"What are we doing?" Bullet asked while him and Duan Cai walked along the streets of the city.
"Adventuring~!" Duan Cai smiled as he looked around the city after giving a simple answer to quiet down the questioning. It was true that he had no set destination in his mind, but he did have something he was looking for. There was no way he was ready to say anything about what it was yet towards Bullet because he preferred to keep it to himself for now.
"I can see why Leon gets annoyed with you all the time." Bullet scoffed as he looked in a different direction. It felt like he was a dog being taken out for a walk from the way he was treated by Duan Cai. There was nothing he could do the change his situation at the moment so he had to endure every bit of it.
"Heheh." A slight laugh escaped Duan Cai at those words.
"Gahhh!"
Bullet and Duan Cai's attention was both pulled in the direction of a woman's shriek. From where they were standing they could clearly make out the view of a woman dressed up in a casual outfit with long brown hair. She looked frightened as she was hiding behind Lester from another man who was shouting at her. The man looked annoyed as he was clearly trying to pressure the woman into going with him while Lester was trying to confront the man.
"Isn't that your yang boy?" Bullet asked in an uninterested tone. "Shouldn't you intervene?"
"It's not my problem." Duan Cai stated as he shook his head. He was not interested in mortal conflicts that did not involve him personally.
"Dude.. Ain't he suppose to be friends with you?" Bullet was puzzled at why Duan Cai had no interest to step in for someone that he personally knew. Lester worked so hard for him out of loyalty and yet when facing a guy who did not want to let up after a girl Duan Cai was not interested in helping Lester out with the problem. Did he not feel a thing when seeing Lester struggling to solve the problem?
"Friend?" Duan Cai thought over the word for a moment. He wondered if that was what Lester was considered by a mortal's viewpoint. The only thing he understood was that he found the man interesting in a way. If Lester was not interesting to him than what other reason would he have to keep him close by. Unless Duan Cai felt he got something out of another being around him there was no other reason for someone to be close by. What it meant to have someone considered a friend to Duan Cai was something he could not comprehend and yet the slight thought of it intrigued him when it was mentioned.
"Forget it!" Bullet creased his brows as he looked in a different direction to try and get his mind off of it. For a moment he had felt as though he was talking to a brick wall.
They could clearly see the view of the rogue man suddenly going after Lester. Lester was able to brush the man off easily because he was a simple piece of scum who had no real cultivation to attack with. It was clear the man was not a cultivator at all and was simply trash who had wanted to pressure the woman. Lester was not the type of man to kill someone unless he had to, however so he was careful with his own movements when he fought back against the man to not end his life. It was clear to Duan Cai that Lester was still holding onto his own notions towards life being precious.
"Lester, if you're going to step in and protect a damsel shouldn't you actually get rid of the weak trash?" Bullet shouted from where he and Duan Cai were standing.
"Just because someone is weak doesn't make them insignificant! He's just a normal person and not a cultivator so the authorities can take care of him." Lester glared at Bullet for insinuating that the man should die.
"That's not what I meant." Bullet glared down at the man who was now shaking on the ground with rage at Lester for getting in his way to obtain the woman.
The man being the underhanded type that he was quickly rose to his feet in silence behind Lester and the woman. A gun was quickly pulled from his pocket as he aimed towards Lester's back with a look on his face as if he had truly gone mad.
"Lester-!" Bullet was quick to shout but before he could continue or even move he was cut off by Duan Cai.
Duan Cai's body seemed to move at light speed across the cement ground leaving nothing but delayed images of himself. In the mere moment that it would take a person to blink Duan Cai's hand was already tightly grasping the man by his face. A fiery rage seemed to be flaring in his gaze as his eyes connected with the man's who was within his grasp.
"Suddenly your face really pisses me off." Duan Cai whispered by the man's ear with a deathly tone that caused the man to shudder. "I never gave permission to touch what's mine."
With swift movements the hand that was grasping so tightly to the man's face launched the man backwards. His body was sent flying across the street until it collided against the wall of a local building. He never did glance to see what the building was, but the motion was so violent and swift that nobody could look away from the scene for what felt like a while. The once smiling Duan Cai had snapped again and it was something that made Bullet easily remember his meeting with Duan Cai. They could even hear the rumbling sound coming from Duan Cai as if someone had enraged a wild beast. He had so easily went from a smiling and carefree man to someone who had just sent a mortal flying with his mere hand for pointing a weapon towards one of his followers.
"We should leave!" Bullet shouted as he tried to shake himself back to reality. There was bound to be a lot of onlookers and cameras soon if they did not get away from the situation it would be bad for them all. There was nothing local police could do about a cultivator, but a cultivator still did not want to be publicly shown in a bad way for all over cultivators hidden among society to know about. The fact that Duan Cai had just killed a normal man by sending him flying to his death by smashing into a building was something that would clearly get attention from other cultivators if they caught wind of it.
Even as the words left Bullet's mouth his eyes landed on Duan Cai who was still standing still as a statue. There was a slight flicker or something deep in Bullet's instincts that were screaming at him that something was wrong.
