Chapter 70 - Chapter 69 Nine years ago

In Rosarose mansion, James was peering out of the window from his study. He received a letter from his son, Airi that he was bringing the twins along with him. He was growing anxious.

Then suddenly, although it was far, he felt an intense magical energy coming from somewhere within the border. It was an overwhelming presence. He knew the children were in trouble.

He hastily left the study room and bumped into his wife who was just passing by his door. He gave her a hug and kissed her. He gave her a smile, and calmly said to her.

"Neon, I need to go somewhere. Airi will be sad for sure, so make sure to love him enough for me. Take care of everything in my place. I loved you."

He left. Neon tried to not to let go of his sleeve, but he merely smiled and moved her hands away.

"I'm sorry. Take care"

With that he vanished from sight in an instant. Neon could only just stare at where he disappeared from as tears silently flowed from her eyes. He was so far away now, there's no longer anything she could do about it.

The children are slowly backing away as the man inched closer to them.

"Jadus, that's enough" James appeared out of nowhere between them.

"Dad--!"

Airi was delighted to see him. However, when he saw the expression on his father's face, he was dumbfounded. James was wearing an empty smile. He appeared calm, but Airi can feel something different coming from him. One he cannot understand. He had never seen this side of him. He was scared for an unknown reason, so much that he was rendered speechless.

"Sychi" James called

Just like him, Sychi appeared immediately upon his call. With a single glance from him, she nodded.

"James, what a pleasant surprise this is," he smirked "but I suggest you stay out of my way." Said Jadus.

James merely smiled at him before calmly giving him a warning. "Are you planning to start a war between the Jade and Enchanted Empire? 'Cause if you do, there are a lot of ways to do so other than slaughtering these helpless children."

Jadus sneered. "I'm no longer a jade. I 'am merely saving the world by exterminating the threat that might destroy it forever. So, you better get out of my way."

"No"

Unlike James who remained calm with his empty smile on his face, Jadus frowned in his reply.

"You really disgust me" he spat

James raised an eye brow and said to him still with his emotionless smile.

"Oh? Do you really hate us that much?"

"you are all delusional, just like her; she really is your sister, isn't she?" He replied in utter disgust

James was outraged. "Don't you dare speak of her that way!"

Jadus sniggered. "You probably don't know what happened that day. Very well, I'll tell you." He then begun to explain what he witnessed that day, on the day of crimson skies.

"After giving birth to her twins, she sent all the servants and butlers to a day off. She even sent her own husband away to face death. With all of them gone, and her brothers on the guild gathering, and even Jen gone, she was left alone in the mansion. That was when I arrived. And just like you, she faced me with that same dammed face!"

A vision of his past appeared on his mind. Amira Rosarose was there standing in front of him with only the thin curtains being flown by the wind separating them. She was very beautiful, her flowy blonde hair and its pink tips where making her rose-gold eyes shown even prettier. Her rosy lips curved into a smile, though her seemingly calm emotion didn't reach her eyes as it looked empty. Two infants were there sleeping cozily behind her, they were so young yet innocently beautiful.

The beautiful sight seemed to have darkened as she turned around and raised her hand. When Jadus realized what she was doing, he immediately strode toward to stop her. Alas, he was too late. When he reached her, she already finished the spell and a pink barrier was surrounding the still asleep twin babies.

He looked at her with utter bewilderment and panic. He doesn't understand why she was protecting them. But seeing the look on his face, she only smiled at him. She leaned closer to his ear and whispered with her soft and charming voice.

"You aren't going to kill them. I won't let you"

He stared at her and his grip on her wrist slightly loosened. She took that opportunity to get free from his grasp and performed another spell. A blood written magic circle that she prepared beforehand became visible. She quietly muttered some enchantments as her lips moved soundlessly. Desperate, he tried to stop her again but the spell was protecting its caster that unabled him to approach her. He can only watch helplessly as she finished her enchantment.

After the red lights went off, she fell but he caught her just on time before she fell on the floor. She was weakened, she can barely move and was vomiting blood, yet she maintained her smile.

Not understanding anything, he asked her in confusion. "What are you doing this for? What could you possibly gain to give up your life like this? Why even bother protecting the reason for the end of this world?"

He's gaze was strictly on to her, silently demanding some answers. With her remaining strength, she lifted her hand and touched his cheek.

"You will never understand. But I, no we strive to change the fate of this world. But these children deserve to live and be happy just like any other. They might suffer a lot in their life, but I shall not allow you to take away the joy they may feel as well."

He continued to stare at her as he didn't get the logic in what she said. Did she really loved her children that much to go his far? Is her love as a mother that strong?

She moved her hand that was holding his cheek and held one of her children's hand. It was so small and soft. It was so delicate that it was so heart breaking to think of what they may experience in the future. But she strengthened her resolve and gave all her remaining life-force to them while she thought that no matter how harsh fate and reality can be, the world is still beautiful and there are a lot of good things in it. She wanted to watch them grow, she wanted to be there for them and dote them, she wanted to live more than anything else with her beloved children. But there are always things that are more important, she may die in regret, but she will watch and guide them forever.

As jadus watched her to slowly loose life, he can't do anything about it as she refused to listen. Either way, it was already late right from the beginning she used magic.

As she died with tears flowing from her eyes, Jadus lifted her and laid her right beside of the twins. He may not be able to do what he must now, but he will surely come back in the future.

Remembering all that, Jadus was certainly pissed. He just can't understand why they would go this far on false hope. There was certainly no way to alter fate. And unlike most, the fate of these children was already decided, written in history, that will happen once again after a million years.

"She was delusional! Extremely delusional! Just like you, she protected those monsters that will eventually destroy the world once again" he glared at the children, but James covered them out of his sight. "I'm sick of it. And you know what? She committed suicide. Due to her frail body, she was unallowed to use magic otherwise she might die and even her immortality won't be able to prevent. Even so she casted an enchantment that will protect them from harm and even sealed their infinite magic and identities as roses. I helped her, I tried to help her and I told her to stop but she didn't listen! She killed herself anyway and merged her remaining life force with those monsters. And after that, all her responsibilities as the chosen princess of both the twin palaces of Enchanted and Life were passed down to her children, and her responsibility as the heir of the Darkrose to her younger sibling."

"Jadus, I believed so that you said enough. And don't call these children monsters."

"Why not? Isn't that what they are?"

"They didn't choose to be born like this. No matter what other people call them, they are still children who was clinging to every bit they can."
