I was so terribly exhausted after the battle that I was in a coma for four days. And in those four days the country changed for the worse.
With so many convicts on the lose, crime was at the highest ever since the dark era of quirks, when All for One reigned supreme. Villains prawled on the streets attacking innocent civilians at their whims.
Such rise in crime also caused a rise in vigilantism.
Local groups had risen to arms against the villains to defend their localities. Their trust in heroes had waned drastically. It was because of Dabi who had revealed the corruption of the Hero Public Safety Comission after hijacking a broadcasting station and the failure of heroes in stopping the villains in time.
All the while the villains caused mayhem, Shigaraki and All for One were no where to be found.
The police was helpless and the 'Hero Public Safety Comission' was practically defunct from a secret villain attack on the building. Almost all of the employees were killed and the building was destroyed.
With no HPSC to delegate matters, we had no way of receiving foreign aid as there was no one to do the necessary paperwork and had the authority.
We were on our own.
Our curriculum at U.A. became a lot more practical oriented. Improving our quirks and learning how to fight became the priority.
U.A. had also become a safe haven for civilian refugees from all over Japan as entire cities were being ravaged by the madness of the villains.
We were losing the country to them.
Anarchy was the new norm.
The rise in crime was beginning to deteriorate the will of heroes. Every other day, a hero would retire from the burden, losing their motivation and their spirit.
Japan was no longer a safe place to live in.
Three long months...
For three long months we fought continuously to protect the civilians and capture the villains to send them back to their prisons. An upside of that was the huge increase in my strength and abilities. Silver linings. We thought that with U.A. being converted to a stronghold, no villain would dare to attack it.
Until, Chisaki arrived at our doors.
I sensed him coming from miles away.
'Aizawa-sensei.'
'Midoriya?'
'Is our surveillance system working?'
'Why do you ask?'
'Chisaki is on the way here, along with thirty other villains.'
'What?!'
As Aizawa rushed to mobilize the heroes to get ready and defend U.A., I focused on Eri.
I was with Eri when I sensed his presence. I looked at the little girl who, for the first time in her life, was living the happiest ever since she activated her quirk.
I could not see her smile disappear.
"Eri-chan?"
She looked up from her toys and stared at me with her big, innocent eyes and asked, "Yes? Izu onii-chan?"
I ruffled her hair and said with a smile, "I just remembered. I forgot to do an errand for Aizawa-sensei. Sorry, Eri-chan. Stay with Shinso, alright? I'll come back after I'm done."
"Umu!"
I looked at Shinso and said telepathically, 'Chisaki is coming here. For her. Keep an eye on her and keep her safe. Don't let her know about Chisaki. That son of a bitch is going back to prison today. I'll fucking make it sure.'
Shinso frowned and it seemed that he wanted to object, but, after seeing my face, he relented and nodded in reply.
I calmly walk out of the room and used 'Will of Observation'. Chisaki was the gates and had just destroyed them using his quirk.
'Who needs surveillance when you have me.'
The villains couldn't take one step inside the grounds of U.A. before they were violently pushed back by an invisible force. Chisaki seemed to be prepared as he immediately deconstructed the thirty villains and incorporated then in his body. The civilians were panicking, no, they were downright terrified at Chisaki's savagery and were about to run when I teleported in between them and the villains.
"Chisaki! Was the beatdown last time not enough?!"
"Emerald Knight!!"
Before he could lay his hand on the ground and cause a massacre, I blasted him with 'Conqueror's will'. The force sent him smashing into the abandoned buildings near U.A..
That's when the rest of the heroes arrived at the gates.
When they were about to go ahead, I looked back at them and said, "Leave him to me."
I didn't wait for them and shot towards Chisaki.
The battle at Jaku city and the subsequent fights I had with the villains had tampered my emotions. My anger was a lot less volatile, my aggression was had subsided and my will had matured.
I didn't need to engage in a battle with Chisaki. Using 'Conqueror's will', I pushed him down with a force strong enough to cave the ground in.
Chisaki screamed and struggled to free himself but to no avail.
I raised my hand high as I looked impassively at him. As I brought my hand down, a gargantuan fist decended from the heavens and exploded into Chisaki, devastating everything around him.
'Hammer of Wrath.'
That was it. Chisaki Kai, the leader of Shie Hassaikai, a man who once ruled over the drug network in the country and threatened the freedom of the civilians lay defeated in one single move.
'I know you are watching, All for One and Shigaraki Tomura. Count your days of freedom, for they aren't many. Judgement is soon coming your way.'
(BNHA)
As my silhouette shone bright up in the sky, defiant against the dangers that would befall upon them with my head held high, the heroes and the civilians were wonderstruck. Shining bright in the darkest of times, I had shown them my might.
"Eraser, are we even qualified to teach him anything?"
"Mic, it does not matter how strong he gets, he will remain our student. There's always something to learn. We not only teach our students, but, we also learn from them."
Gran Torino then said to All Might, "He's grown a lot since the day he came to my house for internship. His back inspires confidence in me, hope for a happier future. Yet, he terrifies me for what he can and will do to the villains."
All Might had a brilliant smile on his face when he said, "Yeah, he does, sensei. Young Midoriya, you have finally surpassed me."
It was the beginning of the era of 'Emerald Knight'.
