Meijin was left speechless as she thoughtlessly mumbled her thoughts. Meijin just realized it then as he listened just how naïve they could be. But at the same time, he was stunned to know that their efforts for trying to hide everything was futile and the children are merely acting on it as if they were innocent. Not that they really know anything, but he felt himself an idiot for believing he did a good job in keeping it all a secret.
"We were happy when you told us some part of it. We learned a lot of this about ourselves and who we really were." She kept mumbling, completely ignoring him. "But we were grateful to all of you for everything. You watched over us for years and you still care for us, even though you, Uncle's love for us was only because Uncle James told you to take good care of us, and also for the sake of mommy. We appreciated it even if it was a fake, and that is true. To nisan and me, it was a good thing that there are people who cares for us, even without them willingly doing it or without true love. It might sound sad, but nisan could always provide me the love everyone else didn't give us, much more anyone else could." She told him proudly without a single hint of sadness or pity.
Meijin never thought about it at first, but their dependence for each other was over the top that it wouldn't be surprising if they would terribly break or much worse it something they didn't expect would happen. He can only wonder what might happen it their bond was broken or if either of them would experience losing someone so dear to them just like what he had gone through. It actually makes sense that one of them will engulf the world with their wrath when the other perished in their sibling's own hands.
For once ever since they were born, he felt compassion for them. Being born cursed to bring end to the world, those who knew will only feel discrimination and hatred for them. They also knew well themselves that all that is around them are hiding everything from them. They might have experienced a good and free life when they were younger, but are they really free? Truth is, they're not. They were locked up in the palace, with none to sincerely provide them the love and care a child should be given except for each other. Who knows how much they relied on each other that despite all those pains, they were able to smile and laugh like normal children do? Not just that, but they didn't use all the suffering they went through as an excuse to be mean to others, instead they were kind and was able to appreciate everything, even those that have insignificant value.
Once again, without a single sign of bitterness she grinned and stated gratefully. "That is why we were really happy when we first stepped into the outside world. My experience in Fantasia High might not be that nice, but I was happy to have made my very first friend. But most of all, being around in E-class where everyone treats us as friends, we were so happy and swore do our best for them. We were most grateful to Airi as well. He thinks of us as a real family, he even called himself our elder brother" She chuckled. "that's why I nisan and I will look after him in exchange and make sure to be there for him no matter what. Being a part of E-class is the best thing in our life ever!"
Meijin merely looked at him as the delight overflowed her. It was either that she was so naïve that she didn't realized that a lot of unfortunate things are happening around her, or her joy was simply that much that everything else she went through was almost nothing compared to it. Thinking that they were really good children and has a positive view on everything, it made them sound even more pitiful.
Is their heart that numb not to feel any pain? Or was their dependency for each other really capable of healing those wounds no matter how fatal or many it is? But what feared him most is what might happen to them if the bond they thought was invincible is shattered by the strongest one called fate. Oh, how much can it affect them as if their life was painfully being taken away from them? Can it keep strong and held to every bit of hope it can? Or will simply shatter, wither and die?
Kira suddenly jumped up and turned around. She picked up her coat and was about to leave, but she halted for a second and glanced at him.
"Nisan is calling, I gotta go! See you later!"
As she bid him goodbye, Meijin only stared at her as she disappeared behind the bushes and thick trees.
He felt a new presence appearing beside of him and when he looked up, he saw Kail, gently beaming at him. She took a step closer, held him and landed a gentle kiss between his eyes.
"Kail..." Meijin merely closed his eyes as he muttered her name.
"What brings you here?" she asked softly.
"Nothing special, just some regular errand" he replied "Your listening, weren't you?"
"Some part of it. To be honest with you, I actually believed that they didn't know anything. They never acted indifferently towards us, I thought that all we did was fool proof." She said as she chuckled to herself.
She knelt down behind him and wrapped her arms around his neck, resting her head on his shoulders.
"But truthfully, I think they're pretty naïve. Did they honestly thought that things will always end up good even though everyone was lying to them? Yet again, they were quite easy to admire. They might be naïve, but who would have thought that mere children such as them would think that way?" she said "Pitiful...just pitiful. They always act as if they could do anything together, but they were so fragile when they're alone. It may sound exaggerated, but they would surely break even with the carefullest touch"
Meijin just remained quiet as he stared at the shallow water. Everything she said; he can't deny it.
"I'm not sure she had noticed yet, but the more they grew up, the way everyone looked at them changes. I still remember it when they first got here in the palace. James is actually the only who truly cares for them. Everyone else, including the fairies all despised them. Sychi also became their guardian because Mira asked her too. But now, the place changed. Majority of the fairies adored them, Sychi is also falling in love with them. I wont also deny it, but I liked them as well." She grinned "Both of them was just so adorable, I can't help it."
She poked his soft cheek and stared at him in curiosity. "What about you? Did your opinion about them had changed somehow?"
"Dunno, I pitied them, I guess" Meijin shrugged.
She pouted and crossed her arms and stood up, as she continues to stare at him. "So boring, I expect you to say, yeah I loved them now! Maybe they weren't that bad after all! You know, those kinds of things"
He chuckled in her statement. "Seriously, what are you expecting from me?"
But she only pouted and turned away. His face turned serious and he said to her earnestly. "Though I can't deny that they're sadly pitiful. I....I hate to admit it, but James was right. maybe I should give them a chance"
She glanced at him and asked somewhat suspiciously. "Oh? What changed your mind."
"How it feels like to be rejected by the world as you desperately cling into the only thing that loves and cares for you. Scared, knowing that only thing might disappear one day."
She looked at him and sighed. "Do actually feel that way? 'Cause I never remembered you being rejected by the world."
"You just didn't notice" he shrugged "But no one really believes that a cursed child or whatever they said about me was able to be alive after so long--actually, it wasn't that long. But like I said, I was so unnatural, more than anyone else and people despised me for it."
"Not everyone...."
"Perhaps, but wasn't that the same thing?"
"We all loved you...I know I do"
Meijin only smiled and turned to look at the water again. Shaking her head, she sat down beside him and laid her head on his shoulders and closed her eyes.
She hummed a beautiful tune and Meijin merely listened quietly. As the cool wind touches their cheeks, the melody of her song made the view even more beautiful.
"Kail," he spoke, still staring at the sight before him.
"Mmm?"
"How old exactly are you?" Kail chuckled in his question.
"You do know it's impolite to ask a lady about her age."
"Who cares" Meijin shrugged and she only giggled
"Perhaps a hundred years older than you. Why do you ask?"
"Then why are you so interested about me?"
"What a weird question, but does it really matter?" she smiled "perhaps, not..."
