Duan Cai stood there with his eyes pinned in the direction of the man that he sent flying to his death a moment ago. It did not matter who tried to talk to him from behind because he could not register a word that anyone said to him. Internally it felt like his blood was boiling him from the inside out and it felt like he could sense someone near by that put him on edge. It was who he had been searching for the past months and they had come for him while he had his guard down. He knew in his past life that he could never be caught off guard, but he had this time. For a brief moment he blamed the fact that he had been caught off guard on the fact that he now had a mortal body and it was probably interfering with his concentration capabilities.
"The day that you loose your temper.. I never thought I would get to see that day happen." A voice called out from above. A pair of golden eyes were dead locked on Duan Cai where he stood as the figure stepped off of the building.
THUMP!
Saigai landed on his feet just off to the side from where Duan Cai stood. He held and air about him that could easily send chills down a person's spine from the look in his eyes. His body was dressed in his usual black while he had a hood pulled over his head. There was no killing intent coming from him but that did not stop him from causing others to shudder including Bullet who was usually composed when in front of another.
"What are you doing here, Saigai?" As much as Duan Cai wanted to track the man down he knew the fact that Saigai was willing to come to him of his own accord could not be taken lightly. He had known the man for thousands of years and felt there was something more to his approach.
"I can't simply visit my 'brother' without having a hidden agenda? It's not like we're strangers after all that we've been through together." Saigai's eyes narrowed at Duan Cai as he spat the words with a sense of disgust. It was as if the very words made the man feel very unclean to be spoken from his own lips and yet he spat them out regardless.
"Get to the point, Saigai.. What do you want?" Duan Cai's voice seemed to break into a new cord. At that moment it was like listening to two voices in sync with each other. One sounded calm and regular while the other behind Duan Cai's voice was rough and inhuman. It was like listening to a wild beast.
"Want? What Do I want?" Saigai's eyes slightly widened for a second at the question before he broke into a laugh. His hand sliding over his face as he tilted his head back before answering the question. "How about you suffering an endless torture like I've had to endure all these years!"
"You can't be serious.." Duan Cai sighed to himself at the sight of Saigai before him. His eyes were exuding a soft golden glow as they began to slit reptilian style. Gazing at the man with a calm temper he tried to access the situation carefully.
"Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to kill you yet.. You don't deserve to die so soon." Saigai smiled brightly as if he was delighted at what was running through his mind as his eyes swept over Bullet, Lester, and the woman that Lester had just helped.
Duan Cai slowly paced himself to stand in front of Saigai's view of the others. He was not sure what the man was thinking but by the look on his face he was not too pleased with it. There was no certainty that what he felt towards the others under him were emotional attachment but he knew himself well enough to know he was not willing to let Saigai do as he pleased with what he felt was his. Duan Cai was the possessive type when he felt something belonged to him he was not willing to allow Saigai to sully his things as he pleased.
"Leave them out of it, Saigai." Duan Cai bluntly ordered with a heavy weight to his tone.
Saigai began to pull back the hood that covered his head. His black and golden eyes glaring intently at Duan Cai with something hidden in his expression. They could both hear the slight confused gasps at Saigai's appearance as Saigai's single red horn was extending from his forehead and tilting backwards over the center of his head, as it always did in his half human form. He had retained his own body after the fall and therefore his signature draconic horn was something that he naturally had when he used his half human form. To humans it was something beyond their knowledge but for Duan Cai and Saigai a draconic horn was a symbol of their bloodline and power.
"When you dragged me down with you everyone in this city became involved. They are mere pawns in our game of chess.." Saigai slowly took a few steps towards Duan Cai as he leaned in close to his ear before his final words. "But I think you just lost a couple of your game pieces."
"You.." Duan Cai grit his teeth as he could not understand his own sudden rise of emotions in that moment. Was he suddenly feeling furious about Saigai's words? He tried to calm himself down as he spoke back. "What did you do?"
"I told you I am not here to kill you.. I never said I wasn't simply going to delay your focus while my own pawn does his thing on the game board." Saigai sighed to himself as he turned to leave with a smirk on his face.
"What did you do, Saigai?!" Duan Cai shouted the question out again with a more firm tone. He was determined to find out what the man had done.
"I'll see you around, brother." Saigai scoffed out a slight laugh before quickly fleeing from Duan Cai's sight. The way that he spat out his words made a sudden dread wash over Duan Cai as he could only receive a bad feeling.
