No one spoke. There was nothing to say. Haru's fist clenched just by the mere sight of Guiren, the traitor. He couldn't believe that the latter would make such a stupid and irrational move without thinking of the outcome.
How could he side the woman that pushed his wife? was it the refined look of innocence she plastered on her face? She was so good in acting but he didn't believe she'd play her cards and tricks so well despite having a conscious mind.
"step aside" Haru was filled with bitterness that he couldn't have control of. Meilin was still crying in the back, she didn't know what to do. Would she go home to her kids that day? She was sure she'd be charged for violence and might not be granted bail.
"I'm sorry Mr yang but I can't" It took Haru a while to comprehend what the man was saying. It was strange, his ponders didn't stop on why he was siding a fugitive. A two faced woman.
"Wait don't tell me you're sleeping with her? is that why you're siding her? Do you think this is real love?" he muttered with mocking amusement but his eyes were still teary "Is this what you've become Meilin?" His voice fell into a cracked whisper after all the yelling "Two years gone and this is what you've been doing?" he turned to face Guiren.
"Are you going to allow yourself be defeated by what you think is love?" Haru found it hard and disappointing to believe that a man older than him would be trapped in chains a woman like Meilin planned out.
"Haru please" She took a step forward hoping she'd find a way to talk to him, even if she was timed.
"Don't come close" She didn't take another step after his command.
"Get out. The both of you" Haru said then headed for Ai Jin's room. His affections were betrayed and the woman he loved so dearly left his heart shattered.
He was going to find a way to make things work with his Meilin even though his child wasn't hers. But now, he regrets the time he spent planning and daydreaming about a perfect life with her.
He was a man but he was fragile. The impact from Meilin's blow shattered him completely and it was close to impossible to reverse it.
The bond he thought they had, even after he'd been in her, felt her like the beating of his own heart and interlocked his soul with hers the same way they did with their fingers.
What a lie. His heart was broken beyond mortal repair and it contributed to his new thoughts about love. A scam, dilemma he once believed in. His heartache would serve as a teacher and a reason to ask Ai jin for forgiveness.
Meilin was in Guiren's car. Silence hung in the air with clouds of gaping void paralyzing them from speaking as the two focused on what they were occupied with. In that case, meilin had nothing to do but suffer the aftermath of the tears while Guiren kept his eyes peeled on the road as the silence stretched thinner and thinner as time went on.
The last time he had her buckled up in his car, they actually spoke on diverse topics, had comedic moments and flashed smiles here and there but times changed.
He took her home. Her kids were with her neighbor and she wasn't going to pick them up anytime soon. She sat on her sofa, head lowered as she looked at her feet.
With a sigh, Guiren sat beside her. His shoulders relaxed and he held the hand of the woman he adored. Her gaze was still fixed at her feet. He could tell she had no clue of how his fingers stroked her soft hands and he moved a bit closer to embrace her.
"It's okay" he wrapped an arm around her shoulder and drew her close. Despite the turning feeling she had in her stomach after what took place at the hospital, she couldn't help but sink into the warmth of his side.
He wanted to reach into her heart and let her know he'd always be there for her even if he didn't have a reason to. He always knew she had pain on her inside, secrets she locked up but now it's visible on her face. She had a story, but the question was if she was willing to share.
"Why do you have faith in me?"
He didn't answer. He just smiled at her and she found it offensive. She shoved him away then ran to her bedroom where she slammed the door and made sure she locked him out.
"Meilin..."
"Go away!" She screamed then turned her attention to her bed where she cocooned in her duvet and started to cry again.
Time passed and she didn't hear a sound again. She wondered if he left. "No" She softly said. She didn't want to be alone, she needed someone her age, someone she could talk to to be around.
She couldn't deny the fact that in that short period of time where his arm was wrapped around her shoulder she felt the depressing pain go away. That's why she wanted him to stay. She didn't have control of her words, she let her emotions take over her speech and regretted yelling at him.
She looked around the house for him and didn't find a single soul anywhere. She slowly turned back for her bedroom to bury herself into her blanket again and wait for the cops to raid her house.
She had an idea on how she'd not get into police custody. She jotted a letter in her notepad and took it along with her to the kitchen.
Guiren carried the kids back to the house. He went straight to Meilin's room but didn't find her there. He called her name countless times but he didn't find her in any of the rooms and bathrooms. Last place he had to check was the kitchen before he goes to look for her somewhere outside.
Thoughts on why she'd be playing hide and seek arose in his mind as he pushed open the kitchen door.
She dropped the knife as soon as guiren walked in and she got off the kitchen cabinet pretending like she wasn't doing anything to herself a moment ago.
She tucked her hair behind her ear and cleared her throat "Welcome" she said unsteadily backing away as he approached her.
he picked up the knife on the floor and showed her the fresh blood stains "Meilin...what were you planning to do?"
