Previously, while the tree of them were together in Kira's room. Kira was asleep because exhaustion she suffered after the duel the twins had with Airi and Red.
Kishi was reading a book and so is Airi. An idea popped into Airi's mind. He looked at him and said,
"Kish, want to visit the Rose territory?"
Kishi simply looked at him, "Why would I be interested?" he said flatly
"Let's go Rose mountains this weekend, I'm sure mom and dad would be happy to have both of you" Airi ignored him. Kishi's already used to this though. No one in the school nor even his own sister respects his feelings.
"Why invite us so suddenly?" Kishi asked him
"Mmm...." Airi looked back down at his book and started flipping through the pages. "No reason" he half denied.
He couldn't understand himself either. He had this eerie feeling and was seeking companion. He felt somewhat terrified, and uneasy. He could have asked anyone from the class, but he chose the two of them instead. Maybe it's because Airi was sure that the two of them will be there for him without any question, or perhaps they will go with him either way whether he told them the truth or not. As of why, he didn't know.
And so, the three of them went to the Rose's territory at Friday evening. Using teleportation crystals, they arrived at a beautiful village filled with roses.
At the exact center of the village, it seems as if a line was dividing two parts of the place. The left was all black and even the people there are wearing moody colors, and most are either crying or depressed. The right side was all pink and bright. Happy sweet couples are hugging and clinging into each other, while eating sweets. It was a happy and romantic place, unlike the other side which was gloomy.
"We're at Valentine village." Airi told them "This village is in the outskirts of both the Darkrose and Rosarose's territory. Once we completely entered the border, you won't be seeing anymore black roses, so enjoy it while you still can"
The twins then glared at him. "It's way to sad, how are we supposed to enjoy it? It can't believe I was even born here" Kishi said bitterly
"What'd ya expect? Black roses meant goodbyes you know." Airi explained to them. "But don't worry, this gloom is forbidden in the city, the capital I mean. Elders said that Darkrose is a very dark place before as it sounds like. But when grandpa ruled over, he completely changed the place. He said that goodbyes aren't meant to be sad, you just have to find good things about it."
He looked at the left side and said with a cheerful smile "Look at them, they are the ones who said goodbye to their love ones. They are sad because that goodbye was hard and they value what's happened after they said hello and now that they said goodbye. It's not like it's the end, they just opened a new door, a new life"
I don't believe you can say it that easily once you really felt what it was like. I also doubt you can move on that easily. Kishi thought as he looks at him. Deep within his eyes, he felt pity for Airi. He lowered his guard far too much that it could back fire at him anytime. He wouldn't understand that, not when he actually realized what it felt like.
Kira inched closer to him and gave him a stare. She actually saw right through him. He didn't even know when two of them made eye contact.
Nisan...Airi might end up broken one day, but promise me that the two of us will be there for him when it happened, okay?
The three of then wandered around before leaving. They ate ice creams, had cotton candies, and ate puddings. Airi also thought them how to make a beautiful bouquet of roses.
After they left the village, they journeyed across the path surrounded with hedges of rose. Airi was right when he said that the whole territory of the Rosarose's is all but nothing except pink roses. Everywhere they looked was all roses. Even during winter there was no snow and even looked so fresh like spring.
"There's no snow" Kira said in astonishment
"It rarely snows here, most of the year were either summer or spring" Airi replied
Looking at the mountains ahead, Kishi asked. "Are we really going to walk all the way?"
"This is nothing like the Enchanted palace" Airi told him
After giving it some thought, Kishi realized something. "Don't tell me that you intentionally took us in that village to get revenge on what I did to you back then?"
Airi smirked "What you do is what you get, idiot"
"Why? What did you do?" Kira looked at him; bewildered
"Nothing you need to know sister, nothing you need to know" Airi replied
After quite some time, they reached a forest. I was just a normal forest with trees and everything, but majority of its plants were all still roses.
The forest was filled with thick trees and mostly blocked the sunlight. They are walking through a path and vines of rose covered the ground.
The boys were bickering as they walk. Kira on the other hand heard light rustlings even though there weren't any wind. She ignored it at first. It must have been just a random animal. However, she heard it yet again. She halted her steps and looked at the dark forest.
The boys then noticed that she stopped. They looked at her and ceased their quarrel.
"Kira, what's wrong?" Kishi asked her in concern of her troubled look.
Kira merely stared at them before slowly lifting her hand and pointed slightly upward to the forest direction. Confused, both Airi and Kishi looked at where she was pointing.
Kishi's eyes widened in an instant. He wasn't paying any attention earlier, so he didn't notice anything. He hasn't felt this vulnerable before.
Airi however, didn't understand what was going on "What are you pointing at--?!"
"Shut your mouth!!" Kishi hissed him in panic. "Damn it! Run!" He tightly held Kira's wrist and ran. Airi was still confused but he decided to just follow them anyway.
Unfortunately, a strong figure stood a head of them, making them stop on their tracks. He was a man with jade colored hair and eyes. He emits such strong presence now than he previously were while tailing them. The air that surrounds him were cold really cold. It was deeply frightening, so much that the three of them could not help but tremble in its presence. He came there with an intent to kill.
He stared at them with ice cold eyes, seeming as if he would devour them anytime. His voice was deep and cold, it was also frightening when he spoke to them.
"Where do you think you're going?" he asked "I couldn't just let you go now, could I?"
Kira shrank behind her brother who's also barely able to keep himself up. She held his sleeves tightly as her hands trembled violently. Tears also started to well up in her eyes, though she kept herself from making a sound while biting her lips.
The boys aren't also doing any good. The air was so suffocating that they could hardly breathe. Just like her, both of them were quivering, tears of perspiration covered their faces.
The man in front of them was overly terrifying. He was obviously strong that his magical energy was like strangling them. Even if together they combined their powers, they were sure to stand no chance against him. They were also petrified and their limbs were numb that running away was not an option. Even if they did manage to make their arms and legs move and ran away, the man will catch up to them without much effort and slaughtered them in blink of an eye.
Meanwhile, in Rosarose mansion, James was peering out of the window from his study. He received a letter from his son, Airi that he was bringing the twins along with him. He was growing anxious.
Then suddenly, although it was far, he felt an intense magical energy coming from somewhere within the border. It was an overwhelming presence. He knew the children were in trouble.
