Scott McBaran's POV
"Breathe, mate. You have to breathe," Conall said as I was looking at the door. It was closing and I know that Karla was on the other side of the door.
"What if she doesn't walk out of that door, mate? What if she runs away again?" I asked Conall before the duke was smirking at me.
"Maybe she realized that you are not worth the risk of getting tied down," Edmond said as I was glaring at him. Lucas smacked at the back of his head before I was smirking with satisfaction.
"Would you just stop doing that? It's annoying," Lucas said as Edmond was smirking at us.
"You know you will miss me when we're going back to Scotland. And speaking of that, when will you be doing the ball again, mate? I have been dying to show my wife around," Edmond said as Lucas sighed.
"And I am not,
Conall was smirking before the wedding march was playing and the door was opening. I was looking at my bride as I know that red looked good on her. Her sunset hair and green eyes. I was smiling before I was locking my eyes with her.
Karla smiled as she was walking down the aisle to me. My heart was beating fast before I was trying to make sure that everything was perfect.
And it was.
I was looking at my bride as Karla was stepping in front of me and I was smiling at her. The wedding march stopped before we were looking at the priest as he was clearing his throat.
"Dearly beloved, we gathered here—"
"This is going to be the best day of Addington. He finally got all of us to be married before the year ended," Edmond whispered as I was trying to focus on what was the priest said about the marriage was a sacred bond between two souls.
"You mean the time when he was assigned to be our godfather by our parents? Yeah, I think it would be his lucky day today, knowing that the charmer was finally down," Lucas said before I heard Conall snickered.
"I know right?"
"Ugh, can we just get this done with? I wanted to go sightseeing with my wife," Edmond whined before Conall chuckled lowly.
"You mean touring her body in Rome?"
"Shut up, Reid," they bantered before I was snapped by the priest as Karla was clearing her throat. I was looking at her before she was signaling that the priest was asking the question.
"I'm sorry, can you repeat that?" I asked him before the priest was shaking his head.
"To absorb in your bride's eyes, I see," he said as I was smiling at him. He has no idea what I was hearing after all.
"Yes, guilty as charged," I said as I was looking at Karla who was trying so hard not to blush right now before the priest was repeating what he asked me.
"Do you, Scott McBaran, took this lovely woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, in sickness and health, in rich and poor, to cherish and love her, as long as you both shall live?" He asked me as I was looking at my future wife.
My Karla.
My lover.
My fiancée.
My wife.
"Yes, I do," I said before I felt the tension was leaving my body as I was looking at her green eyes. It softened towards me.
"And do you, Karla Kuznetsov, took this handsome man to be your lawfully wedded husband, in sickness and health, in rich and poor, to cherish and love him, as long as you both shall live?" The priest asked Karla as I saw there were tears on the brim of her eyes.
"Yes, I do. A thousand times I would," she replied before we both smiled at each other. The priest was nodding at us before he asked us to slip our wedding bands. I slipped the platinum wedding band next to her engagement ring before Karla was putting on the wedding band onto my finger.
"With the power that has vested on me, I pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss your bride," the priest said as I was unveiling Karla's face. The face that I will be seeing every morning when I woke up and every night when I go to sleep.
"I love you," I whispered to her as she was smiling at me.
"I love you too, my love," Karla replied before I was kissing her soft lips. It was magnificent. I cannot think that it would be anything else but I was happy to know that I died as a married man.
Married to this beautiful, lovely woman.
"Yeah, way to go, McBaran," the guys said as I heard the claps before we both turned to look at our circle of friends. I don't have much but they were the best that I could never for anything better.
"Thank you," I said to the priest before he nodded.
"My pleasure. Bless with you, children," he said before we were walking down the aisle and we were out of the church as I put my hand around Karla's waist before I saw that my friends did the same with their wives.
Conall with my sister in law, Katrina.
Edmond with his alluring wife, Lyana.
Lucas with his heart thief, Arianna.
I smiled as I was looking at the sky. It was a beautiful day out and I don't want the wedding reception to be indoors when we can have fun in the sun.
"Hey, I was thinking, maybe we can hit the Amalfi coast? It's a nice day and I hate to miss the Mediterranean sun. We don't get this often in Scotland," I said before the others were smiling at us.
"That would be a wonderful idea but—"
"But we have to talk, all of us," the new voice was interrupted as I turned to see that Addington was standing with his hands on his back. I swear this guy will show up everywhere unannounced and surprised us.
"I see that you finally settled down, lad," Addington said as I felt the heaviness of the wedding band on my fingers. I nodded at him.
"It seems that way," I said before Addington was looking at our wives.
"Ladies, if you can excuse us, I have important business to talk with your husbands," Addington said as the women were looking at their husbands.
"Sure," Katrina said.
"Off you go," Lyana pushed Edmond off.
"I see you later," Arianna kissed Lucas' cheek before he smiled
I turned to look at my wife before I was smiling at her. "I will be right back," I said before Karla was smiling at me.
"And I will be waiting for you, my love," she said before I perked her lips and we were off with Addington. Our wives were getting inside the car that was waiting for them before I turned and I saw that Addington was looking at us all.
"Shall we have some tea then?" He asked us as we all nodded and we were walking to the nearest cafe that was located near us.
I was looking at the streets before we were taking our seats at the cafe that Addington chose. I was looking at the menu before we placed our order. Black coffee for Conall. Cappuccino for Edmond. Iced coffee for Lucas and a Frappuccino for me.
"Okay, so, I was wondering when I was looking at the documents. I know that I was happy to know that every single of you has married and I know that my job was done here," Addington started when the drinks were here. I was sipping on my frap before I was looking at him.
"So, what now?" Conall asked before Addington was smiling.
"We have located Shawn into a facility that he will be recovered. I also need to know that the gemstones were safe and sound, I believe?" He asked as I turned to look at Conall. I think he was responsible for that.
"Yes. Everything is done and ready for transport," Conall said as Addington smiled.
"Good, we can go back to Scotland then," he said before I snapped my head toward him.
"Today?" I asked before Addington was arching his eyebrow.
"Is there any problem?" He asked me before I scoffed.
"Yes, a lot. I wanted to spend some time here before we can go back to our mundane life in Scotland," I said before Addington was taking into consideration.
"Okay, we will be taking our leave at the weekend. And I want all of you back in Scotland. Even though you did not work for me anymore, I am still your legal guardian," he stated before we all groaned.
"Enough with that shit," Lucas said as I was smirking. For the first time, I heard Lucas was complaining. Usually, he was the rational one between us.
"Okay, then. I see you in Scotland, oh, and Conall, Megan asked when is the ball again?" Addington said as Conall was rubbing his neck.
"As soon as we got back to Scotland,"
"Excellent. I will tell the Queen then," Addington said before he was getting out of the cafe after paying for all our drinks.
I think having a powerful man as your guardian was not bad after all.
