would be the same. They're just too weak they won't be able to have that much fun anyway."
Galen became pissed and said to him as she pouted. "You know what?! You're really mean!"
"And why should I care about you?" Apollo asked her coldly
"Hmph! They're only children how could you be so cold!"
The two of them quarreled and the others could only sigh. "There they go again..."
Wanting to escape, Airi went down the chair, took another piece of cookie and bit a part of it.
"Anyway, I better go check up on Lune. I hope Kira will wake up soon, she worries us too much. See ya"
And he walked out of the room and shut the door behind him.
He sure carries a lot of burden. Who thought taking care of these siblings of his would be so troublesome? They might only be his cousins but they're just like siblings to him, he really had no choice. But seriously, they're expecting a bit too much from him he hoped that he could make up for it. After all, he owed them a lot. Taking care of them was the least he could do.
Thinking about it, he kinda wondered, did they really trust him that much? Maybe he's only good at words. He suddenly so felt uneasy.
