Chapter 32 - Hiding in the Shadows

Somewhere in an abandoned warehouse stood a tall woman smoking a cigar. She stood in front of a bulletin map while analyzing her next plan. There were multiple pins embedded into the map, previous locations of raided Gem Shops. She smirked underneath her black bowler hat before hearing footsteps behind.

"Roman, what are you doing awake at such late hours?" a male voice spoke. He was Roman's second in command.

Roman turned around to face the man. Her figure revealed underneath the dimly lit lamp above. She has a lovely body with bright, long, orange hair, along with long bangs covering her right eye. Her eyes glowing a bright green like emeralds. While wearing a red-lined white suit with long black pants and black shoes. Roman's accessories included a small gray scarf, black gloves with buckled sleeves, and a black bowler hat with a small feather tucked into its red band. She holds a gray cane, white at the top, and red at the bottom. Roman smiled before saying in a seductive tone, "I'm just planning my next attack, why don't you help me?"

The man sighed before walking over and looked at the map. So far, their group had raided every Gem store possible in the kingdom, yet they were still left in the dark. He pointed his finger at an abandoned city that was once under construction. "There's an underground railroad track we can use. We can cause use this to cause panic in the people, give the people false hope about their stupid kingdom."

Roman smiled before wrapping her arms around the man's neck. She made a seductive smile before planting a kiss on the man's cheek. "Such a strong man, Louis. I'm glad I got you, you can satisfy me in so many ways."

Louis didn't say anything and lifted Roman's legs over his hip. He knew what kind of person Roman was. She was a cunning, smart, swift, and evil; she the kind of woman that wants to bring down the world to her knee. And he will be there, right at her side. Louis made sure to answer all of Roman's calls, he worked his best, and he was rewarded.

"You two should be in bed if you want to do activities like that," a voice echoed their direction.

Roman sighed before staring at the railing connected to another warehouse. There stood a woman with an aloof expression. She wore a red dress that reaches down to her knees with slits along her thigh. She somehow was able to wear heel like they were nothing. Her face was concealed by the poorly lit room; however, her bright golden-red eyes pierced through the shadow's veil.

"What do you want, Cinder?" Roman said in an annoyed tone. She removed her hands from Louis and stared at the woman. ("Such an idiot woman. Thinking she can boss me like a pawn. Tsk, I'll show her something.")

Louis released Roman as he stares silently at the map. He wanted to make sure that the underground railroad will actually work. He keeps getting a suspicious feeling about going there, but he couldn't figure it out. Louis used his Semblance before sensing an ominous presence in the building. He turned around to see two figures cloaked in black holding Roman and Cinder.

Louis growled at the thought of someone else touching his boss. He charged at the two figures only to realize he was stopped in his tracks. He looked down only to see some sort of Mana chains wrapped tightly around his ankles. Louis then felt two other chains trying to wrap his wrist down.

"Enough, we got what we needed," one of the cloaked people said before both of them disappeared like nothing happened.

Roman, Cinder, and Louis were all released from their confinement. Roman sighed before smirking in her head. Cinder rubbed her wrists before staring coldly at Roman and Louis, "Sleep or you won't get your pay."

Roman rolled her eyes before motioning Louis to follow her. Cinder watched as the two walked away. Once the duo was gone, she took a look at the map and noticed a small note on the side. She took it off the pin that hung it and read it, "Remember October 31, XXXX."

Cinder tilted her head before feeling someone was behind her. She activated her powers and turned only to see Roman with a death glare. She held her hand out and motioned to give the note. Cinder was a bit reluctant before handing the note to Roman. Roman tightened her grip on Cinder's hand and said while Cinder walked away, "Don't look through my past, and I won't look through yours. Clear?"

Cinder snorted before trying to remove her hand only to see Roman was dead serious about her words. Cinder shrugged and agreed. Once Roman removed her hand, she left. Roman stared at Cinder's backside and scoffed. She then smiled to herself since she was able to get the identity of one of their attackers. However, Roman was a bit confused as to why they released them. It would have been an easy payment for the two. So, why did they release them?

Roman shook her head and walked into the next warehouse, where she could sleep next to Louis's muscular body. Little did she notice was a pair of eyes tracking Roman's eyes.

--------------------------------------------------

Ruby stood on the balcony of her room. She enjoyed the fall wind, it was almost October, and she wanted to give Ivy a bit of fun. Though, Ruby didn't know if Ivy ever had a Halloween before. Thinking that she didn't, Ruby decided to make it a surprise to Ivy. Smiling to herself, Ruby left her balcony and went to see if Ivy was in the courtyard only to hear a crash in her bedroom. She immediately turns around to witness two people: one was a man with a muscular body, and another was a woman with an attractive body.

"So you're the princess, fufu," the woman said before ordering the man charge Ruby and pin her to the ground. The shocking speed surprised Ruby as she didn't have time to call for help. The woman approached Ruby and revealed an ominous smile. "It is truly unfortunate that you're the princess, but I need some information on a certain someone."

The woman pulled out a picture of two cloaked figures, the lighting was awful, and barely anything could be seen. However, there were two pairs of familiar eyes. In the midst of her struggles, Ruby froze when the first thought of those eyes came to mind.

Ivy.

The woman smiled as she saw the broken expression on Ruby's face. She giggled in her mind as she was about to ask the princess something. However, before a vocal even rubbed against each other, the woman was tackled to the ground. Ruby looked up and saw Ivy with an evil glint in her eyes. She held the woman with a knife to the neck.

"Release," Ivy said in a growl. She immediately noticed the woman and growled in her head. She quickly leaned in and whispered, "We'll talk later."

The man growled and released Ruby only to be restrained by her Semblance. He glared at Ruby with a death glare, which made the girl frighten, loosening the grip around his body. Ruby fell to the ground in shock. The man snorted before continuing his charge at Ivy only to feel the impact of a metal pole against to stomach. Ivy quickly made it seem like the woman teleported the two out of the room, leaving the broken glass around Ruby's floor.

Ruby stared at the ground. She actually got scared and let the criminals go. They even got Ivy. Ruby started to hyperventilate before realizing something, those two criminals were one of the most worldwide thugs. She was still in shock, but Ruby was able to move herself into her father's office.

Ruby stood at the entrance of her father's door before knocking. She was nervous and scared. Although her father tries to hide it, she could tell that her father has a high interest in Ivy. Simply losing her is causing a bit of a problem.

"Come in."
