"You've been here for almost half a year already, are you not planning to go back home?" the person in white coat asked.
"Nah~ I've never been this idle before so I'm enjoying this moment of my life." the lady with a blue eyes said.
"Yeah right, you enjoyed not having one of your limbs, so~ gratifying. Tch."
She laughed at her friend's sarcastic remark, well she wasn't lying either, her dominant arm was amputated due to a fortuitous event half a year ago.
"C'mon, don't be such a bore, Miss Modernday Frankenstein needs some rest too haha~"
"Von Eirene, bionic arms needs a full attention of the maker. One mistake can lead to an accident to a user's body and nerves."
"It must be made from a strong and durable but lightweight material like carbon fiber, then cover it with foam padding for comfort. I should also study the weight of your prosthetic limb as to not compromise the quality over comfort. I should also work unto the technology to give you a more human-like arm. I must acquire that system. Tsk, thinking only makes me cringe. This facility won't do much so we need to hurry up. Special sensors are to be placed to detect tiny natural generated signals on your muscles and convert it into intuitive and proportional bionic hand movement. And also..."
"Stop! Stop! Stoooooop!!! I'm just an ordinary human with an ordinary mind and ordinary understanding. Please no jargons. My eyes are already swirling in confusion. And please you don't need to tell me these things, I have confidence in your works."
"You're giving me too much credit. I need some of your inputs for my further research."
"Sure I am haha.. Whose name was on line again for this project?"
"Heh~"
The woman arrogantly lifts her head and pushes up her eyeglasses most cool guys do and smirks smugly. "Please note that I am not an engineer nor a surgeon."
"Look whose being humble all of a sudden, we all know what you are capable of. If I had not known you for the longest time, I might take you as an ordinary psychologist."
"You are really too much to handle Von Eirene."
"Ah a~ It's Eirene only ma' friend. Von is off-duty."
"Whatever. Just keep yourself busy and don't loiter around the facility."
"Yeah yeah haha~ such a worrywart."
As she got off from her seat, she suddenly thought of sharing something to her friend.
"By the way Harlock, I met the kid we saved in the District Alley."
"Oh~ What kid?"
"The one you called Ugly Duckling?" she was embarrassed to even say her friend's nickname to the poor kid. He was just a duckling not ugly but she couldn't deny that he looks so ugly at that time due to blood and mud. Just remembering it makes her heart ached for him as she knows that it wasn't the only time he experience that. There were scars, both old and new on his body.
Just what kind of people would do that to a kid.
"I run some investigation for that kid, and he was not really a kid. Just a young man with a really skinny body and poor health."
"Huh? Then ...he's on the same age as us?"
"Yeah, he was just uh....puny."
"Hey! That's already an insult!"
"I just described him. What's wrong with that?"
"Describing and insulting are two different words. You need to expand your vocabulary terms Harlock. You might offend a lot of people for your choice of words."
"Okay. Noted with thanks."
Harlock seems agreeing to her suggestion but in reality she was not even considering it. Poor Eirene.
